  1. Agree. I get the feeling the woman is actually blaming the dogs for the child going off??? ....so glad the kid is okay.
  2. "Experiencedfun" is asking what sort of format? in Off Topic.
  3. I guess like all reptiles they will be dependant on warmth for activity so winter would definitely be a slow, not doing much period for them...hence the idea of a "hibernation" although not technically correct in terms of say a bears hibernation. Given that underground has a constant warm year round temperature, so less activity above ground, less out and about sunning themselves, less need for food and less hunting, I would guess they are most active at mating season.
  4. Having seen Rimes on and off since he returned to Ellz I can vouch that his coat is improving all the time and I think you have made the right choice in entering Hobart Royal. Oh Ellz he really is coming along very nicely. He may not be exactly where you would like him to be (coat wise)come Royal day but you will have not had any need to worry about how he will stack up come that day. You can be very proud of your efforts. :)
  5. Thanks Bundyburger, Snap @ Rowville do our quarterly magazine and I will have a quote from them but I need some others as well. There are also various other "instant printers" in the area but I would like to talk to a conventional printer as well. It may be that they will suggest I use the instant printers, just covering my options to get the best product possible. I guess I have a way to go before I can post in Off Topic - should have kept my old ID S I put a post in "Off Topic" for you Airedaler. :)
  6. I also use "Sentinel" have been for a number of years. My dogs never have a flea problem and the German Shepherd lives outdoors and the Cavliers go to dog shows where, alas, they pick up the odd flea. Sentinel is great because not only does it render the fleas sterile so breaking the flea cycle, it also covers all the major intestinal worms and heartworm protection in a simple monthly dose. I used to add some eucalyptus oil to the rinse when I washed our old GSD, but now just use a simple shampoo as the current fellow has never had fleas.
  7. What a load of crap, have you ever actually lived there? We took our dog to the Middle East a few years ago and he travelled on the same flights as us. All of Europe is incredibly dog friendly, seeing a dog sitting in the restaurant of a 5 star hotel takes a bit of getting used to. A\ My sister has lived in London for 15 years. She loves the people and the culture, is accepted by both the natives and the ex-pats, and considers herself a Londoner now. She eventually got a dog because they are very dog tolerant over there. As to how you deal with people and relocating that will depend on your personality and how you get on with people in general (my mother had a very hard time immigrating from Austria, that had more to do with the language barrier I think). But that is not the OP's question in any case. Good luck with whatever happens. I'm sure we will still hear from you on DOL if you do go over!
  8. Yep...this is why I bought one...now I dust off the Cavaliers!
  9. The dog got Puppy of Breed (lovely young lad) , I did get her photo taken but haven't got a copy as yet!
  10. A huge congratulation to all the finalists...winners and placegetters alike! Great effort by all.
  11. I would never let a total stranger in my home or near my dogs! Hmmmm....maybe that's why I haven't had a holiday in 16 years!
  12. Where is that like button!!! LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE
  13. I for one would not want to be Judged by someone who has just decided they want to "become a Judge" and just sit an exam in order to do so. I would expect them to have a degree of experience in the Dog Show world, to me this would include Showing (sucessfully), which would include titling at least two dogs they bred themselves and not just riding on the back of another breeders selection! As to the timeline...10 years is not a long time in which to hone your skills and experience. I have been showing my breed or five years now and still consider myself to be at the tip of the ice berg in terms of learning.
  14. My Baby Puppy Bitch "Saffy" (Wandalier Sapphire Star) got 2nd in her class of 3 and my Puppy Bitch Emmalee (Wandalier Emerald Solitaire) got first in her Puppy class of 7.
  15. Actually, now that I look at it closely I wonder if it is a "manufactured shot". There is no trace of any mud around the puddle, just grass. The poor dog may have been told to 'drop" and then buckets of pre-mixed mud may have been poured over just for the shot?? He is just so well covered.
  16. I don't think overdosing will help in any way. Just take it with you and if you are away when the two weeks comes up..apply again. You'll probably have to do tick check regularly still anyway.
  17. No Kirislin. It came with an email with lots of pictures of naughty dogs, most had reaped great havoc and destruction on lounge suites, venitian blinds, etc. I like this because he wasn't actually naughty...just having fun....and with permission by the look of it...and I thought I may as well post it as no-one is going to recognise this boy as anyones! Barely breed recognisable.
  18. I'm not really finding any affect on my dogs teeth though. ETA Actually there IS an improvement! Just brushed a heap of gunk off!!!! Going to order some from the above site. If it's the botanical name it's the same thing. :)
  19. It's such a good mud wallow too...must be hippos or elephants where they live!
  20. A little Maltese X rescue I once had used to hump my moccassins if they were left unattended when I first got her. She used to wrap herself around the slipper and bounce across the floor! Sorry, but it really was hysterical to see, the first few times anyway. She learnt not to do this and I learnt to put my slippers away! She was entire all her 17 years though no puppies, at least while I had her anyway. I got her at about 18 months.
  21. It is really sad. It also shows why I was prepared to go to extreme lengths to identify this one. I have four dogs here and I can't fence off the entire back yard because the burrows are everywhere. I don't think there is anyway of really protecting your dog from a potential spider bite.
  22. Agree. It's not so much about age as support and arrangements...at any age. My sister in England recently asked me if anything happened to her whether I would take her dog. Of course. It was a huge burden off her shoulders.
  23. Don't you love how he's got his eyes squeezed shut because of the mud! I hope there is a lake, river, creek or dam nearby!!!!
