a few years ago there was a European wasp nest at the park where I walk the dogs. Penny got stung several times and she was very confused because she didn't know where it was coming from. She'd jump and then go WOOF! as if to say piss off! I had to run and call her so she ran away from them. I was so enraged that these awful things had attacked my girl I waited until dusk and went back with kero. I poured it down the nest and then dropped a match in there. It got rid of them but I very nearly started a grass fire, so was then frantically stamping out the flames in rubber thongs. I would suggest kero works well but be better prepared than I was.

I dont know why it would be illegal, I have seen some number plates blurred out but maybe that's cause it was their own car. I suppose if I was going to post a photo of my own car I might blur the number plate but if it's a random person you dont know I dont think it would matter. I would blur visible phone numbers on dog tags though, even if it's someone I dont know.

I think they meant match the background, not literally just white ;) it was already white behind the dog. She's matched the back part that's all, it just needs to be blended where the margin changes from cream to white. Perhaps raise it up so it matches the left hand side.

It comes with a bag anyway I think, so probably just the filters are the extra. Do you know what kind of filters and what their retail value is? As long as it's in excellent condition it's still probably worth considering. I have the 2.8 IS version and honestly, for action shots I could've done without the IS. And I've just realised, when I do need it, I forget to turn it on. I should've used it last night. -
very pretty aren't they.

Brisbane Zombie Walk - Warning -fake Blood And Gore
Kirislin replied to DieselDog's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
great photos, very gory, but I dont quite understand why they have the zombie thing. It's fairly new isn't it? -
ewww I just googled prong collars and the search came up with prong collar injuries. Used improperly it's pretty awful
-
Is a prong collar used IMproperly worse than a check chain used either properly or improperly? I'm not trying to be inflammatory here, just asking cause I know nothing about them.
-
How timely this thread is. I saw a dog in Vic yesterday with a prong collar on. At least I think that's what it was. It was a chain link collar with bits pointing inwards so that if the collar was pulled they would poke into the dogs neck. I was going to ask if I could take the dogs photo but decided not to.

Carrum beach. Aha!! That's not far from my Mum and Dad's which is convenient!!! Maybe one day you will see a goofy boofhead boy BC and a zany manic racing girl BC there and then you will know it is us!! We've been going down there now for about 2 years I think, but the signs have recently been changed and it might actually now be an on leash beach, it was a bit hard to understand, those signs are often confusing. It's an absolute rip off, I dont know how they can justify it, unless they're deliberately doing it to keep people away.

Any Foods To Slow Senility In Dogs?
Kirislin replied to Kirislin's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I dont even know what to expect in the future, it's not too bad yet, Kibah is just a bit vague. She's always loved her food but lately she's been sleeping in 'cause she's also going deaf, so doesn't hear the commotion of clanging bowls and Puck doing his happy song. Sometimes I go and wake her to let her know brekky's been served and she leaps out of bed, all excited and races off to eat. This morning she wasn't there and I assumed she was still in bed, but then I turned around and she was just sitting on a chair watching the others eat. I took her food bowl over to her and she just looked at it blankly. Only when I held a piece under her nose did she react and then started happily gobbling it down. It's just not her normal behaviour, I know she's not sick, so I can only put it down to aging. -
thanks Frufru and Juice. It's a great beach, never many people or dogs on it but the parking is the biggest rip off. Whenever we got there apart from a few locals cars we're the only ones there but the first time we went, it was $9 for more than 4 hours, next time it had gone up to $10 and now it's $11!!!!!

All my whippets are aging now but most appear in very good physical health. Kibah though appears to be going senile. She's always been a bit quirky, I've loved that about her but I see something else starting to happen now. I'm just wondering if there's any miracle food that either slows, stops or reverses the aging and befuddling of the brain. I probably need to take it myself as well if there is.

I know a girl who uses a Sporn harness on her whippet and she is very happy with it.

The YVWSRC has members beach days every now and then. It's just an informal get together of members and their dogs, we stroll along the beach, come back for a bite to eat, have another stroll and go home tired and happy, and sometimes a bit sunburnt. Here's a few pics from last Saturdays get together. :D The Beach. Lovely and deserted on such a perfect day. they need to understand there's a difference. Feeding ON the bunnies is not the same as feeding the bunnies.

Oh how I wish......... Yes it's illegal to do live coursing these days but even if whippets were judged on speed (I mean racing, not drugs) like they do in Europe, but it's not recognised here. I used to wish the VCA would include my whippets racing achievements on their pedigrees. I dont think it will happen in my lifetime. I've put it in the whippet archives though. :) I have 2 Grand Racing Champions and I'm very proud of them.

Kinda like the price of gold, sounds like it's about the same price.

I dont know how to read xrays but it's interesting that the stopper bone isn't within the stopper pad. I assume it's normal. geeze I'd be looking at and misinterpreting everything, I suspect. Can you see the straight line through one of the lower limb bones, that looks like a break to me, once again, I assume it's normal. I hope Rappie comes in to look for you.

Treating Dogs Like Children Gone One Step Too Far
Kirislin replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I recall a thread like this a few years ago. Creepy for sure. The dog looks very overweight and I think she's getting her jollies from it.
