Does anyone know of a place that sells Nutrience cat food but DOESN'T sell animals? Either in SA or internet order is fine but I can't find anyone who has it in stock and I am about to run out The variety I am looking for is Nutrience Supreme Cat Formula. So far the only place I have managed to find it at is at Toucan Pet Centre (who unfortunately do sell puppies)

Me too Can't wait! So who else is having a private consult? They are all sold out already!! -
Thanks for the link! That price is awesome, I may just buy one anyway! Although thanks to a lovely DOLer, I do have a wire one to borrow now Excellent! Glad you found one
-
Try and see if you can borrow one Cassie. There might be someone else who is coming to the workshop either without their dog or who has a spare crate that they can bring along Don't ask me though. When I realised that I wouldn't be able to fit my big c-crate in the car I went out and bought a brand new soft crate instead ETA: just a thought if you are unable to borrow or hire one- TopBuy have really cheap large soft crates at the moment. They also have some thing going where you sign up to the newsletter and get a $20 discount http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Lightwe...79cm-p14756.htm In that case the crate in the link above would work out to be less than $50. I know they have deals on free postage sometimes too.

She obviously finds tug to be the most rewarding game of all, if it were me I'd be giving it a go. Don't see why you can't still use the clicker if you really wanted to (eg to mark a certain behaviour) but use the tug reward rather than a food reward

Hi Shelle, I really ummed and ahhed about this one too. In the end I decide to go with a C3 booster last month (when Kei was 17 months) and will either not vaccinate or titre test from now on depending on the situation. From what I have understood after speaking to some local vets and doing some online research, a dog has a much better chance at developing lifelong immunity from vaccination after they are 6 months old - though I may be completely wrong about that so please do not take it for gospel . There are plenty of threads about it if you do a search too Oh and from what I understand the vaccine which is labelled as a 3 yearly is different from the annual which is now recommended to be given 3 yearly if that makes sense. There was a thread on it in he health forum a few months back.

Wow, thanks for all the answers! I'll do a search for the letter this week. I remember that my Oma listed who each person was and when and where the photos where taken, most were taken in Holland where she was born but her mother was German so some of the very old pics where taken in Germany (unless I can determine the age of the photo I have no idea where this particular one was taken). She may have even listed the dogs breed as well but I can't remember. If I can find any more info I'll add it in later. Have to agree though, it is a nice old photo

My Oma sent me some very old family photos a few years back. I can't find the letter that went with it but this pic would have been taken in either Germany or Holland in the early 1900's (or possibly late 1800's). Does anyone know what breed the dog in the pic is? I thought maybe a German Shepherd but after doing a Google search I'm not so sure... or if the pic was taken in Holland maybe it is a Dutch Shepherd?

I'm sure there has been a thread about this before... Maybe you could try a search and see what comes up? *eta* found it http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=taxidermists

Have you thought about trying an elimination type diet with him to find out exactly what he is allergic too? It could be anything - grains, protiens, preservatives... I'd be inclined to say that the fresh fruit/veg in the BARF diet would be a better option as it doesn't have grains in it. What are you feeding at the moment?

Well since you already KNOW I'm coming you'd better just send me an invoice  -
If she can't get down to the vet for an injection what will she do if the dog need a c-section?? Is there no local vet where she is??

I *think* that I want a dog from working lines next time around, so i would be looking at a puppy that is unlikely to be ANKC registered. However this is a long term plan and I'm not looking to get another dog any time soon. DOL has influenced me, but maybe in different ways to others... I would NOT buy a puppy from a pet store or BYB regardless.

I was quoted exactly the same price. It is through Gribbles and as far as I was told the tests are a 'package' and cannot/will not be separated. The thing is that hep and distemper dont come as seperate vaccines (only parvo does), so if your dog has low levels for say distemper but a good level of immunity for parvo will you re-vaccinate for all 3?

Cream cheese spread and a Kong biscuit or some broken up bits of dried liver if I'm in a hurry. You could try smearing a little canned food in there and a handful of dry as something easy. Or a bit of cheese then whack it in the microwave for a few second to get the cheese to melt and stick to the side (make sure it's cool before you give it to the dog. Kong puppy paste is good - but expensive. Mince meat is another option, as are any suitable left overs that you might have in the fridge. Honey, vegemite, chicken necks/wings..... Get yourself one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Bamboo-Kong-Dog-Toy...228129001r12659 if you are having trouble cleaning the bits out from the top. As for the dogs, they will get it out - dont worry about that

Yep, I'm glad that I know what it is now too Kei has never been overweight but he did have a recent tummy bug which caused him to lose a slight amount of weight and made the rib much more obvious and easy to feel. Interestingly enough the area of his back where he was out relates back to digestive health issues so it may hve all been inter-related all along.
-
Just thought I'd update this. We had our chiro appointment today (the Bowen therapist wouldn't touch Kei in case there was a dis-placed rib so straight to chiro). It turns out cavNrott was right - Kei's 'lump' is most certainly an extra rib!

I Am At My Wits End And Do Not Know What To Do
Red Fox replied to Anastascia's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes, speak to Steve about the distance program. It's really quite easy (the DLP) if you are willing to put in the time to train Another suggestion - where do you walk them? If you are wanting to train loose leash walking you really need to be starting in a very low distraction environment and then slowly working your way up. You might have to find somewhere really boring to start of with -
Limit Register And Travelling Overseas

What I mean for holiday is that when we go back to our country for school holiday(we are university students), we will bring the pup back as well because we wont leave it here to a dog accommodation(I trust myself more =p). My OH is from Macau and I am from Indonesia. If we were to bring the dog back to holiday, it will probably be to Macau because I am not to keen to bring the dog back to Indonesia(not that clean). We are planning to work here after we graduate so bringing the dog back is a short-term thing. Nicola Personally I'd be waiting until AFTER you graduate to get the pup -
Dogstardaily.com has lots of tips on crate training. There plenty of threads about it here on DOL too if you do a search
