  1. Amazing photos everyone! Just a quick catch up from me ... 11/52 Ahoy Captain Roky by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr 12/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  2. What an awesome bunch of photos everyone I'm way too far behind to comment on them all but I so love coming in here every week (or 2 as it's been this time). MnDM - sorry to hear of your loss. She must have been a pretty special person to inspire such a beautiful photo. MTD - great story telling shot. Hope you weren't too badly affected by any flooding. Redangel - beaut drawing, artistic talents obviously run through your whole family! Butternut - Storm is sooooo cute! Evolving - is that Kepala? Must get our two Knuckleheads down there again, they've changed so much from the bird/butterfly/bee obsessed timid dogs they used to be 9/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr 10/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  3. I love coming in here and seeing everyone's awesome photos every week. Finally found a bit of time to comment on some too ... Redangel - ahh huntsmans, how can something furry be so NOT cute?! Brave capture, were those front legs up as you took the photo? AnnieK - your shots of Oscar made me smile, what a gorgeous, happy boy and the beautiful colour of the sea makes a great backdrop for him too. MnDM - yikes, another spider! Interesting to see one from underneath. Do you know what it is ? Dogfan - love your insight into chook life, never had my own so it's really interesting to see what they get up to. Glad you reassured us that she's not dead though! Butternut - love the Sydney panorama, a real postcard shot and the flowers are beautiful, they look so delicate. Kirty - wow I didn't know we had geckos in Melbourne, will be looking out for them now - great capture! KumaAkita - what a gorgeous shot, love the light and the colours and, of course, the beautiful Mischa kja - another awesome shot with beautiful light, colours & pooch and I love how Tilly really is watching the sunrise. Gapvic - just gorgeous, lovely light, a very pretty shot MrRedDog - mmmm .... rhubarb crumble & custard ... ooops, must wipe drool off keyboard! I've been very slack this week and only taken a total of 3 photos - all of them boring! Have tried to jazz one up a bit in Lightroom, but boring is boring no matter what you do to it. Oh well, will try to lift my game for next week! 8/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  4. More awesome photos people! Some beautiful food, gorgeous puppies, amazing macros and very emotive selfies. Hope to have time to comment properly some time soon. Inspired by other DOLers who dress up their doggies, here's Kiki going for a bit of a "Calamity Jane" look (one day we'll work out how to keep her cowboy hat on her head too!) 7/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  5. Wow, loving this thread. So many awesome photos. Hope to have time to come back and comment soon, but just have to say so glad you're sticking with it Flaves and your last photo is a real corker - what a great capture! I kind of lost a good portion of my weekend (and I'll think you'll guess why from my week 6 offering) so running late with everything! 6/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr PS: Go Nikons!!!
  6. Dogfan - love the different perspective on the sunflower Redangel - OMG brilliant capture, can't believe they didn't crash! MTD - both frog shots are great, but the first does it for me, the way the lines lead your eye to "discover" the little critter Huga - Wow, amazing. Hope those monsters don't talk to you! Millie-Moo - Jack's gorgeous and he looks completely blissed out MrRedDog - cool. How did you do that? Gila - brilliant action selfie! PixieMeg - your daughter is so gentle with those chooks! Love all 3 photos. Evolving - yay, glad you've joined in. Alera's looking beautiful, love the dof in that shot and OMG such a tiny little pup! Snook - you're very good at conveying emotions in your selfies Been a busy week, so in a bit of a rush. We regularly meet this Min Pin down at the park, he can't see too well any more and his legs are shaky, but he still enjoys his walks and he's such a sweetie 5/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  7. Yikes, the month is nearly over. So many plans, so little time ... better just post what I've got so far! First, the obvious choice for "worship" : Worship 1 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr Totally distracted by the amazing workmanship on the cars at the hot rod show, I forgot to think about how much blokes love their cars - lucky I caught a "worshipper" in this shot! Worship 2 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  8. Butternut - thanks for the cemetery info and extra photo. Fascinating place. Gapvic & Snook - the wall in my 3/52 shot is at the back of the square beside the old Northcote Town Hall (now used for functions, events and performances) and the artwork on it is courtesy of Ray Thomas, a Melbourne based Gunnai nation (eastern Victoria) painter. Ray's art is also featured on the massive access ramp which I plan to go back and use for later 52 week shots - so more to come! Gila - good pose and great light Dogfan - mmmm love purple, very mystical looking dragon Dwynwen - love the concept! Snook - great photo bomb  Huga - beautiful as always. How did you both cope with starting school? K&A - MTD - yikes that is close up indeed! Dogsportobsessed - don't be uncomfortable, they're great photos Anniek - love the expression on Cody's face LMSW - you two look like you're on a mission from Dog! This one's from the hot rod show 4/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  9. Fabulous piccies again this week everyone. KumAkita - great abstract, like it Misteri - very pretty, wish they looked that good in my garden! LMS - very glamorous indeed! Dwynwen - love the contrasty sharpness in your flower shot MnDM - Czar's beautiful. Particularly like the lighting in the yawn shot Gapvic - stunning use of the light in Week 2, I'd never be able to figure it out without having a subject in the frame. And then you went and made it even better! anniek - go the surfing grey!! Butternut - fascinating cemetery, don't think I've seen another cemetery where all the gravestones are so uniform. Where is it? Getting away from the bubble/bauble/selfie-reflection thing this week - 3/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  10. Another great bunch of photos this week everyone CC - that is one of our dogs in the bauble shot, but I'm embarrassed to say I can't tell whether it's Roky or Kiki Pixie-Meg - the second shot in your week 2 post is my favourite, looks like they're cooking up some mischief together Snook - I'm definitely not brave enough to join in on the "selfies" action. Might try to work up to at least one proper one during the year though. Your 2/52 shot made me want to give you a hug, hope things stay on the up and up for you. MnDM - love the way you captured the reflection of the cage in the snow leopard's eye. Redangel - another lovely shot, beautiful colours too MrRedDog - yay for obscure self portraits! Week 2 for me - not a selfie but if you look really hard you'll see my reflection in one of the bubbles. 2/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  11. Fabulous photos everyone What a rip roaring start! CC I am in awe of your macros, they're always brilliant. Hats off to all you guys doing the selfies, you're all very brave and gorgeous! Snook, love that high key look. Redangel you look lovely. Somewhat inspired, when I spotted this bauble today I thought I'd get in on the act - but this is as close as I'll get to a proper selfie! 1/52 by Bookend Wrangler, on Flickr
  12. Beautiful capture, she looks like a real sweetie
  13. Yay for the return of monthly challenges - thanks Helen! Lovely shots so far guys. Would love to join in with the word "worship".
  14. I'd love to join in if I'm not too late. No theme - just appreciate the incentive to pick up the camera and try to improve over the year. Here's a link to Flickr set 52-2012 - not counting the photo used to create the set, 1st one for the year still to come! Really admire you brave folks doing self portraits and all of you who've already put up a shot! ETA: trying to get link to work!
  15. Hi Pointees Your girl is just gorgeous. Great photos, thanks for sharing. That's pretty good going for a guy in his 70s! Hope I'm that agile in my 70s .... actually wish I was that agile now! Looks like a great weekend. Roky & Kiki say hi Cheers Anna & Bruce
  16. Naawwww, love the puppies Merrirose and the flying whippy shot is brilliant, don't know how I missed that one yesterday!
  17. so is that a six pack of toilet rolls shoved down the front of his shirt?
  18. Yay, I'm glad this one's still going. Lovely shot Kirislin. Love all the horsey ones too ... and to continue the horsey theme, I was lucky enough to go watch some of the cross country on Sunday at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event at Werribee - great for practising panning!
  19. Thanks for the encouragement Kirislin. I'm glad Roky & Kiki don't move as fast as your whippets - you get some amazing shots of them! My OH might disagree but for me photos of cars, even if they are great panning shots, wouldn't be anywhere near as enjoyable to look at.
  20. Wow, really awesome photos everyone I've been practising and practising panning all month and haven't managed to get a single bit of focus in any of the shots I've taken! Oh well, it's been fun and I'll just keep practising - maybe next time this challenge comes around I'll have something more presentable but for now here's the pick from my efforts And a frozen motion from a little while back (before I became obsessed with panning!)
  21. Very sorry to hear about Texas CM. Thanks so much for sharing all those gorgeous pictures of your beautiful boy enjoying his happy life with you. Please take care of yourself and the rest of your beautiful pack.
