  1. Agreed. And you don't have to be a trialling DOL addict to take trialling seriously, non-DOL people are serious about their trialling, too
  2. New rules state that you can be excused from the ring if you are thought to be training in the ring, so I'm not sure this plan will work out for you. Maybe you should be aiming in training to do everything you'd do in a trial, not the other way around? If you find your dog is being naughty in the ring, you can excuse yourself and not let your dog get away with it that way. Just a thought
  3. Well done with all the agility brags, everyone! I can't wait to be trialling in agility/jumping, hopefully next year sometime for jumping
  4. I don't have any issues at all at training. Daisy can do great run outs anywhere other than the bloody trial ring because it's the only time I lose the plot with nerves! The last trial we did was so bad to the point where she was on fire just outside the ring, bombed when we went in, then a little while later when I took her out again and a few people, even our judge, walked by and commented on what an awesome dog she is if I can just get my nerves under control I have to wonder if it's my nerves that makes Ruby a little b!tch in the ring, lagging and being disinterested, or if it's as simple as her just being a b!tch! I am probably less nervous with Millie, and Millie stays with me. I get even more nervous with Ruby cos I just never know what stunt she is going to pull in the ring that day. I know Ruby is capable of great work, and she has pulled it off in the ring on several occasions, but lately she can't keep it together in the ring and it's affecting me even more. Like you said, catch 22 isn't it
  5. ask your bosses Rubystar you never know they may just allow it ? Or job share ? thats very popular now Work has been flexible in letting me take two half days a week already (especially when what I am studying is not related to my job!) and will let me do it again next year, however, it's the decrease in pay that is making it impossible for me to take anymore time out for it Maybe I'll win lotto?
  6. A bit annoyed The tafe course I am doing part time I am taking annual leave from my full time job for because they don't really offer night time classes (just one class). Well next semester, the daytime class I am doing this semester is being offered Wed nights next semester! My night off from training during the week and I wouldn't have to use my leave on it or take leave without pay! Grrrr!!!!! Would have been perfect! So next semester, I will have to take more leave without pay or annual leave to continue with the leftover daytime classes. Wish I could afford to take 1 or 2 full days off a week for a year and get closer to finishing this certification sooner! End rant
  7. If Ptolomy won't offer up her personal details to you, how about emailing Clean Run and asking if we can have free shipping on i-squeaks as the pressie? As we all promote Clean Run heaps on here and everyone wants i-squeaks! And no I'm not saying this for me, I don't need any more, I have a stash of brand newies in my cupboard still! But everyone else seems keen for them Just a thought
  8. It's forever a work in progress Yep, but only twice out of over a dozen attempts She just keeps coming out before the last weave, like it doesn't exist for her! So I'm going to have to take my weave bases out somewhere with more room than my backyard and open up the last 2 weaves for her in the hopes that will help solve it! And I need to start teaching Millie to weave. Not overly looking forward to that She doesn't do shaping as well as Ruby!
  9. Awesome mirawee! When is your lesson? Hope you don't get all flustered when I do when I get help I end up dropping treats, dropping clickers, have the treats in the wrong hand, the list is endless!! Amy, I spied Trixie's heelwork last night and she's coming along very well! She'll be in CCD in no time ;) I keep thinking I need private lessons for a few things, well I KNOW I need them, its a matter of being able to afford them and working out what/who is priority when it comes to lessons. Ruby is frightened of the dog walk as a few of you would know, she's finally going over it again but still creeps up it uncertain. But last night I broke out the i-squeak with the baby dogwalk and soon she increased her speed by more than double! I'm not bothering with 2o/2o for her, just want her to run to get over her fear Then I took Millie over it and forgot she offers 2o/2o so when I threw the ball for her at the end she kinda stopped and then went after it Sent her over the full size dogwalk (which she's done many times before) and she's just getting faster and faster on that thing! Now she's not waiting for me and is flying off past me towards the end, and her contact is pretty good for the small amount of I have done with her Did some grids (or whatever they're called) with Millie last night and sending her on, and happy that those are coming along too She usually can't take her eyes off me or cheats and goes around the jumps My kids were good kids last night
  10. Don't complain about the ID thing! There are some of us here who never ever get ID'd I know I don't look 18 but even when I was younger I always looked young but still didn't get ID'd! Oh how I would love to be ID'd
  11. Thanks! And look at you making 3 individual posts when you brought up the fact that I don't do many combined posts :p
  12. Thanks I still haven't even looked up how to get there - hope I can find it!
  13. Argh note to self another DOLer who is handy in the kitchen - hey guys make sure she parks close by when she next comes to Perth for a trial Does that mean you won't save me a parking spot in Rockingham cos I don't plan on baking for this weekend?
  14. Geez fine I don't plug Clean Run whatsoever I think they should send Ptolomy something too because of the huge i-squeak order she did Or just offer free shipping on them!
  15. Kyzer is short enough Actually Amanda's poodle who is just over 350mm is ball mad :D Banjo could possibly be taught to do flyball but he isn't that ball mad He plays fetch but won't pick up the ball within a metre of me Jenna loves flyball, we tried it when they were trying to get a display team up for the Royal a few years ago, hope its somewhere close and not too expensive so we can give it another go and that it doesn't clash with anything else. I'm running out of nights to train! Millie would love it, though. I think Mason might like it too! It will probably be down south though and I dont like driving at night The way you say down south it's like you're referring to Margaret River and Busselton type places! "South of the river" sounds a little less severe
  16. As far as I know I think she re-homed both her dogs and does not come online anymore. I could be thinking of the wrong person though. Is this the girl who had the 2 Labs at her mother's rental? She got the second soon after the first? Whoops, I didn't read any further either Never mind! Yes, very sad

  18. I do sometimes! But that takes too much effort
  19. How did you get that info? There's probably a button in clear view but I'm too lazy to look
  20. I was just being cheeky ;) I hope to have a "pretty" dog one day, too But don't think it will be an ES! Not unless I win lotto and can buy a farm!
  21. HAPPY 500 PAGES, WA DOLERS!!!! ;) :D ;) ;) ;) I think we talk too much ;) ;)
  22. Ditto Please refresh our memory with which dog was yours, as I think it happened twice Don't feel too bad, sometimes dogs will be dogs!
  23. I think Millie would love Flyball, but not another one to train!
  24. At least they are only scraping through - I watched a CCD ring recently where dogs on tight leads were scoring in the 90s. Many held their leads in their right hands and then braced the lead against their left hip area. Also watched an experienced trialler correct a dog harshly in the figure 8 behind the judge's back. Same dog placed on a countback. I remember one trial where someone in CCD was yanking the lead to get the dog's nose off the ground while heeling and when it wouldn't auto-sit, they'd click their fingers as a double signal. It wasn't a pretty round, but, they came 1st! I would hate to see the new qualifying score make obedience numbers drop even more, but at the same time, I hope it increases the standard. I wish it had been tougher when I started with Ruby, we mightn't have jumped in so quickly. And while I am still struggling with her in the ring, I wouldn't like to see the exercises get easier just to pass, I am aiming to get BETTER and if the exercises got harder to pass, well that's ok too!! Something to work towards
