Hi SarahJ88, I see you are at Alexandra Hills...well that's not too far from the vets at Koala Park Vet Surgery-it's just 1k or so south of Koala Park Victoria Point shopping centre/Pattens Big Gun area, it's on the Eastern side of the road just past a retirement home on the Cleveland-Redland Bay Rd. Give them a ring and ask them as they price on the size of the dog...32076041 They are pretty good as vets go, Daisy (Westie) was desexed for $199.60, so you can find cheaper but they are pretty good people and don't give you BS. The ladies at Capalaba Pet Foods recommend them - they go there also :-D

Here is a little more news http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland...0221-1b1z5.html Report by Marissa Calligeros at the Brisbane Times..... A highly-endangered monkey stolen from Brisbane's Alma Park Zoo last year has astonishingly been found safe and well interstate. The female Cotton-top tamarin was handed into Symbio Wildlife Park at Helensburgh, south of Sydney, yesterday after being found in Melbourne. Keepers at the wildlife park initially believed the monkey was named Rico, among seven stolen from the zoo, in May last year. Advertisement: Story continues below A 34-year-old Victorian man yesterday brought a monkey to the wildlife park that he said his friend had bought for him on the internet. "Unfortunately it was a case of mistaken identity by the police," the wildlife park owner John Radnidge said. After a physical examination and an analysis of the monkey's microchip, keepers discovered the returned tamarin was in fact Conchetta. "I can confirm that the animal belongs to Alma Park in Brisbane. It turned up in Melbourne and she's now in our care." "The private individual who had the animal in his care was doing some research on the internet and came across the story [about Rico]. "He flew up in his private plane ... to return the monkey to us yesterday. "We determined immediately that it wasn't our animal. They are absolutely thrilled in Brisbane." Conchetta and her male partner Tonto were stolen from their enclosure on October 9. Tonto was found dead in a nearby housing estate in Dakabin the following day. All hope was soon lost for Conchetta, who was pregnant and not expected to survive outside the zoo. The fate of Conchetta's twins is not yet known. Staff at Alma Park Zoo are overjoyed at the news a spokeswoman said. ‘‘We’ve got goosebumps,’’ she said. ‘‘After all this time we had lost hope of having her back alive. Considering the terrible fate that was met by her mate Tonto who was beaten to death during the heist. We just can’t wait to see her.’’ The spokeswoman said Conchetta will be kept in quarantine for a short time after she returns home and then housed near other Cotton-top tamarins for companionship, while a new mate is organised through the official zoo network. ‘‘Conchetta appears to be in good health and will be undergoing a thorough veterinary examination,’’ she said. ‘‘She will remain at Symbio for a short period to allow her to acclimate back to a zoo setting, before she is flown to Queensland to be reunited with her keepers.’’ Two teenage boys aged 17 and 18 were charged over the Symbio thefts last year. The illegal trade in wildlife is believed to be worth billions and the species most commonly stolen are reptiles, birds, fish, insects and plants, the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts said. Investigations are continuing. - with Glenda Kwek and here is a photo if the link doesn't work

That's good news Huski, I hope Daisy will heal up really-fastly now
-
I hope that Daisy's leg has less swelling today Huski but you didn't miss too much not going to Woofstock , it was ok but fairly small and REALLY HOT! The organisers had set up some ginormus fans/evaporative coolers that they filled with icy water so they were pretty welcome. There were some really good dogs in the competitions--(especially the Fashionista-in-the-field...the little guys wore their Tam-o-shanters (with a tiny Westie button on each) and little tartan coats with a little bagpipe hanging off them). They WON FIRST PRIZE Yippee it made up for taking a wrong turn and ending up going through the Clem Jones tunnel The dogs are home resting after their grueling day as fashion tarts There were some really great dogs there. Sorry to hijack your post but I was thinking of Daisy yesterday and wished I could have hooked up with her and you at the meet up point near the gate. Get well soon Daisy

Don't know whose Pei it was Ams, I think he was owned by a dark haired guy in a black T-shirt, the Pei didn't miss the water bowl, he got it dead centre That was a lovely Pei-girl who was a Fashionista, she had on such a summery frock. I really liked the Chinese Crested as well.
-
Where were you? did you go in the fashion comp? there were a few shihtzu's there I saw GoldenGirl85 and her neat Jack Russell Tessa and her Goldie Lexi and of course the handsome Kyojin
-
Yep...too hot, lucky I bought water as the dogs wouldn't drink out of the dog bowls, though you couldn't blame them as Mac stood in one to cool off and a Shar Pei left goobs in one, then he lifted his leg and peed in the bowl he had just drunk out of...was really funny

The little guys won the Fashionista contest, they were all dressed up in their Tam-o-shanters and had little tartan coats with bagpipes hanging off...what a hoot! Left the camera in the car but the lovely ladies at the Cavalier booth took some photos (thank you Ladies) here are some photos I took at home just after we finished making them yesterday Mac......................................................... ..................................Daisy And a couple of Penny whose Tam kept falling off :-D

Hope Daisy is feeling better today Huski, don't tell her about the Woofstock Festival...she would have wanted to go so she could get dog-treats :-D

If the ants are still in the bag empty the whole lot out on a tarp layed outside in the hot sun and tip the kibble onto that and move it about so it is just one layer, rake it around every so often and the ants will bugger off. You could also run a blow torch quickly over the kibble trying not to set fire to the tarp :-D and then blow the dead ants away with the vacuum cleaner on reverse....this solution is more fun for you but not for the ants.

Here is one but it may not be big enough...perhaps if you phoned them they may suggest an alternative hire company or even have a larger van. http://www.about-australia.com/travel-guid...ervan-van-hire/

We are going to try our best to get there, the dogs are going to put on their tam-o-shanters and their miniature bagpipes for the dogs-best-dressed competition. If we make it we will see you at the gate at 10.30 ;) Do we get to the Albion Raceway from Amy St?

I just received a message from the Yahoo Westie group asking to put the message out it says: Hi all, These lovely dogs were lost in the Brisbane floods but no one has come for them yet http://mansequins.blogspot.com/ Can you please forward to anyone you know who may know people in Brisbane. Kelpie-cross girl dog still searching for her owner ! She is not doing well; fretting and frail. She may be older than 12 years and has an arthritic hip. She swam for her life and deserves every chance she can get to be reunited with her owner too. PLEASE keep RT-ing this blog site until we find her owner, who obviously does not know she is still alive! Prior to Update: These beautiful Golden Oldie dogs were both plucked from raging torrents of water during the Queensland Floods, Australia. Although rescued in separate locations, they were swimming for their lives when dragged to safe ground. Qld Flood survivor Golden Oldies looking for owners They were taken to RSPCA Brisbane, but then transferred to @AWLQ, Gold Coast. Neither of them have any identification. They are both Golden Oldies, over 8 years old. Although they are doing their best "cute face" for the camera, they are both quite traumatized. And really missing their owners! The black Labrador is a boy, and the Kelpie cross is a girl. They both appeared well cared for, which means their owners would be distraught incase they had drowned. If you know either of these 2 dogs: contact either myself, @PepiSmartDog, or @AWLQ (The Animal Welfare League Queensland), immediately! These dogs only have days left before being put up for adoption. AWLQ want to give these pets every opportunity to be reunited with their "Forever Family" before making any further decisions. Please RT this blog link to anyone you think may be Australian. Someone has to know who they are! Help Reunite 2 Qld Flood Dogs: http://mansequins.blogspot.com <http://mansequins.blogspot.com/> Perhaps get the word out...these guys are looking for their homes

or one of these ( 50 suctions out of a single 12-hour charge...that's a lot of poo :D ) http://www.uberreview.com/2011/01/dog-dung...ick-up-poop.htm I wonder what noise it makes when the poo gets sucked into the scoop-box?

You should start breeding these Steve, they will do the job for you (and fast with it! :-D )

I will keep an eye on Pen Westiemum... so far she is much the same as when I bought her, though I do notice she growls at Daisy if Daisy butts into Pen's space...this may just be a bitch-thing so I keep a really careful eye on them in case it escalates into something more serious...I should have bought another male Westie instead of Daisy, but when I went round to see her, to perhaps buy her, I just had to get her out of there, so handed over my $200 and away I went Next time I take them to the vet I'll ask him to check.

'that's good buyin' littlebear, the one I got wasn't firm...it is fairly squishy, it's the el-cheapo model :-) works ok though

How To Remove Staining On White Dogs
Boronia replied to hottopic01's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
These people look to have it Patters http://www.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au/Butte...der-pr-469.html I may buy some myself...does it really help in lessening the stains around their beards and below their eyes?...Daisy is quite stained and she does have the same diet as the other two. -
Hi Westiemum, keep us updated on Mac's progress...Penny is 12 now and I have a feeling that she will go gaga in the next year or so as she had a pretty tough life up until Moira saved her from a dirty stinkin' BYB

Boronia replied to sas's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Ha, got a bit excited there for a moment but saw it had brewers yeast also MEH, Penny doesn't do too well on that ...hope your dog does well on it jadesamara -
is this the same as the one you just bought littlebear? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Cooling-Water-Bed-P...=item2c5a651fce I also bought one of these last year, the dogs like it as well. It is not as firm (or perhaps as long lasting) but HEAPS cheaper, it is interesting that Mac wont try to dig a more comfortable spot in it while he will scrape away at the Canine Cooler® Thermo-regulating Bed as it is quite firm (the water bed is squishy )
