Yes, she's a tiny little thing, but you should see her run. These were taken yesterday at the Fastest Dog in Australia Victorian heats. 5F6A9806dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9803dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9801dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr She got her prize and killed it good and proper. Gave it a right throttling! 5F6A0191dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0190dppt by kirislin, on Flickr

The Challenge: Who's Got The Fastest Dog In Australia?

here's my little flying smidgen. I believe she's just a tiny bit faster than Usain Bolt, but not sure. That would be a funny race to watch wouldn't it. 5F6A9806dppt by kirislin, on Flickr -

I've seen a few whippet staffy crosses in the past. I think he might be too small to be a greyhound cross. He was pretty photogenic I thought....lovely colour. I'm looking forward to finding out all the times everyone ran too. Some seemed incredibly fast. -

Is Bud the apricoty and white dog? I asked his owner if he was a whippet/staffy, he was quite lightly built in the body and yes, could run like the clappers, so did your cute little Frankie. He seemed to spend more time in the air than on the ground when he ran. I'm glad you had a good time. :D -

bummer about having to cancel. Now that we've run ours I'm keen to know how we fared against the other states. I've almost finished putting all the pics up, just a few more to go, but if you want to look at the album click on the link. I didn't have great shooting conditions, one way was all the cars and the other way was shooting in to the sun. -
they all look beautiful, Henry is such a darling.

Johnny Dipshit. Haven't you heard of him

thanks, I can only agree with you there. Isn't it a buzz to see your own dogs in full flight like that, and yes the sighthounds are pretty awe inspiring. I never tire of watching them run. I could watch them all day. -

Lots more pics to come. I'm pretty tired so will probably stop soon and put more up tomorrow. Yes, my silly little girl should've/could've run faster but was looking out for me. I've got a few on her running with her head turned trying to see me. It doesn't really matter, her brother is much faster so she cannot win the breed class, but it's all good fun. -

that's fine, I've put them up on our facebook page. I'm still going through them, there's lots more to come. Your dogs were very impressive. What did you think of the whippets? And did you see my tiny little black Italian Greyhound run? I'm a bit biased too. -

I think this dog might have been a Staffy/Whippet cross, you cant tell here but it had quite a whippety body, and it could fly! 5F6A0023dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0014dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0012dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0004dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0002dpptcr by kirislin, on Flickr -

Well our comp's been and gone and it was fantastic. A perfect sunshiny day. We had Nova Scotia Tolling Duck Retrievers, Labradors, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Greyhounds, Whippets, Italian Greyhounds, Border Terrier, Beagles, Bassett, Border Collie, Staffies and Staffy cross, a cute little grey scruffy that ran like the wind and they're just what come to mind. It ran pretty smoothly and most dogs did complete their runs with some pretty impressive times, but I cant tell you what they were because I dont know them, I can just tell if a dog's fast, from years of watching them run. I'll put some pics up here or post a link to facebook over the next few days. I cant wait to find out how our Vic dogs went compared to the rest of the country. -
that's what's been concerning me too!

It's today, wish us luck that the timing system works, and all goes to plan. It's going to be a long day but the weather will be perfect. I wont be able to tell anyone the times yet but hopefully can at least post some action photos. The times will be submitted to ALCA to be compared with other dogs around the country. Once all the clubs from around the country have run their comps the times will be published. Here's hoping the Victorian doggies do us proud. -
What's The Weirdest Thing Your Dog Has Eaten?
Kirislin replied to Stressmagnet's topic in General Dog Discussion
When I was in hospital Iggy Mum looked after my whippets. I warned her that they're couch surfers. She had to go out and checked her kitchen bench to make sure there was nothing for them to eat. When she came home she found they'd been up exploring, rifled through a bowl she'd had on the bench with papers, things like bills to pay etc. Unbeknown to her there was a packet of long forgotten unopened mint leaves down the bottom. The boys found it, dragged it onto the floor, ripped it open and licked all the sugar off the mint leaves and squashed them into her carpet. Then of course there was the time that Puck got the 2 litre cask of olive oil, tore it open and spilt the entire contents onto my carpet. I wasn't covered by insurance because it was my dog who did it. If I'd lied and said the neighbours dog broke in and did it, I would have been covered. As it is, I had to rip up the carpet and I now have a concrete floor, still with a whopping olive oil stain. I'm so glad I own the house, if I was renting I would have definitely lost my bond. -
I dont have many, no excuse really because I live in a beautiful part of the world. I took this years ago, I remember all the clouds were pink. IMG_6545 by kirislin, on Flickr These were at Carrum beach on one of our members whippet get togethers. We had to stop them because they were too popular and we were afraid the whippets would all gang up and chase any other breed of dog off the beach. do we know he hasn't been fined? If he hasn't they need to explain why.
-
they should be the only "pets" to be sold in pet shops, as well as the only kind anyone charged with cruelty can ever own again.
-
thankyou all, this has given me some ammo to argue for a once off fee when writing to the council.

All mammals can get rabies. Probably marsupials as well, Rabies in American Opossums is extremely rare but not unknown. Off topic a bit but Rabies will reach Australia eventually. Not from Celebs and their illegal dogs, but from free flying migrations of fruit bats from Indonesia to Australia. Or rats ect travelling with people entering Aus illegally (for whatever reason) I think marsupials are still classed as mammals because they feed their young milk. I'm pretty sure our fruit bats already carry a virus in the rabies family.
-
How was it discovered.
-
that's alot!
-
can you remember how much it cost?
-
I have a friend who lives there too, but she's only on a 1/4 acre block I am pretty sure that I had to pay a one off fee and then the yearly rego for all three dogs, but that was nearly 6 years ago. I just looked at Zeph's permit and it was lodged in late 2009 and expires in June 2015. But it is not current at the moment, because Baylee passed away in late 2013, so we automatically went to 2 dogs. If we want another dog we will have to apply for another permit. We are zoned Residential. what shire are you in?

I cant help wonder if he smuggled anything else in.
