  1. well he was up again in the night and definitely not himself. A bit restless. So I'm waiting for the vets to open to get an appt for today. Thanks for your thoughts. Last time he had something similar it took about two days to clear and was right, but thus will be the third day now.
  2. He is 7 yrs. About 8.4kg. He is happy to eat and drink. I give him some of the chicken broth made from the chicken. I guess now i'll see how he is in the morning. if the stools are firm in the morning, i guess he is getting better. IF they r still runny, I'll see the vet.
  3. One of mine has had diarrhea since about 1am Thursday morning (its friday night now). He normally doesn't want to go out in the middle of the night but did that night (wednesday night). So yesterday I cut his meals in half. Then on Thursday I came home to a runny poo inside. He then did another runny one in the middle of the night again. So I'm now feeding just plain boiled chicken breast (& a tiny bit a rice). No diarrhea during th day today, but a runny poo late this arvo again. He seems good in spirits and in every other respect OK. What else can I do to get him right. Would you go to the vet yet. It doesn't seem worse, maybe slightly better.
  4. Thanks for your comments. This boy is a real softie too. And i'm a worry wart.
  5. I have a little shih tzu cross. He had had a problem before where he didn't want to walk one morning, just wanted to sit. That was a few years ago. Eventually it was solved. Well it started again. He is usually the first out the door, but for a few days, he just wants to sit. I went to vet and we couldn't find anything wrong, except his anal glands were full and were expressed. Now I think his backside is still a bit sore, and from time to time, doesn't want to walk. This morning he was fine, this evening, just wants to sit. Has anyone else had this sort of sign (wanting to sit and not walk) as a sign of anal gland problems?
  6. Drontal Chewables are definitely the best. They eat them as if they were treats. I'll use these all the time now.
  7. I emailed Dr Bs Barf patties and they claim to have no preservatives and do not use sulphur dioxide. I guess the frozen products don't need the sulphur dioxide as it is frozen.
  8. What about the frozen meats? Do pet foods have to list sulphur dioxide if its in it?
  9. A friend of mine said her vet said that NONE of the fresh pet meat products (rolls or barf patties) are without sulphur dioxide. Concerns were raised that it causes thiamine deficiencies. She said the pet food market is unregulated (I guess implying that even if they said they didn't have it, they do as there is no regulation). Does any one know which ones have it and wich ones don't? Is this a storm in a tea cup? Thanks
  10. In my opinion if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  11. whats EPO? I use episoothe and find that quite good.
  12. I emailed Dr Bs site and got this reply: Ingredients in “Dr B’s Genuine Aussie Raw” is genuine Australian grown. Sincerely Ian Billinghurst
  13. Eaglepack has this now on its website. Sorry if u have read this before as i posted on another thread too coz I think it was relevant. http://eaglepack.com.au/HealthInformation/...21/Default.aspx

  15. One of mine about 2 years ago just woke up one day and didn't want to walk for more than5 metres. He just kept on sitting. Normally he loves his walks but didn't want to walk at all. I took him to the vets a couple of time of this as we couldn't work out what was wrong. To cut a long story short, we think it was muscular, like a sore muscle/strain. The only thing that really made a difference was a injection of metacam (antiinflammatory), and a course of oral metacam for about 5 days. He slowly got better. Its better that your inlaws are worry warts rather than not caring i think. I's be happier leaving mine with someone that was a worry wart.
  16. I use megaderm, purchased from petbarn. It has some other ingredients too that I assume are good for the skin.
  17. Now he has started to put a little weight back on his foot. I even walked him to the footpath and he walked almost normally. I cancelled my appt this morning, they were very nice about it and reminded me if i want to bring him in later just to call. I just didn't want to hog valuable vet time when there might be more urgent problems this w/end for the vets. I think he will get better. I even go off my food when they r not well. Can u imagine what i'll be like when they r really sick. I'll need the medication.
  18. I'm so glad i'm not the only one that worries so much. Very similar to your story so far. Last night, you'd think he had only three legs. Marginally better this morning but wouldn't hop up like usual. No walkies this morning. The other dog is looking sad in sympathy. I have an appt this morning at about 11am. I'd rather be sure that I have done everything possible to make sure he is right. Thanks for your feedback.
  19. Thanks for your comments. When they're not well, i get down in the dumps too. He ate his dinner as normal tonite. That's a good plan, it helps to have a good plan.
  20. Sam went for a walk this morning as usual. Then around 10am this morning, I asked the dogs if they wanted to go outside and they just raced out. Then 3 minutes later I noticed Sam in the yard holding his right front paw up, as if he has a biindi. I couldn't find anything, but he kept on limping. I have examined the paw quite thoroughly, pads, between the pads, the leg, bending the leg and joints, and he doesn't really react at all. I washed it water also. No swelling no bruising, but eh limping continues and he looks a little sad. If there was something sticking into the paw (eg biindi) i imagine he would react when the paw gets pushed. If he injured his leg, I would also imagine he would react when i bend his leg or push his leg bone a bit. I have no idea. Any ideas? I could take him to the vet 2morrow, but i don't know what they could do to determine the cause. Its only six or so hours. I am an anxious parent.
  21. wow! such good news! pls keep up posted on the progress.
  22. oK. I think i'll try the drontal chewable next. with a little bit of liver or cooked chicken. that might work. And i think I will wait till they are starving too. like hold their dinner late by a few hours. i must say , i think the tablets smell disgusting myself.
  23. I've just tried to worm my dogs again this morning and from past experience they hate the stuff. This time I mashed the endoguard tablet up, mixed it with mixed beef, some veges, tinned salmon, and some natures gift, and liver treats. They picked and picked and picked and left half of it. Failed. They are supposed to be palatable. I have tried the chews too and they hate them too. In your opinion which worming treatment tastes the best for your dogs? Any secrets to getting them eaten? Thanks
  24. Hey, i bought a beef chew from woolies the other day and its says its made from beef pizzle. has anyone tried this? is it the same as rawhide?
