Ask them. They should be keeping a record of every dog that goes through there. I know at rspca Vic when I was there we did a spreadsheet every June and Nov detailing breeds, breed x's, numbers and outcomes. They may not wish to give it to you but if you present a good case to the ppl who matter who may be able to get that info off the orgs directly...

Given she's had broken legs etc in the past - is it possible she's skipping as a habit of walking funny after/because of the surgeries? I know if a sheltie who skips with the diagonally opposite leg to the one she broke out if habit fromwhen it was broken. Though she is skipping less and less and almost grown out of it now. The owners did scan and check for other possible injuries at the initial signs...

No photo but my dog has a fancy buddy bed in the blue check. I have a medium for a mini schnauzer cos he likes to stretch. He's had it for 5 years and it's only needed re-stuffing once in the middle pillow bit :) Also alke - the pic of your two little ones is a fuzzyard bed? Another Aussie brand...

Kelpiecuddles - I work at a store that adopts out cats through pets haven and thats how we run it too, in fact no adult cat is adopted without extensive questions and conversation. We also detail extensively how to introduce cats to each other and adult data to a new environment successfully. The application process at petsco is supposed to be similar. I have concerns that selling stuff with the animals is more important than the homes...

Rural pug: no they don't have other animals that will be adopted undesexed - it basically means the animals that haven't had vet work done yet and applications can be put in for them, however the animal won't leave their care until vet work is done. Cosmolo: they aren't beholden to GAWS adoption processes, however they have their own. An application must be put in for the animal, then approved. Once approved the customer has to wait 24 hrs til they can pick up the animal. There is also a 7 day cooling off period. However I'm not sure the animals are getting the required attention or exercise, as the amount of staff members to animals needing the attention as well as selling the products is concerning.

They're adopted out to petsco - or ownership transferred. The change of chip number form has petsco listed as the owners of animals adopted through them. So animals in their store won't be on the GAWS site.

Sorry, to clarify - they treat the sick animals & have hygiene/quarantine procedures in place etc. Was just giving a reason why animals might be out the back. I know they hate leaving animals at GAWS if they dont have to

The guy who owns it used to be an area manager for pp. The shop's often 'foster' animals that are either sick (kennel cough, cat flu) or too young out the back. As far as I know they are trying to do the right thing but getting in a little deep or something. Feel free to pm me for more info

Yeah I use the omega oil to and am happy with the results. Heard that some of the topicals like the itchy paw, ear clean etc are pretty good - so if you decide to add the digestivite plus I'd love to hear how it goes :)

Cool, I've no idea if it has the same effect on dogs but thought safety first :) Otherwise slippery elm is the bomb! Have you tried the Natural Animal Solutions digestivite plus? I've heard some good things about other items in the range..

Does anyone know where they source the fish from? I always worry about how the fish was caught/farmed in pet foods etc (thats actually a worry of mine generally though)

Maybe be careful with slippery elm - I've fed it to horses with scouring issues but you can't feed it to pregnant mares or mares you want to get pregnant or it can abort the pregnancy. It does help with loose poo but make sure you're not planning pups or breeding the dog

Please call the police and rspca - we don't want her getting poor narla and any of the pups back after all your hard work getting them healthy and happy

The cats need somewhere they feel safe- either a room, high spot or cat run where they can get away from him. Otherwise just keep doing what you're doing :) I personally always prepare and feed the cats first, wait until they're done and then set about with the dog's dinner. While the cats are eating I do some training nearby but not close enough to pee off the cats!

So cute! And doing so well for such a baby - clearly the positive rewards from the owner are working :)

Can you get the microchip doors in sizes big enough for dogs mup? I've only seen them in cat sizes?

She talked about what effects pets have on us, why we like them/what we get out of the relationship and some interesting scientific studies that have been done. A good talk, but perhaps more aimed at everyday people rather than animal people like I had hoped - but it was the first talk the group has put on so they were very keen for feedback :)

Anyone in melbs going to any of the talks this group are putting on? First one is tonight in Windsor. I think they're about how dogs and animals understand us?
