  1. it does ask if you are with an ANKC state body a fair way in but otherwise any breeder can do it. I don't recall if they had a no option for the ANKC bit as I wasn't looking for it
  2. at 4 weeks I would ditch the bottle and go straight to soaked dry food and minced meat - human grade. 4 feeds a day. Agree with showdog, overfeeding will not make them bigger faster. They will grow to their own agenda.
  3. Years ago I had to tell the next neighbours not to let their visiting grandchild feed my 3 dogs Goodo's under the fence. It was a minute gap and my fear was not the dog/s biting the fingers, but if the child got a fright and pulled back the metal fence could have caused damage my dogs would have been blamed for. Sorry but the blame lies with the 8 yo and the supervising adult.
  4. if she wants to be. Maybe Mum has had enough, in which case it's time for you to start feeding ( and cleaning ) the pups. One of my bitches called it quits at 3 weeks with her 2nd litter.
  5. My only question would be, if I am reading your post right, is why you continued to throw the ball when you knew a resource guarder was close by? But I don't think you have a problem dog.
  6. That's great news. FWIW I've had a dog that was in a coma for over 2 days, suspected poisoning, and he made a full recovery. Knocked the stuffing out of him for several weeks but all was well in the end.
  7. I can tell you that puppies can make very aggressive sounds while playing! I wouldn't worry as long as it's only happening while Kyra is playing with toys. Glad all seems to be going well.
  8. I'm guessing that happens with her 6 week check up? There are a few diseases that the parents should have been tested for, those are the health tests you need to see. Staffy's aren't my breed so I can't think of the names of them. They are DNA tests. Look up your states breed club. They will have the names. Unpapered staffy pups are a dime a dozen in pounds and rescues. If you think you might want to breed then you should be thinking about doing it the right way, which is with a fully registered pup who comes from health tested parents and who is health tested herself before being bred from and that the sire is also properly registered and tested. And that you have joined your states governing body and hopefully done a few shows to see if your girl is actually good enough to contribute to the gene pool. It is not easy, nor cheap, to do things the right way but the dogs will be much less likely to pay the price. Do it the wrong way and the dogs are more likely to end up in the pound, and/or with a disease they need not have got, and not overly bred from themselves. If you really love the breed then you should really think hard about doing things the right way.
  9. Have you seen the health test results? The pup could have a touch of mange. Will you be getting main rego papers for her?
  10. Thanks for the tips This is her kibble soaked in a little boiling water and milk.. she wont eat it unless i mush it up to pretty much weetbix. . Should i keep doing what I am doing or just let her figure it out and chew it The Advance kibble is quite large! ! I've never fed Advance so no idea of size. At 4 weeks I would still be mushing it up but she should be able to eat it dry by 6 weeks. And Nekhbet is right, if she can't chew dry she won't be able to chew the chicken necks yet. Coles has brisket bones.
  11. ok she needs more then you are giving her. I'd be looking at 2 cups a day of your advance, 4 feeds of 1/2 a cup and 2 feeds of the chicken necks maybe 3 at each meal. My youngest is only 14 months old but I was feeding a litter so am struggling with individual amounts. Now we know she is 2 kilos other's maybe able to help with actual amounts?
  12. must admit that was the first thing I noticed as well
  13. Thankyou! Thats all I am doing is puppy milk mixed with her feeds. Im doing one tablespoon of soaked kibble and then 1-2 table spoons of milk.. is that enough or too much. . I don't want to under feed her How much does she weigh? And is she ravenous? And underfeeding her for a day or two won't be harmful. The food you are giving her will be vastly different to what she is used to anyway. And her name? We need a name :D
  14. there is no reason to give your puppy milk unless you want to. Just a small amount with her dry food is all she needs. Have water available at all times. None of my pups had milk once the bitch closed up shop. I usually don't bother with puppy food beyond 12 weeks. Nothing wrong with the Advance you are feeding. Your pup should be able to handle raw chicken necks at this age so I would be making one meal of them. Try for about 5 - 6 little feeds per day now and ease off to 4 by 6 weeks, then 3 until around 10/12 weeks. I feed my dogs twice a day from then on. But I can be pretty flexible with meals until they are around 6 months. Keep it fairly simple and not too many changes for now. Slowly add in extra's that you want like eggs, sardines etc but not yet. Upset tummies can be the death of pups and your won't have had a good start. Good luck! My very first pup was a 4 week old pup and I was a first time dog owner and there was no internet or special foods around back then and she lived to 13 :)
  15. Bit hard with only one test. I'd be thinking about doing prog tests starting from about 60 days and taking it from there for a planned c section
  16. Dogs are imported to add to the gene pool usually. I'm importing frozen semen for the same reason
  17. pity they have a limit of 2 per customer when I own 3 dogs
  18. If you were to buy a pup from me I would basically pick for you as well. I know my pups, I know who are more laid back, more mischief making etc. I would suggest a male pup cause you already have a female but I would be asking lots of questions about your female, her likes and dislikes, tolerances etc and go from there and if I thought I had a girl who would suit better then that it the one I would suggest. If there were a couple who would suit then you might be given the choice between the two. That's what I do :D
  19. Love them but maybe Ronin needs a selfie stick on top of the harness so the camera is above his fur :D
