How about using larger bones that can't be swallowed. What about chicken frames and Turkey necks would that be of any help. I do get turkey necks, cut the in 1/2 and mince the narrower end (the fat end doesn't go through my mincer)...the fat end I give to Daisy and Mac for their after-tea treat, Penny gets a 1/2 chicken wing, (I cut the shoulder-part cut off as she gets it stuck in her craw )she does chew her 1/2 wing a little to get it into the correct throat-shape so it will slide down. I can't give her lamb or beef as she gets itchy skin and I am worried that those bones that look like horse-bridle-bits in the turkey neck will get stuck.

I have been using it (1/2 spoon morning and night) for around nearly 4 weeks. Penny (who has not many front teeth left) had a build-up of plaque on her canines despite having a GA-teeth-clean and adding 'Aquadent' to their water. Mac and Daisy both had build up on their canines. I gave them a toothbrush-clean this morning and some of the plaque came off...perhaps it is working! I'll give a better update in a few weeks. I worry about Penny as she can't eat bones, she just swallows them whole, so there is no bone-teeth-cleaning advantage and I am hesitant to get her teeth cleaned under a GA as she is an old-aged-pensioner. Here is hoping the rest of the plaque will disappear. Maybe a useful tip...I push their food to the edge of their bowls so it takes longer for them to eat it, I figure that the longer it takes to eat it (rather than bolting it down) the quicker it'll work.

A lovely woman I met at the Westie Club's BBQ breakfast had one of her brood live to 19 pretty good age that!

Yep, never trust anyone who says the word "kiddies" He probably had on red socks to match his bow tie (which spins round like a propeller when the 'on' button is pushed)

ABC article...(piccie is OTT) but I thought I would post it as there is a 'comments' section that you can reply/add your comments. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-08-30/government-cracks-down-on-dangerous-dogs/2861606

I tried it and it will say 'Please select a location' if I just select NSW, but if I select an area it will work

You could try these people. http://www.petsitaustralia.com.au/ The pet sitters do an on-line course and also an on-line dog/cat first aid course. They can stay at your place or visit twice a day. may be worth a go.

Chicken & Rice Diet For Diarrhea
Boronia replied to Mum to Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Perhaps give him a charcoal tablet morning and night for a couple of days, they really help in absorbing nasty toxins in the gut. You can buy them at chemist shops for around $10-->$15 depending on the chemist. Maybe worth a try -
I bought them when COTD had them on special last time round. The two brushes that have the wire bristles work well on the Westies but the nylon brush just slides along the top though it is ok for around their eyes and sensitive bits. I am happy with them, they are great! the pop-up bit that makes it easy to remove the hair is a good idea,...beats getting pierced on the edge of ya finger with those bloody wires

Amazing how fast the sick can travel through the dog-sheet cover, then through the bedspread, blankets, sheets, mattress cover, then onto the mattress, Chuck Yeager and his Bell X1 had nothing on the speed of dog sick.

I usually buy the big-dog packets of Advantix and decant 1ml from the vials with a 1ml syringe and the dogs get it every 3 weeks in the winter and every 2 weeks form the beginning of August until late Autumn. I picked a medium paralysis tick off Penny's eyebrow a couple of weeks ago, her eyebrow had swollen and was sore...the tick was dead. Mac barked at next door's out-of-it's-yard-again dog yesterday...he sounded as though he was getting laryngitis and then he fell up the steps...we checked him and he had a BIG paralysis tick just back from his nose...it was also dead It appears the Advantix does work but perhaps it takes a day or two to do its tick-killin' so a daily check is a good idea. Mac is fine today, no walks for him for a couple of days though.

She had written 'Dog Toothpaste' on the customs declaration form on my packet...not quite the correct description methinks.

Well bugger...I have just ordered some (perhaps crappy) shrinkable tags from somewhere else. I reckon I would have bought 3 of these had I known...and one already has 'Penny' written on it :-D

Would you like to add this supplier to your list MEH (though they appear to be much the same price as Pet Supplies For You),their postage was $5 to deliver to me, but I live within 50ks. http://ovedshorseandpetstore.com.au/Dog-Products/Flea-Tick-Control/52.html They had pretty quick delivery.

What size/amount did you buy Hesapandabear?...I am interested as I usually buy elsewhere (where the price of Advantix is pretty good)

We need more pictures of Alwyn...and soon!

The ones I ordered are already cut out. I will cut my fingers if I make them myself as I am craft-inept. I did think about it when I saw this site, it has a pattern download http://blog.themodernpet.com/?p=161

I was looking to buy some new tags for the little guys and saw these...it's a site in California (I couldn't find an Aussie site that sells them) You write on them and pop them in the oven and they shrink http://www.arcatapet.com/category.cfm?catnum=255 the postage wasn't too bad...Global Air Mail $7.23 They had an interesting suppliments section...even had some wild Atlantic salmon oil and a suppliment if your dog is fed a vego diet.

I got mine yesterday so it'll be interesting to see if the plaque on Mac's teeth disappears. Daisy has a small amount and Pen is plaque-free (though she has only 3 front teeth, her canines and some of her molars left) It has a neat little spoon doesn't it Oakway

Are Apples Good For Dogs?
Boronia replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I give the litle guys apples pretty often, I use a corer similar to this, makes it easy as the whole core is cut out and the apple is cut in handy bit-sized pieces
