  3. Gotta love a pup: they are like moving targets to try and capture. Thanks for staying Flaves. Just wanna smooooochie your lil black n tan bubba
  4. Sorry I am late: Nothing too serious in this pic. Just mucking around with Miss Rosie in the yard. Poodles are like your dogs just that when they roll in casts it sticks much better!!!
  5. Please dont leave Flaves!!! We are all learning and all at various levels in that learning, lets face it you never stop learning! Im lovin the all the pics you are posting (just look at the last smoochable quality pics)Part of the magic here is watching all of us grow n change with our photos!
  6. Love your shots Kirislin, very crisp. I think the rain add even more dimension to it. Wonderful! That lotus bud is simply awesome.
  7. I was there last month it was near 35 degrees and I near expired walking in the hothouses where the egyptian lillies are! Wonderful place...near 15acres! Lovely spot of a bit of lunch. Got shutterbug fever there I can tell you!
  8. Yep enter the "maybe" brigade because noone wants to acknowledge the poosibility that the dog wasnt neglected...but hey if its dead now what does it matter? Travel to a farm where dogs are kennelled outside with a basic waterbowl tethered to a half drum for part of the day or worse travel in a cage along with the cattle truck.Guess abuse depends on where your dog sleeps. I think shoving a dog in front of a camera as a media campaign, to protests & constant interviews as a unnatural also. Is that abuse? Hardly. I will be sure to see the photos should a prosecution come of it in this case. If there was any dogs in immediate danger Im sure seizure would have been a bigger affair I advocate that all dogs should have the right to be well and given opportunity. My point is that staffy wasnt legally afforded any and it semms in all this hype the staffy didnt rate as deserving of this.
  9. That staffy looked really neglected. *insert sarcasm here*
  10. Im so upset that none of the media are focussing on the fact that despite claims the only dogs that have actually died were at the hands of the authorities that "rescued" them. Look at the staffy in this pic forlornly looking away as it is removed (or sorry RESCUED) from the premises. These dogs were actually most likely killed. Why wasnt someone charged?...oh thats right because they were not EATEN afterwards...and the people doing the killing have a legislative protection because of Victorian law. I brought up on the OL website about what that rescue meant to this staffy: through all their cheering about standing up for dog injustice and against the alleged dog butchers and back patting not one dared to care for the fate of that beautiful dog. Which by the way didnt look to poorly in my opinion. I am in support of closing commercial puppy farms but in this instance there was a real crime happening in front of the cameras eyes and nobody dared acknowledge the elephant in the room. Well little staffy I pray you get much more than you deserved in heaven than you got here in the last week of your life. You might not have been as cute as Oscar but you mattered and I for one will mourn you should you have passed. As for the allegations of the property, they are yet to be proven...if illegal activity has found to have occurred well then may they be prosecuted.
  11. Ooooooooooooooooooooooh a new whippet!!! Smooochy!
  12. Well done on posting this. I am heartened to see that the policy of decision making & operations of councils can be brought up and questioned in an independant court of law.
  13. To think such a lovely soul endured many years of wishing she could be a part of the family. DogMad you made her dream come true. Your tribute brings tears freely...RIP little one know that even if it came late, there was someone in this world who was put in yours to love you...and that love was paramount. Till you are reunited again.
  14. Kja nice to see ya around...looking forward to seeing your wonderful pics again.
  15. A grandmother kept Pekes. Very nice little dogs with regal little attitudes. I really remember how much they moulted!!! She used to brush their coats with powder to memory.
  16. not technically in focus etc..just a quick snap of a moment: This is Luci who on the first day of school missed the kids terribly. My son (who always wanted a cat and not a dog) sat down to do homework at the end of the first school day and Lucimade her feelings known "Missed You!!!!!!"
  17. Great news that Chucky is home and recovering well.
  18. Edit note: I wasnt implying that as a breed Neos have short fuses. What I was trying to express is that it is wrong to equate a dogs displaying aggressive behaviour excessively (whether that be to human or animal) as a desirable trait and a 'good' protection animal. Im my vet nursing experience many "such types" of people use this as a reason to purpetuate or not inhibit such behaviour when really all they are doing is excusing a potentially dangerous animal. Trust me when it takes three people a muzzle and a pole to vaccinate an animal it doesnt do the animal or those in contact with the dog other than the owner it so "protects" any favors. Again I am not saying the OP dog is like this but I have seen many such dogs bought "to protect me" who given time & no discipline turn to this. I hope this Neo gets all the help it needs as I would imagine under the right guidance it should thrive into a better example of the breed. ie loyal steadfast guardian breed as noted by Aphra.
  19. Ok so it seems we have "one of those kinda" male seeks status dog owners perhaps??? Maybe taking up Karate is a cheaper option.
  20. Going to be boom times for the byb's and the pet shops they supply
  21. Stupid question but WHY do you feel the need to have a dog for protection? Protection dogs are trained...not undisciplined dogs that have a short fuse. Dogs are not naturally able to differentiate between friend and foe...nor is it responsible to think that such a dog is going to be controllable without training.
  22. It so sad to hear what has happened to you little dog. What a bloody coward the guy was I hope you take steps to trace him. Personally I too blame the dogs owners and not the dog, but lets not hit up the OP for describing to the best of her ability what breed it was. So it was a bully breed X...its not wrong to declare what dog it was that has attacked your pet. Just because she has mentioned the breed dont jump to the conclusion she is pro BSL...if it was a labrador X and she named it Im sure there would be no comment. Deep breath huh. Lets all hope that the lilone gets over its ordeal with minimal temperamental/physical damage.
  23. Personally I think the best situation is that the lab that through no fault of its own gets rehomed as well its welfare hasnt really been paramount here despite being a 'good' dog for 2 yrs. It deserves better. The mastiff should be returned to the breeder. It needs more work done by someone other than one who hasnt got an idealist idea of what breed is best for them whether it be wise or unwise. Oh and anger management for two of the participants here and a cuddle for the Lab. Sorry but I think you have made alot of bad choices here. Edit to add: I have reread your post again and you really havent made it clear Why Neo is so perfect for you other than you want one. I am sorry if I come off as harsh but if you are so upset that you need to hit something...are you aware that our emotions ...fear/anger/happy directly impact on the dog? I commend you for wanting the dog some help with a behaviourist but behaviourists work with the owners not just on the dog. I hope that you & your Labs wounds heal and that a solution is sourced quickly as it is a dire situation should it happen again.
  24. I agree with all above.....seriously think the law makers in Victoria are "allegedly" barking mad.
  25. Theres such things as 'dog names" ??? LOL A name is a name, just a label we put on as a form of identification. Mind you...if you came to my house Lucis answers to "food" more than Luci most days anyways.
