  1. There are a few things he probably should do, but seeing doesn't feel comfortable about approaching anyone about it, what about slapping on some dencorub before work and/or throwing a dry treat for the dog every time it comes near him. This way the dog may still hang around but its intentions may be different. so the dog won't want to touch him because of the smell, yet he will have a positive association with him from the treats. If I was your son and feeling the way he does, I'd be befriending the dog. No, he shouldn't have to, but it might be the least confrontational option.
  2. Definitely contact the breeder. If it is actually grass allergy, and grass allergy runs in their lines, I would give her an earful (or take her to small claims court). Allergies are a PITA, and can get very expensive. IMO an allergic dog is basically, defective. I have never understood why breeders make a big deal of doing hip/elbow testing, eye exams, etc., and don't bother to mention when their lines are allergy prone. YES!!! This!!! Allergies are genetic and hereditable. They are immunology based which is the core of a lot of disease. I would never ever breed with a dog with allergies. And if I bought one, I would be returning it. Not saying this is the case here, but just agreeing with Sandgrubber cause this is a very important issue to me.
  3. I would dearly love to do a full line up photo TTD. Getting owners together is very challenging :) I am seeing two of the puppies on sunday to do a health/growth check. so I'll take some photos then :) That serious face look is the look we are deliberately trying to get...it's a "show" thing. Not so much serious but closed mouth and certain angle :D
  4. DDD, Caz, PK, poochmad, bianca, thank you so much for all your lovely comments. It means a lot to me
  5. PK, good question. I love it Uhm... well I didn't take all these photos and none of them were taken by photographers, so the quality of the shots is crappy LOL. I think the puppies are soulful, but then I think all owners would find soul in their dogs if they developed that sort of relationship. I know I have incredibly soulful relationships with all my dogs. We connect on a special level and that is very important to me :)
  6. Thanks poochmad. The banner is the same dog, the dam of the puppies, Seven :)
  7. another one of Story. I am so thrilled with how she is developing. I must get some recent photos of Dance also. bloody photos are so hard :D
  8. Another thread reminded me I haven't posted updated photos for a while. Puppies are 5.5 months old and getting very big. They are all doing really well and I am so proud of them. So here is Legend
  9. You are very welcome S13 and thank you :) I wish you all the very best with your next dog. :)
  10. So sorry to hear you so recently lost another Stafford. Such a difficult time. Sounds as though all your dogs have led amazingly fulfilled lives :) And although I know where you are coming from, it seems a shame you aren't considering getting a Rottweiler again. It sounds as though you are a great Rotti owner and we do need more of these :) I never have trouble with public perception, in fact quite the opposite and my dogs go to leash free parks everyday and are very dog and people social. Being a bit cheeky here (grins) but I think you should reconsider this wonderful, versatile, magnificent, loyal and noble breed :D Just be very careful what breeder you choose :)
  11. Congratulations on making your decision, that is often the hardest part :) Have you found your breeder and they will have a puppy available for you in December? Regarding your concerns about leaving the puppy alone, you should not have any issues. The 3.5 weeks you have off are to be used in several ways - 1. safe socialisation every day. This involves taking your puppy out to smell, see, hear and experience novel environments/situations/people/dogs. So you pop the puppy into the car and off you go each day. This entire trip will only take an hour or so including travel. 2. Quality time inside and outside your home training your puppy and playing with your puppy. These should be 2-3 times a day each but for only 2-3 minutes. 3. If you look at how much time you are actually spending with the puppy during the awake hours of each day, it is a small portion compared to the rest of the time. This remaining time is super important. You need to be teaching your puppy to be comfortable and confident in its own company, not with you all the time. The first couple of days when puppy comes home, this is what I would be working on the most. The amount of quality time and training you put into this will set your puppy up for life. Much of this requires pre planning setting up your home (inside and out) to ensure that you are setting puppy up to win, not fail. Speak to your neighbours, take them a bottle of wine and some ear plugs and apologise in advance that your puppy may disturb them for the first week while it is settling in. This way when your puppy cries outside during the day or inside in its crate, you won't be worried about the neighbours and tempted to give in to your puppy. Also your puppy is less likely to carry on if it is habituated to being alone from the very beginning. Buy a lot of quality interactive toys and ensure all is ready to go. Spend time pretending you are going out and spy on your puppy. Practise going out for short period and parking up the road and retuning. Make no fuss when you leave and return. Use these weeks to get your puppy ready to be alone and you will be perfectly fine. Puppies can and do cope alone. However the likelihood of success is 100% up to you and your family to ensure he does not become overly needy in the first few days. Puppies need a lot of sleep, sometimes forced rest, use these times to initiate the alone times. Train, leave alone, play, leave alone, socialise, leave alone...rinse and repeat. all the very best :)
  12. That's so funny, I've always felt the same about names ending in Y. Although I did have Dyzney, cause it was part of the complete name I felt it was a bit different. I'm always a bit guarded with my names lists cause they are usually unusual and I get a bit disappointed when I see them crop up elsewhere, especially if I haven't had a chance to use it first :D therefore I'm unlikely to share ones I haven't had. Have had Jag, Fame, Seven, Karmen, Chelt, Luke, Rose, Rhyus, Kaiser, (quite a few I didn't name with Y on the end) Legend and Dance.
  13. We have 4 dogs, but one of these is my husbands dog, so I exercise my 3. Two of them are 5 month old puppies, so exercise in itself is still fairly minimal (in our breed). I do light exercise with them, but the vast majority of our outings are about training and socialization. Legend and Dance do short walks, made up of some off leash meandering at park or beach incorporating random recalls. We go to novel places and let them meet novel people. They go swimming once a week, again very small amounts. They wander and play at the beach and do a lot of dog/dog socialization also. They also attend dog school. I try to take them out every day, but occasionally they miss a day. If they don't go out we do lifestyle behaviours, formal obedience, show training or very minimal treadmill work. they are also doing herding intros. Their mother Seven, also goes out almost every day. We mix it up with her also. She will do bike work once a week, pool swimming once a week, beach swimming 2-3 times a week, treadmill, free running at off leash park and/or beach. Taking 3 dogs out separately is extremely time consuming, hence why occasionally one will miss a day here or there, but I don't have an issue with that at all. I work from home so I spend time with them off and on all day and it is good for them not to expect to go out. They are calm at home and can be left alone.
  14. I'd suggest you post this on as many of the Australian Herding groups on fb that you can find. All the best
  15. I did this video for a couple of puppy people yesterday in case anyone might find this helpful. The dog is not quite 5 months old, this is a front foot (which is nearly always more difficult to do than the rear) and this is the first time I have dremelled this puppy without having someone hold him. He is laying on his back on the couch and I am sitting alongside him. I've been dremelling nails this way for around7 years. This is our new dremel (third one) and we are very happy with it. It is the Dremel 3000-2/30 https://www.masters.com.au/product/100469973/dremel-3000-2-30-variable-speed-rotary-tool-kit?gclid=CM7alYWBqc0CFQdvvAodDPQOnw#product-overview Prior to the above dremel we had an electric stylus rotary tool that would not rotate slow enough. I could use it, but I didn't like it. And prior to that we had a battery operated one that was way too cumbersome in my hand... I am getting arthritic thumbs and it makes it difficult to use.
  16. Well done joining the group. If you want to follow the protocols with your puppy, most of them can be done successfully, but you really should buy the film video to step you through it. The group is mostly discussing the film. You won't learn enough just reading posts and comments in the group nor getting a full understanding of the protocols. Yep, we are at Positive K9 in Kew. I get there most Sundays and swap puppies. will probably train Legend this week. Might get to meet you there :) Yep I am doing the buying for 24hours option on the website :) they are great videos! Great idea isn't it, well done :)

  18. Thank you TTD :) Any dog can work on most of the PC protocols except for startle/recovery, which has to be performed at exactly the right age. I believe you know Sage :) Sage and her owner are doing amazing work, so proud of them both
  19. And this is just plain old silly and cute. Dance just being Dance - 4 months old
  20. Just an example of what I mean by how different these puppies are and how Puppy Culture protocols affects them, here is a video I took 2 weeks ago. This is Legend and 4 months old, having his very first swim, let alone swim in this pool. He blew me away as you will hear in my voice. Today Dance did exactly the same thing, swam confidently, in the centre of the pool, off leash and at times even took off swimming again unprompted. And this is Legend doing some loose leash walking at 3 months old. this wash his first group class.
