  1. ...in this source from another angle; I don't call this a sound fence to contain powerful dogs, however, I don't know how it looks from the inside. If there is nothing that would hinder the dogs from digging their way through it is definitely not suitable. so your dog is contained in an escape proof yard?
  2. I only have paw print vet bed. Need to get some of the other pattens. At times there is me, 3 greyhounds and a cat on the queen bed. Not much room????
  3. OMG I can't even begin to count the blankies! Mainly polar fleece throws at $5 a pop from K-Mart. But I have two large wire crates in the house with bedding in them, then there is the single bed mattress on the floor in the lounge plus the couch. Then I have 3 tramp beds under cover outside, a double kennel and 2 more tramp beds in the yard. The kennel has raised floor within with bean bags and blankies. The under cover tramp beds should have bedding but Phoebe often drags it around the yard. Not a big problem in the warmer weather. Then there are the multiple dog coats of different sizes and thicknesses for each dog depending on the weather. Dry dog bedding, I think about 10 pieces. I just washed some, it's around 7 years old and does as bedding in the car and mats on the floor but I think the 3 pieces I washed today might not make it back into the house. Oh and I have a couple of heated dog beds that the cat usually sleeps on and 2 memory foam mats as well. Plus my queen size bed. And the hessian covered mats in the corner of my bedroom with blankies on it. I think that is it PS and 3 old pillows for them to rest their heads on, on a couple of the inside spots
  4. I don't feed them regularly but have never had a problem
  5. Scottie is quite the fan too - but only in batons, not in discs. I just chuck whole ones out into the back yard for them
  6. I carry muzzles in the car and my dogs are used to them but no way would I subject them to a store where they could easily be hurt. And mainly by a feral brat with a kids trolley.
  7. I've seen pot plant holders used. Take your bowl with you to a gardening store. I just plonk mine on boxes, upturned buckets, chair seats, top step with dog standing below.
  8. A pet needs parents that have had all relavent health testing done as well. The health tests are very important for all dogs.
  9. TCI is a lot newer then Surgical. I think you will find a lot of people who have done surgical in the past are now doing TCI. TCI does get it to the same spot, the rod/tube goes through the cervix so the semen is deposited into the uterus directly. Frozen semen, once thawed, has a "life" of approx an hour so must be put right into the uterus. It has no time to swim from the vaginal tract into the uterus. Last I read, Monash Vets, one of the leading repo vets, says there is no difference in the success rate of either method but of course your bitch doesn't have the risk of a general if you use TCI. And for your last question, yes and yes.
  10. With TCI the semen is deposited into the uterus directly, the tube passes through the cervix. Bitches can be sedated but yes still need to be accepting of the whole thing. You can use surgical or TCI with fresh semen as well but not that common. I doubt I would ever do a surgical on a bitch with fresh but I would do a TCI. There is also an option for chilled semen. Again I would do a TCI if using chilled semen. Chilling semen allows you to get semen from Perth to Melb for example without the expense of freezing, it has a longer life inside the bitch then frozen.
  11. sounds like she is talking about surgical implant of frozen semen and it does leave a scar. You can have a TCI (trans cervical implant) which is inserted throught the cervix. Advantage of TCI is no general anesthetic is needed.
  12. do not vaccinate a puppy with loose stools. Also do not vaccinate her again if she was done at 8 weeks. Give your pup some chicken wings (RAW), always helps firm mine up. Do a fecal float but do not worm again until 12 weeks unless a problem is shown.
  13. same, in a corner of the kitchen
  14. This pretty well how my last litter went. All verbal agreement and still best of friends
  15. for God's sake of course he is old enough to sire a litter and has been for months. As for breeders breeding for money, how insulting you are. Don't just join this site to whinge. Read a bit and open your very closed mind. So sick of people like you coming in here badmouthing breeders.
  16. Send the dog back then. Sounds like you have you nose out of joint cause they aren't paying you for the dogs services. As with the other person complaining they are hard done by, I don't necessarily agree with these terms, but you agreed to them so now you have to live with them.
  17. yes. I agree with most of this sentiment - but it depends on the terms of the agreement. Did they say "I can have access to the dog whenever I want, for however long, for the rest of the dog's life"? Either agree to it, or say "no" and be prepared for them to go to the petty claims court (or whatever it is called these days). Re: the rule re: breeders. Any breeder who sells a dog to a stranger on breeding terms with no actual contract can't be that responsible. not much of a stranger if they have house sat, dog sat etc
  18. I don't understand why you would be expected to pay full price if she is on breeders terms. Be thankful it is only one litter and I hope it all goes smoothly for her. As for the tent offer.. Breeding dogs without terms for this breed and several others is !0 to 15 thousand. Panlu has already stated they paid full price so no need to pull figures out of thin air! Thats not figures out of thin air - she paid full price for a pet puppy not full price for a breeding puppy. so what breed is it Steve?
  19. I've done this in the past with great success. At dusk go outside and hose the tree/vine making the birds fly away. After only a few days the birds find somewhere else to roost and don't come back.
  20. I was there this morning and was only in there for 5 minutes max! No dogs with me.
  21. and what's with this? from the same link "Ms Hungerford said her daughter is at home recovering from the bite today. 'She can't go to kinder so she's is a little upset,' she told 3AW." of course she could have gone to kinder, she has a sore knee, nothing more.
  22. When you are sleep deprived it can be hard to see the good things. Yay for your puppy who is asking to go out and then settling when back inside! I 2nd everyone who is saying the diet has changed around way too much and is most likely the main reason for 4 poos overnight. I also 2nd the raw chicken wings as the last meal before bed but I would give them an hour before bed which leaves time for a good wee and poo before settling for the night.
  23. I'm very happy for my dog not to be walked. I like outdoor runs attached so the dog can choose what to do. I've seen a kennel up my way actually walk the dogs down their driveway and out onto the road. Too bad if it got away from the person.
  24. I believe the guide dogs take back their bitches for around 8 weeks, 2 weeks before whelp until pups are 6 weeks old. And for mutiple litters
