  1. Maybe because I am such a newb people will set me wrong but when people say "I breed for working, not confirmation" Surely an animal with correct confirmation will be better at working then an animal without? I know for dogs attitude/instinct comes into it too
  2. My breeder charges more for show pups, but so do many US Chessie breeders, it seems to be the done thing in my breed. However I think the difference is the amout my breeder is spending on advertising campaigning the show puppies of the litter.
  3. Same feeling here Mirawee! Would love some green grass, instead of this yellow stuff!
  4. Yes I keep meaning to bring it to things! You have an obidience trial the 22nd right? I should be showing at K9 so if your trial is there I can give it to you then.
  5. Hang onto it, no rush Agility right from the start is my bible now.
  6. Put that fatty on diet! Just kidding he looks great. Not sure I will make it to Eden Hills tomorow Tiggy, will wait and see how the pup is feeling, what the weather is like and if he will let me tape a plastic bag around his bandage. Me and Toby are going back to foundation work with agility to build on drive and focus so I don't think we will be at agility training for a few weeks.
  7. Vet X-rayed to check if infection had spread to the bone (it hadn't) so bandaged the foot and gave AB's via injection and tablets for me to give at home.
  8. Lincoln has a cut on his nail bed which is infected but X-Ray shows that the infection has not spread to the bone. The foot was all bangaged up and treated with antibiotics from the vet and I have to give him them everyday for 2 weeks. Will have to take a pic of him ith his bandage its so cute! The little guy also weighs 27 kilos Though he dosn't look overweight. Does he Ptolomy? (or anyone else who has seen him recently?)
  9. Have him booked in for tomorow. He tripped when playing this afternoon and it started to bleed all over again. I am thinking maybe he has damaged whatever holds the nail tight so he keeps knocking it and reopening the wound(?)
  10. Another question re registrations. Lincoln is registered with DogsVic so that means title applications must go to them right?
  11. Would waiting till Wednesday to take him to the vet be cruel the vet probabl would only put him on antibiotics which he dosen't need right now? I am cleaning it with salt water an spraying an antiseptic on it (specially designed for animals one) and it is not hot.
  12. Cider is entered - pending her SFE not being broken :D Are you showing the weekend after or at the gun dog club sow the next day?
  13. Me and Lincoln SHOULD be there but we might have to leave a little early cause I have to work. I don't know if you know but it starts at 12.30 now. We will also be there the next day for Gundog Club show. ;) Yes, I noticed all the ads throughout the latest K9 news. Which is why I thought I might head along. Im heading to Perth that weekend anyway, so it would be nice to spend the arvo at the dog show before heading further north to my brothers place. And I may catch up with people I didnt get to see at the Western Classic! But I WONT be bringing cake :D :p Rat It is looking more and more like we will be moving down south Rat, but it's not likely to happen for 12 months. We are ;) over Ferguson Valley!
  14. We even had names for all the dogs in Rhodes! That black staffy looking bitch was my fav, she used to follow me around and we would have lunch togther most days. :D
  15. Me and Lincoln SHOULD be there but we might have to leave a little early cause I have to work. I don't know if you know but it starts at 12.30 now. We will also be there the next day for Gundog Club show. :D
  16. Today while walking my dogs in the bush with a friend a joey and my friends lab collided! :p Both were ok though and the lab and Lincoln recalled from the roo right away :D (Toby came up a minute later, puffed, obviously the one who had chased the roos towards us!)
  17. Lilly is the worst culprit! She knocks over the bin and rides through it. She also steals food from tables, peoples hands ect.
  18. RS better then something like RTQD.N ( Retrievibg Trial Qualified Dog Novice)
  19. It's Shirley Chong . Will you be at Eden Hill tonight? I am not sure. At this stage probably not. But I will be there on Thurs
  20. The new title is QND - qualified novice dog. It's for succsesfully completeing 5 novice trials (this means getting all 3 retrieves in each trial). Just to add to confusion the lowest Rally O title is RN. RS I am sure you and Maggie were talking about Patty Chong (?) or sonthing like that that taught obidience retrieves and Maggie said that's what she used and you said that's how you taught Ruby for obidience ( or am I inventing a conversation now )
  21. Not culturally but dogs can't just wander over/swim onto the island, every single dog has been a stowaway or introduced, thats why the range of type in the strays there amazed me! I almost brought that stray little pup home he had a couple of ticks on him and was sooooo skinny!
  22. Yes we did show on Sunday - she was a witch and standing wasn't in her vocab. Have now posted in the showing thread asking for help! Have you read this: http://www.dragonflyllama.com/%20DOGS/Writing/confstack.html I have no idea how I have been teaching stand, at the moment I have to hand my arm under Lincoln as he thinks the judge running thier arm down his back is a cue to sit.
  23. Kittens and chickens have totally different needs and wants - apples and orange, you can't compare. In this instance the person also has a neglected almost 3yo dog and a toddler who she got the kitten for as an early birthday present. She rang everyone in tears having to find a home for the chicken because she rents and couldn't take them but then turns around and adds another animal to the family who she may or may not be able to take when she has to change rentals again. (More of a personal vent and but not too dissimilar to the topic of the forum as a few months ago she was ringing around trying to find a home for the dog since she found a rental she liked that didn't allow pets)
  24. No problem! Showing is much more fun when you have someone else to do it with. Thanks for the obidience tips! Did you end up showing Cider on the Sunday?
  25. A few weeks ago Lincoln came into the house with a bloody foot and as I was cleaning it I noticed a cut below his nail. I thought it was healed but I have noticed that the nail seems larger and is hanging at a different angle then the others and he is slightly favouring the other foreleg as well. He is a bit senstive to me handling that foot and it looks as if it has been bleeding again. I am going to the vet for my older girl on Wednesday so I was thinking of booking him in too but I wanted to know if anyone else has had a dog that cut the nail bed and what the outcome was?
