  1. Oh wow, you know how much I just lurve GHs Reb. Cannot wait for these babies to come all the best xx
  2. That's so exciting TSD. Not long to go now. Looking forward to seeing it all happen xx
  3. DDD. I'm just doing my bit for the breed. Plan to leave it in a better place than I found it...that's all any of us can do isn't it
  4. Yep, sure have FTR, but not slate, sorry. I use it on ceramic tiles every time I vacuum and have used it on concrete. It is tough because it is not all plastic like most vacuums. Some parts of the motorhead are plastic, but extremely hardened, unlike the Dyson. The brushed roller is steel. There is a groove along it than I can run the knife along to remove all my hair out of it too ;)
  5. Thank you DDD. We are so appreciative to have such wonderful owners who love their dogs so much and put so much time and effort into them. LOL, Mr Sheen you reckon LOL.
  6. Thanks Thistle. Much appreciated
  7. Thank you FTR. We are very proud of all of them
  8. Naww, thank you AL. Time flies and there will babies before we know it...we hope ;)
  9. We're going to see Rider this week. Looking forward to seeing him, haven't seen him in almost 12 months. We may be getting him collected.
  10. Thanks Avanti and Scottsmum. It's really quite lovely to have the opportunity to share with your owners how much they are enjoying the dogs we bred. Packer came to stay with us for a couple of weeks earlier this year. I did some herding with him, a real natural plus he entered our specialty show where he did really well. At home he and Legend just did this until they were too tired to do it anymore. So nice to see sibling entire males who don't live together get along so well. Very proud Packer is doing really well too. This is a pretty old video now, but still a goodie ;)
  11. Lola, who as you guys would remember came back to us after it was apparent a young family member had an allergy to her, went to the very wonderful and capable Bobbee, who has been working hard on this ball of energy since she got her in Feb this year. Lola gained her RN and RA titles in absolute style and achieved her first pass in RE last weekend. and now I'm having trouble uploading pics
  12. Starkehre I Am Legend HSAs "Legend" has had a very successful early start to herding with us. He's taken out several HIT at both vic herding venues and is just a big goober. We adore Legend and he is a huge character. Like all our Starkehre dogs he is very dog social and people social but also exhibits appropriate guarding and herding instinct. Legend is an excellent baby sitter. We board dogs and Legend likes to make them feel comfy and usually get a gentle game of "land sharks" going One of his herding runs
  13. Starkehre Pretty Woman owned by Ebony is also doing amazingly well. Ebony trains Sage in Tracking, Obedience, Herding (has HIC), and Nosework, with Obedience being Eb's main passion. Here they are doing a demo at a seminar for Positive K9 last weekend And here is some scent detection work from months ago
  14. Starkehre Bonnie And Clyde owned by Callie are doing so well, I'm so proud of Callie. Bonn is her first dog ever. Bonn gained her Herding Instinct Certificate last weekend and Callie is continuing on with herding her. Callie attends Positive K9 Training every weekend religiously and loves her obedience. Bonn exhibits in local specialty shows and is just such a lovely bitch in every aspect. Love her temperament and type and just not be more happy with Callie's dedication and willingness to learn. Here's Bonn doing some work with Rex some months ago
  15. LOL, you guys are gorgeous, just saw this. AL, you are all over this, well done ;) I must have mentioned to you a while back that we may have bred last this season. Sorry I have no news, so sorry to disappoint. We're not planning our next litter until Seven's next season, which is likely in late Jan 2018. We would have bred her this season just gone but we have our RCV National in November and I want to do the Breed Survey and Inaugural RCV National Herding Trial with her also and as well as Dam and Progeny. I guess we all have to wait another 7-8 months for puppy pics/vids. But just seeing you are checking in on us, I'll share some updates on our last litter Starkehre Neverending Story "Story" is blitzing the specialty show ring nationally. She's taken out multi V1, BISS and RUBISS. Her owner Tracy and daughter Tam are doing wonderful things with Story.
  16. We've not looked back since we bought our Sauber Intelligence. http://www.sauber.com.au/ We've had both barrel and upright Dyson and would never get another one. too many constantly breaking plastic parts and power heads dying. Sauber leaves absolutely nothing behind, no hair at all. Power to spare, it's amazing. We love it...wish we could get the newer one now, but don't need to. It's just as efficient as when we bought it 4 years ago.
  17. The knuckling over and the east/west are usually 2 unrelated things. East/West is super common in larger breeds that usually have straight forehands and carpus when they are younger. The feet typically start appearing to go east/west around 12 weeks but it can occur sooner. Puppies have little to know chest depth and little spring of rib. As they develop the chest will push out the elbows which will inturn straighten the forehand...to a degree. What we end up with is either genetics and diet related. Also when puppies are young they will sit east/west as it is easier for them to balance this way. for a pet dog I would not be concerned about the east/west. Definitely be extremely concerned about the knuckling over. The knuckling over, like others have said, definitely diet. Off all puppy food and it should rectify pretty quickly.
  18. And this is exactly what good breeders freak out about with their puppy people, and why I advise them all to insist that the vet DOES NOT palpate the puppys' hips. A diagnosis cannot be made this way, nor does it do the puppy any good. You've been given loads of great advice here. I would be restricting exercise and hoping the lameness settles. Take your puppy to a reputable canine physio or bowen therapist. Your puppy may have a hip issue, but there is just as much chance that it doesn't...or didn't until the vet palpated. I wouldn't be doing hip surgery now, but definitely get some advice from a non pro JSP/pennhip vet.
  19. Get her spayed, leave him entire. He's exhibiting behaviours that will be remedied when you get some assistance in how best to deal with him
  20. Lurve me a high food driven dog. I wouldn't be trying to curb it at all. I encourage it. You are doing the right things to ensure he east safety. The attitude I would leave alone. "It's your choice" (food refusal) is so simple to teach to help you keep your fingers. Use his food drive to your advantage and revel in the ease of training him ;)
  21. Hi Jonathan. I'd like some more information please. I may be able to help out with some dogs Please PM me
  22. There is a big difference between the questions prospective puppy people should be asking breeders and the questions the breeders ask the puppy people. I can see how advising of the latter might create knowledge in inquirers that might assist them in securing a puppy when perhaps they might otherwise not qualify. But providing info on the former is definitely helpful. I have done this on my website. In no way does this assist a person in obtaining a puppy, but it helps them negotiate their way through the labyrinth of information they should know when researching the purchase of a particular pedigree dog... required health testing, registration types, breeders and so on. Feel welcome to have a look if you wish http://www.starkehrerottweilers.com/you-want-to-add-a-rottweiler-puppy-to-your-fa.asp
  23. If there were internal stitches the first time, this could have caused an issue. sometimes they don't dissolve or so extremely slowly. Often they part break down and come out through the skin. This slows down healing incredibly. A couple of years...hmmm, I guess possible but unlikely unless your dog was upsetting the surgical site during this time.
  24. Are the sire and/or dam wet and/or have loose lower lids? The breeder should know if the pup is likely to dry up as she matures or remain wet throughout her life. And given you know the dogs and have researched, I would expect you would likely know the answers to some of these points too? If it seems unlikely her lids will tighten as she grows into her skin (that her skin will also keep growing) then I'd be sending her back. Nicely explain you are disappointed. Expect a refund and if you don't get it, be prepared to fight for it or back down. Good luck, not a nice situation to be in. Difficult when you have a sweet puppy with you that you don't feel you can become attached to
  25. What do you mean by "pick" Collie? That could be another point of confusion. To breeder the word "pick" means their opinion of the best puppy in the litter, or of that sex or out of what is available. And the virtues that made a particular puppy "pick" could be whatever that breeder is particularly wanting from type, structure, temperament, color, health. It would be pet buyers who would think the word "pick" means the opportunity to select your own puppy. It is not uncommon for a breeder to offer a pet buyer the opportunity to choose from a couple of puppies that would be suitable for that particular home. I select all my puppies for their homes and I make this very clear to any inquirers during the screening process. The average pet home have very little idea about temperament and type and often get very emotive in their selection. I even go as far as to say to potential puppy people when they visit that I do not wish to hear them start mentioning favourites or getting closer to any individual puppy. This puts unnecessary pressure on a very tired breeder that they do not need.
