Wow!!!! Look at the craters. I'd love to get a good shot of the moon. The best ones I have so far were taken with the 400D and a crappy 75-300 kit lens and hand held. I think you're off to a good start. There's a section of astro photography on POTN, have you looked in there?

Warning To Anyone Who Goes To St Ives Showground
Kirislin replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yay, you got his rego! This attitude some people have of shifting the blame is a strange way of seeing the world, but I had the exact same thing happen to me. Two dogs came rushing down the hill dragging their leads and one attacked Penny who I had on lead. The woman tried to blame me!! I think they must be a bit like their dogs, aggressive and seem to think if they attack first you will back off. Good luck, I hope he's going to be held accountable this time. -
Most do, by their own understood doggy body language. Some, like people dont care that it's a child, and will hurt it anyway but I would think the majority understand it's a pup and adjust their play accordingly. It's lovely to watch isn't it.

Being A Breeder Can Be So Undignified.. Ugh
Kirislin replied to indigirl's topic in Breeders Community
Oh dear, the image that it creates. So next time wear goggles and mouth guard........hmmm and maybe even a biohazard suit to be extra careful  -
One of my whippets now gone to God, Kiri used to do back flips when she was excited. I didn't teach her, she started it all by herself. When she knew we were about to go in the car, or for a walk she would run up to me and........ I'm not even sure how but she'd jump up at me and then use me as a lauch pad to do a somersault! I've seen films of circus dogs doing it, but I assume they've been trained, but I didn't train Kiri, I'd have no idea how to. I wish I had it on film. Another memory, but really something I just never tire of watching is when whippets run. I've actually got a bit of film of that, but the boys have a squabble at the end, I must stress, it wasn't serious, no blood was spilled and I just told them to cut it out, and it was over. Watch tiny Feather in one part how quickly she accelerates to catch them up, but then she overshoots. She was much faster than the boys when she was younger.

It's Official, My Whippets Are The Best In The World!

thanks. :D and your story reminds me not to be complacent. I know what my whippets are capable of. -
thanks! :D I came up with it myself, although I googled it afterwards and there's been a few articles written with that title a few years ago.

awww come off it, that's just taking it too far! Up until fairly recently Puck would charge the pen wire and snap at them, he was pretty intense. I've never had to speak harshly to him, just discourage him in a flat monotone voice, almost disinterested. My whippets are pretty in tune with me, I suppose we're in tune with each other really. When I first got them I didn't imagine I'd get this far with the whippets. You never know with Howard. Maybe get your self a secure chook enclosure first so if he cant be trusted at least you have the chooks safe. Even though mine still haven't given me any eggs and I suspect they never will, I still like having them. I think I'll have to give in and buy a point of lay chook, or I'll never get eggs. -
aah thanks, I'm glad someone gets it, most people go huh?

Poor little buggers, they look very healthy and happy now though. There's something quite theraputic about watching chooks peck and scratch around the yard. A friend of mine has a few and when I visit we sit out on the backstep and just watch them. They are all brown though and look the same( isa browns I think they are called ) so he just calls them " the girls " :) I agree, I find them fascinating. Puck sneaks into their house and eats the chook food, then he poops out the whole seeds next day. -

Truth be told, they were so sickly and miserable when I got them I didn't know if they'd survive, so I just gave them names to identify them. -
Wow! I had something very similar happen to me. I was home alone sitting on the back verandah and suddenly Rebel jumped up and ran out into the back yard, and started sniffing a little tabby kitten that just appeared from nowhere. We were allowed to keep it and named him Puddy (pron Poody, like woody), he too lived to a ripe old age. Some of my happiest dog memories would probably be when I used to ride my mare into the bush with my whippets trotting along side. Camping adventures with horses and dogs was pretty good too, as well as beach days.

Yeah I'm pretty proud of how creative I was. I never thought I'd be able to trust mine, but I've just been watching and discouraging any excitement. I still have to watch them, I think Puck is a bit jealous of the chooks, he thinks they're getting food he should be eating but as long as they're supervised I think the chooks can enjoy a happy few hours foraging in the garden. They're out there right now and the whippets are all asleep in the house. -
I got some ex battery hens around April this year. I've had them penned for many months and been gently telling the whippets that "we dont chase the chickens". I recently started letting the chooks out, and of course they love to now be able to forage. Initially I kept the dogs locked inside when the chooks were out, but gradually I've been supervising them together. I'm not kidding myself, I need to watch them, I wont be going out and leaving chooks and whippets loose together unsupervised, but I think this is pretty impressive. If anyone here knows my dogs you will know how good this is that I'm able to let the chooks peck around and not have chicken bits strewn around the yard. I'm so proud of my whippets. :D Tag and Blackie 5F6A2651dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Puck with Blackie and Brownie 5F6A2670dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Puck with Brownie and Blackie 5F6A2678dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

It's OK, I dont see it as a railroad, it's all related to why I'm putting watermarks on these days.

CC you take the cake for the cutest spider pics ever. I'm scared of spiders but yours always make me think I might want to make friends with them. I love all those big black shiny eyes.

I've got the 17-85 and never heard of it having problems, it's the 50m 1.4 that I had probs with and I've heard that one is notorious for breakdowns.

 Well, I certainly cannot put myself in their class. Yep, this is my concern, that they can clearly see what they would be buying.

Oh dear tlc, life is just getting way too complicated isn't it It reminds me of how some animal DNA is owned by companies, how can that be? Life is crazy sometimes.

Here's another example, smaller but darker, and more readable sorry had to delete it the phone number was too readable

In a way, I want it busy, I want it to intrude, enough to make it not worth their while stealing it, but not enough to stop them actually being able to see the photo  I want everything. I've wondered about the ones I've seen here of yours, wouldn't that be too easy to remove? And I dont understand what you mean about images stolen from galleries because you've disable right clicking.
