Lol we have our resident bobtail who comes to visit in our yard, he is quite tame though as he has not hissed at us or the dog/cats. He comes inside if the slide door is open and I have to walk behind him with my broom to get him to go out again ;)

Does anyone have a running contacts DVD?

Training a dog on higher jumps is probably better than training a dog on lower. Ruby thinks she's doing ok, bring out higher jumps and she will start knocking bars I do want to train more on 500 but have to do that in my own time, not class time.
-
Both She's still only jumping 400 in class though (as its the best height to cater for whole class) and managing to keep bars up. It's when we start working on 500 and keeping bars up is when we might run into trouble! Will run a 500 course on Thursday night :D

Nawww I was all excited then!! Join the problem solving group, as Candice called it earlier and you will be ready!! With the help of my awesome instructor, I'm aiming Western Classic for Ruby and a novice jumping trial Hahah tricked you I'm excited about the WC, my first ever one :D I find it hilarious that I set out to do agility with Millie at the start of the year, and now it's Ruby edging her way towards her first jumping trial instead :D

Cheapest Flight Options For Dogs?
RubyStar replied to blackbirdblue's topic in General Dog Discussion
Flying my rescue, Millie, out of Canberra, direct to Perth I was limited to Qantas/AAE and it was very exxy!! Around $550 including crate hire, airport to airport. Dog weighs around 24kg plus crate. I think most flights coming out of Canberra are going to be the most expensive if they have to travel a fair distance because the direct flights only run once or twice a day. I tried getting prices to do it myself and it was too expensive. Jetpets was the cheapest, followed by Dogtainers who wanted about $60 more. -
Whats the problem solving group? I'm so out of the loop :D Just the talk on the previous pages about people training on Mondays I think Candice called it the problem solving group. Nice video by the way! Do you do doggy dancing with your dogs too?

Thats pathetic - eat takeaway like the rest of us have to :p  Or do what I do, eat dinner at mum's on training nights and then the other nights eat leftovers or anything I can find in the freezer :D Amy's got it all covered, doesn't sound like you can weasle out now Tiggy
-
Where were you tonight Didn't Amy's pie motivate you enough :p Pony is always more active after training! :p he gets home and is all "Yeah Toby" and going crazy! I thought of my motivation anyway- I already am defrosting my training treats and I don't want to waste 4legs! Yeah actually mine are always super hypo after training too - but they are well behaved the following day Mine are always dead to the world! They are currently snoring together :D

Amy said she's bringing pie Yes, I'm bringing amy-pie What flavour?

Don't you wish you were part of the party now, too? :p I'm waiting until my dog can do enough obedience to warrant travelling to K9 for a training session Cos you have so far to travel, too

Thanks RS, a week night class is more appealing than losing half a weekend day for dog training....in my OH's eyes anyway I think I'll email them and see if they think Louis can attend. He's ok as long as all other dogs are under control and don't come bouncing up into his face. Send Rusky a PM, she'll be able to help. She's on SR committee and one of the trainers.

I still think people have the wrong idea about Monday night training You're all going to get a rude shock when you rock up and there is no cake and we all pretty much do our own thing But it DOES help with the motivation to have people near you, and to ask for help when you need it. CC/Tiggy - there are classes at Southern River. Beginners, Advanced Beginners, Intermediate and Pre-Trialling. Or you can do your own thing. If you want to partake in a class, you let them know. Or else just pay your membership fee and bring your $3 lights money and find a spare spot to work.

I'm still looking for a house mate I'm not one for early rising, but I will get up at the crack of dawn and/or drive for hours if it means I get to go training with people who can really help me

If your dog is not motivated to tug and you don't have the motivation to get him motivated, I wouldn't bother with the tug anymore. There is no use pushing something on him he doesn't enjoy and is making you dread getting the thing out. Millie won't tug, and I don't have the motivation to push it with her either. Instead, I use what she already does like, which is food and squeaky balls. I got the retrieving dummies out last night and did some "fun" throws for her to hype her up, didn't expect her to deliver them. Tossed one, then ran in the other direction "woohooing" when she came back with it. She approached me, dropped the dummy and I threw the other. Kinda like the 2 food game but with dummies I'm actually doing this with Ruby too to get her to think bringing it back is the funnest thing ever, and working on her retrieving delivery separate. Rear end awareness can also take some time for some dogs. Ruby can get it on the perch, but remove it and it's back to feeling like I am trying to do a U-turn in a semi-trailer. Last night I broke it all down very small for her without the perch, she had to get her bum into me whatever direction I turned, even the slightest movement. She demonstrated she has the ability to do a nice left about turn on the spot if I slow it down for her, so I will just work it up from there. I've been doing this for a while with her now and we're still not there so don't get disheartened with Mason just yet!
