  1. Or you could book an extra seat! :D
  2. Or you can have a purpose built wooden if you prefer.
  3. Yes. Plastic PP-- are approved for all international flight and have been for some time now.
  4. Our eldest bitch Bonnie usually gets eye crust washed by us daily. Her eyes have been clean for ages..why? Little Emmalee loves to clean "Aunty" Bonnies face.
  5. A strong possibility..or share.
  6. and then , if/when they are spoken to .........the behaviour may well escalate fences & doors are flimsy things...and a lady alone ... One has to be careful..if this is the "minority group" it sounds like they truly do believe dogs are filth. That won't change in a few generations...certainly not in time to benefit your Great Aunt. Also they come from a Country that is not afraid of conflict....
  7. Thank goodness. They had a very sick budgie there once and i told the staff. They had no idea untill i told them the bird was suffering. They also didn't know which birds were male or female.Hope all pet stores will stop selling animals and birds. Haha...yes..we once bought some Love Birds from a Pet Shop..was told they were a couple...well yes, they were...we called them Siegfried & Roy.
  8. Getting a bit OT here, but yes,I have noticed the same thing and its accelerating as horses are seen more as companion animals rather than working animals. We get a whole new class of breeders starting who have no working background with horses before they start their Studs.Sires are selected based on winnings in halter rather than performance. Being a breeder seems to be seen as a status thing, Purity becomes more important and more stud books close, while new breeders rely more and more on halter winners only. It becomes about the picture, rather than the efficency of the breed for their specialiality. Very much worse in the minis I think, who aren't generaly expected to "Work".We have already been hearing of breeders used that have been sugicaly altered to mask unsoundness.Interference is becoming more accepted over culling and problems in all breeds are becoming the norm, rather than just lines that will fade out. This has been seen in some of the Straight Egyptian lines of the Arabian horse. Some looking so delicate that they would not manage well as a saddle horse, let alone an Endurance animal, been bred primarily as Halter Show Horses.
  9. Me too. Get all my horse feed there. :) Hey, taketwo, your a long way from QLD!
  10. We could use a Pet Supplies store there!
  11. The person who asked. It's just a discussion and something that does interest people. I'm always being asked what breeds my dogs are (all rescued from various pounds). It's called having a conversation about something that interests you :) :) It's also against the rules of DOL. Silly rule IMO. And one that's not enforced, so I wonder why it's even bothered to be a rule in the first place. Probably like backing out of a driveway and changing a light bulb. Both of which are "against the rules" in Australia! We ALL do it.

  13. Our local Shopping Mall has had a Pet Shop there for years (not part of a chain) that sells animals, including puppies and kittens. Went shopping on Saturday and noticed it was closed and empty....hope they are not refurbishing...and if they are that the new model does not sell pets. They were a well presented establishment with great products, that I couldn't buy on principle. Let's hope. This Pet Shop has now re-opened as a "Petsco" Pets Supplies Shop that has an Adoption Program. They have lots of lovely doggie stuff and there were many people milling through today which is great! :)
  14. wow that is awesome. Now I am going to have to think about Cindy & Waldo's ribbons as well. I don't have much wall space...could get tricky with multiple dogs :)
  15. Beats the horse manure out of my coat hanger and pegs! Someone I know uses a pience of stretchy curtain hanger.
  16. Don't you kid yourself..not all puppies are submissive...our youngest beats the hell out of her sister who is six months older than her..she bites her ears, legs and beats up on her mercilessly. It really depends on who is more outgoing. At 9 months Emmalee was still quite submissive but Saffy at 3 months is pushy and doesn't back down! Now at 10 months and 5 respective she is starting to settle in her play.
  17. So many good answers to what I think is the answer to the question..."What do people hope to achieve when breeding their chosen breed?". What is actually betterment is truly open to interpretation. To contribute to the soundness and aesthetic pleasantness of any breed is to potentially make it more popular and possible in turn find this breed become over represented by all types of breeders both "ethical" "registered" and "BYB hobbyists" alike...which could ultimately contribute to it's over representation in the community and ultimately result in more irresposible breeding, a larger percentage of said breed being found in Pounds etc. and the result a far cry from any "betterment" of the breed as a whole. So really the end result may be only the betterment of one breeders line and the detriment of the breed as a whole.
  18. X1 X2 Also if my dogs have the runs I usually fast them for 24 hours and then put them on boiled chicken & rice.
  19. Same. Love the ground flowing coats. Also large breeds. It reminds me of the days I used to run alongside my Arbian horses in halter classes.
  20. Contact Advance on their website to enquire Pockets.
  21. Well done Kirislin! Great photos. My mother in laws Whippet bitch never bothered her hens. I had a Schipperke that killed one of our chikens once...never said boo to them up until then and one day...POW!...she got told off plenty at the time...found her with dead chicken and guilt written all over her face. Didn't kill another chicken for 7 years, then went on a bender and killed a bunch of over a period of two weeks. That's when she went to live with my mum.
  22. Congratulation Becs. Oooh Ahhh....he looks lovely. Crufts....we can only dream here. :)
  23. Probably an over emotional, kneejerk reaction to being aked about the dogs when all she could think about was that her child was safe and that her worst nightmare was over. Also likely to be poorly reported. In all likelyhood staying with the dog(s) probably saved the child from great harm. Of course following them out the gate in the first place.....
