  1. I want one! http://news.ninemsn.com.au/glanceview/189884/ginger-seal-rejected-by-mum.glance A ranga seal pup, born with rare brownish-red fur and blue eyes, has been rescued from a beach on an island off Russia, in the Caspian Sea, after it was abandoned by its mother. Photographer Anatoly Strakhov found the baby on Tyuleniy Island, away from the other seals on the beach. "He was hiding and waiting for his mother to come and feed him," Mr Strakhov said. Mr Strakhov caught the seal and took it to a dolphinarium where it is being cared for. The baby was captured and is now being cared for at an animal sanctuary.

  6. I am not too sure if I this is the correct forum for this, but I saw this on-line catalogue for a Scottish auction house,Thompson Roddick ... they have some lovely signed paintings/prints of Spaniels, Labradors and terriers by Marjory Turner. Here is the link, with 3 pages of items, the first page is mostly jewelery, vases and stuff, the dogs are on the second page- you can download the catalogue. http://www.trscottishauctions.com/2011/0924/index2.html
  7. Woo Hoo! I met the little sweetie RAAF-U-Dog on the Stradbroke Island vehicle barge 'Big Red Cat' this morning ❤ Hi gsdog2
  8. This sounds like one of the crappiest dog food around, maybe they should rename it 'Not so Safe'
  9. I read your ingredients SecretKei and realised I had forgotten to put in my list the spinach, garlic and oranges. I usually don't put in silver beet as it has oxalates, but on reading a little more about it... http://www.veryediblegardens.com/iveg/vegetable-lore/6-rainbow-chard I think that I had best throw some in as well. I usually put a sprinkle of kelp on the individual meals like a doggie-yummy-garnish :-D
  10. Angelsun has some for sale in the member marketplace section... http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/225514-two-door-wire-crates/ they are at Greater Metro Markwood, and and I have no idea where this is I may have wasted my time posting this
  11. Hello wherezaball I make up a HEAP of vegie slops and freeze it in those little round (Made in Australia) tubs that are in a plastic onion-bag-net-thingie at Crazy Clarks (cheap and last and last). I cut up a pumpkin, a cabbage (get the one with the most green leaves), 2 or 3 carrots, 2 or 3 apples (no pips) couple eggs with shells, 3 or 4 ladyfinger bananas, some sweet potatoes, about 1/2 cup non-pasteurised apple cider vinegar, 1tsp mustard, couple tsp ginger, parsley, thyme, rosemary, basil (whatever herbs you have) + chia& mustard greens if they are growing in the garden, and 1/2 cup or so of Aldi brand extra virgin olive oil made in Oz ($19.95 4L) All the vegies are raw. Chuck handfuls into the food processor, you will need to add water to help it slop up, empty each load into a bucket...you will find it takes a couple of hours...many loads of slops in this batch! Put in into the little tubs and freeze. Each meal I mix a dollop of slops with their portion of minced turkey necks or,minced chicken frames/wings. I only mix the slops with the meat at meal times rather than make it all up including the meat. One of those little tubs last the 3 dogs (fed twice daily) for around 4 days. I add any extras (like the Prodent stuff and Herb Robert tea) to their meals separately. Hope this helps :-)
  12. How about using larger bones that can't be swallowed. What about chicken frames and Turkey necks would that be of any help. I do get turkey necks, cut the in 1/2 and mince the narrower end (the fat end doesn't go through my mincer)...the fat end I give to Daisy and Mac for their after-tea treat, Penny gets a 1/2 chicken wing, (I cut the shoulder-part cut off as she gets it stuck in her craw )she does chew her 1/2 wing a little to get it into the correct throat-shape so it will slide down. I can't give her lamb or beef as she gets itchy skin and I am worried that those bones that look like horse-bridle-bits in the turkey neck will get stuck.
  13. I have been using it (1/2 spoon morning and night) for around nearly 4 weeks. Penny (who has not many front teeth left) had a build-up of plaque on her canines despite having a GA-teeth-clean and adding 'Aquadent' to their water. Mac and Daisy both had build up on their canines. I gave them a toothbrush-clean this morning and some of the plaque came off...perhaps it is working! I'll give a better update in a few weeks. I worry about Penny as she can't eat bones, she just swallows them whole, so there is no bone-teeth-cleaning advantage and I am hesitant to get her teeth cleaned under a GA as she is an old-aged-pensioner. Here is hoping the rest of the plaque will disappear. Maybe a useful tip...I push their food to the edge of their bowls so it takes longer for them to eat it, I figure that the longer it takes to eat it (rather than bolting it down) the quicker it'll work.
  14. I reckon that cutie pit bull x chihuahua would be a real scrapper
  15. A lovely woman I met at the Westie Club's BBQ breakfast had one of her brood live to 19 pretty good age that!
  16. Yep, never trust anyone who says the word "kiddies" He probably had on red socks to match his bow tie (which spins round like a propeller when the 'on' button is pushed)
  17. The stuff I bought is called this: Proden Plaqueoff Animal Plaque off and the link to the Ebay seller is: http://home.shop.ebay.com.au/Dogs-/20742/i.html?_catref=1&_dmpt=AU_Pet_Supplies&_fln=1&_ssn=amber_wolf_pets&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282 She marked the packet as "Dog toothpaste" I had no trouble with customs,
  18. ABC article...(piccie is OTT) but I thought I would post it as there is a 'comments' section that you can reply/add your comments. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-08-30/government-cracks-down-on-dangerous-dogs/2861606
  19. I tried it and it will say 'Please select a location' if I just select NSW, but if I select an area it will work
  20. You could try these people. http://www.petsitaustralia.com.au/ The pet sitters do an on-line course and also an on-line dog/cat first aid course. They can stay at your place or visit twice a day. may be worth a go.
  21. Perhaps give him a charcoal tablet morning and night for a couple of days, they really help in absorbing nasty toxins in the gut. You can buy them at chemist shops for around $10-->$15 depending on the chemist. Maybe worth a try
  22. I bought them when COTD had them on special last time round. The two brushes that have the wire bristles work well on the Westies but the nylon brush just slides along the top though it is ok for around their eyes and sensitive bits. I am happy with them, they are great! the pop-up bit that makes it easy to remove the hair is a good idea,...beats getting pierced on the edge of ya finger with those bloody wires
