How To Remove Staining On White Dogs
Boronia replied to hottopic01's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
These people look to have it Patters http://www.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au/Butte...der-pr-469.html I may buy some myself...does it really help in lessening the stains around their beards and below their eyes?...Daisy is quite stained and she does have the same diet as the other two. -
Hi Westiemum, keep us updated on Mac's progress...Penny is 12 now and I have a feeling that she will go gaga in the next year or so as she had a pretty tough life up until Moira saved her from a dirty stinkin' BYB

Ha, got a bit excited there for a moment but saw it had brewers yeast also MEH, Penny doesn't do too well on that ...hope your dog does well on it jadesamara -
is this the same as the one you just bought littlebear? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Cooling-Water-Bed-P...=item2c5a651fce I also bought one of these last year, the dogs like it as well. It is not as firm (or perhaps as long lasting) but HEAPS cheaper, it is interesting that Mac wont try to dig a more comfortable spot in it while he will scrape away at the Canine Cooler® Thermo-regulating Bed as it is quite firm (the water bed is squishy )

Woo Hoo! I see the squares my friend Lynn and I did...Westies, Scotties and some bones The quilt is wonderful Rainy, what beautiful squares they are, what a JOB to work it all out and stitch them together...TOP MARKS!
-
I bought the little guys the Canine Cooler® Thermo-regulating Pet Bed...you definitely need a medium for Westie-sized dogs so they can stretch out. I had to put a towel on them at first as they didn't like the feel but they lie on them most of the day now. If you sign up for Deals Direct daily newsletter sometimes they have them on special, that way you won't miss out. Anyway here is the link http://search.dealsdirect.com.au/search?p=...%20Bed&rk=4

How To Remove Staining On White Dogs
Boronia replied to hottopic01's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks everyone, She is a 10 month old Maltese/silky with dash of poodle and chi. but she is all white and her skin is white with a couple of freckly type marks on her skin. she has dark brown eyes. I generally keep the hair around her face short to minimise it it just looks awful. She is an inside dog so i only wash her once a fortnight. Or should i wash her more? she's not a smelly dog and she gets brushed every day cause she loves it LOL. I also have a old male chi who is a bit overweight so they both get supercoat lite and mature dry food. I feed them the Platinum dog Roll from Coles she just gets a bigger portion than he does. As well as rawhide chews and liver straps etc. I was bathing her in my Dove body wash LOL but was wondering if there was another dog wash i could use that would help with the staining as well. I might try another type of dog food. I have heard of the BARF brand but don't know a supplier around here we are in Jimboomba (brisbane southside). She is going in next week to be desexed so will have a chat to the vet as well and get her checked out while she is there. cheers Here are the Qld distributors Hottopic01 http://www.drianbillinghurst.com/distributors.php?pid=5 -
Yep, ask Jed first, and I bet she will say she wants to see it before the competition because she will be excited to see what it looks like (but then it'll REALLY spoil the surprise as she is IMPATIENT!) Congratulations on the lotsa-hard-work-quilt-saga Rainy, A GOOD job, Well Done!

Thanks for that link Muttaburra, that looks to be why terriers are called terriers, it's interesting to note that the description for the Australian terrier says "small greyish wire-haired breed of terrier", I alway thought they were that beautiful rusty red colour. The description does say terriers are usually small, active, and short-bodied breeds of dog, originally trained to hunt animals living underground, obviously the Airedale and the Black Russian Terrier are unusual terriers.
-
Westies were used to hunt down otters as well...perhaps they dug them out of their burrows? if terriers are a dog that is used for killing vermin in borrows I would wonder what sort of vermin lives in a burrow that a Black Russian Terrier could get down...a bear perhaps? I mean they are pretty BIG... http://www.google.com.au/images?client=ope...ved=0CCoQsAQwAA so...what denotes a terrier?
-
I was reading the Caucasian Ovcharka thread and on post #50 a Russian Black Terrier was mentioned....my question is..what denotes a "terrier" as a type of dog? I know it is not the size! as Airedales are a pretty big/tall dog.

Yes!, thanks Marina, there is a store in Cleveland I had better visit...I didn't know they existed! I live on one of the islands in Moreton Bay so it is fairly close (what are their dogs? http://www.petcafe.com.au/Cleveland_index.html ) I make up a big batch of my own raw vege/fruit mix in the food processor, put it in containers and freeze, then mix a bit with their turkey or minced chicken-wing meat, add a bit of linseed meal or kelp and they gobble it up BUT sometimes I run out so if I could buy some it'd be good.

Disinfecting Wound And Aftercare Cream
Boronia replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I will buy some of that Ichthammol Ointment dancinbcs. Also a handy plant to grow so you have it handy is Aloe Vera, just break off a leaf and smooth the cooling gel onto bites, little cuts, grazes or rashes...works a treat! -
My three have little tartan Tam-o-Shanters with tiny pompoms on top, I have also bought 3 of these (they are around 10cm long) my friend is bringing them back from the UK for me next month so I'll post a piccie of the little guys then ..................................... http://www.bcgap.co.uk/product/654171/6/ba...h_bagpipes.html

Disinfecting Wound And Aftercare Cream
Boronia replied to giraffez's topic in General Dog Discussion
me too Poodlefan...I also use Hypericum herbal ointment, it has lavender and tea tree in it as well, I also have 'The Scarless Healer ointment (it is calendula, Hypericum and aloe in it)...I think the base is beeswax as you have to warm it a bit, it's really sticky and a bugger to wipe off and dirt sticks to it BUT it is a fantastic healer!, I also use paw paw ointment but the dogs eat that off pretty quickly. if they get green and or black ant bites rub onion on the bite, takes away the pain. -
No I didn't Lillysmum, I didn't notice the link (sorry) I did click it now though and it just said 'Page Not Found'
-
Daisy mirrors the other two but mostly when there is food to be offered, when we first got her 11 months ago (when she was 7) she wouldn't eat the pieces of banana/cucumber/pawpaw/carrot we offered, she soon changed her tune when she realised she may be missing out on stuff. I don't think she had ever been in the water either, but will now follow Mac into the sea up until their feet leave the bottom, she is pretty proud of herself

I was going to buy some Plaque-off that Becks mentioned in this DOL forum... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;#entry5093121 I couldn't for some unknown reason, then I saw this thread...lucky me, didn't lose my money. (I posted a warning about them on that thread also)
-
I thought I would buy some of that Plaque-Off ...so Googled it and saw that PetFood 24/7 had it. Their name rang a bell with me and I found that I was already a customer, I tried to order but couldn't find the 'put-in-shopping cart' link to buy it. I emailed them asking how to buy....in the mean-time I saw this on DOL... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=203578 and here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=Petfood+24/7 and here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=195249&hl= No wonder their name rang a bell. Lucky I didn't pay any money eh!
