  1. I'm a Canon fan and have had a G10 which is great - it has most features of an SLR in manual mode (you can also put an additional lens on the front) and most SLR photography courses will let you take the G-series along to use and learn how to take SLR photos. I've now upgraded to a Canon 7D but still love my G10 for the size and fantastic photos...
  2. I love this shot! Pretty good pics from a camera phone
  3. Thanks everyone for your replies, I'll definitely try the milk option and putting the water in a metal container. Stormy, You could be right about no being dehydrated therefore she doesn't want to drink, I just thought she would be due to the excited frothing that seems to occur as well. (Think of Me in a dog park with a face washer wiping slobber as she runs past :p ) Becks, We did stop the playing especially yesterday when I got worried... we had to leave all the fun of playing with 2 other Frenchies and 1 Bonston behind to come home and rest. Thanks again, Sammie and Asti
  4. Thanks for you quick reply. Before we took her to the dog park today I swapped her bowls so that she drank all day out of the bowl I was going to take and I filled the water bottle up with the same tap water that she was drinking from... I suppose I can only try to perservere... Maybe I just need to find some dog cordial...
  5. This is the first 'topic' that I've created so I hope I do this correctly. I have a French Bulldog who refuses to drink water at the dog park or at the car before we come home. She gets really hot running around but I can't convince her to use the tap/bowl at the dog park or if I bring a water bottle and bowl with me she'll sniff it and walk away panting, yet all other dogs will drink from it. When we get home she'll drink for 5 minutes!!! Being a brachycephalic dog, I'm really worried that she'll get hot (especially in summer), dehydrated and really sick... Does anyone have any ideas how I can get her to drink water when we're out and about?
  6. Our Frenchie has had issues with her anal glands (she scoots around on the carpet every 3-4 weeks which made her temporarily feel better but give her a rash and sore around her wizza) - so were were off to the vets once a month to have them done. Since I switched her food to BARF she has really firm poos and has been fine for the last 8 weeks! Maybe you could try switching food? The BARF is expensive but Asti is so much more calmer, less itchy and her bum is better too!
  7. This is my first post into the phtography thread. I hope you don't mind but I am going to 'R'... as I was thinking of trying something different. R is for reflection and our retaining wall (the stacked besser bricks in the background). Please excuse the dirty window - they're so hard to clean when you two storys up!
  8. Hi FM! I got this lens with my 7D that I got last weekend - so whilst I'm only using the camera on 'auto' at the moment the lens does everything I need to to do and the guy at the shop said it would ge a 'great all rounder' for taking dog photos (as I said that's what I'd be doing and he laughed because most people buy new cameras when they have kids not dogs! ;) )
  9. When I was growing up I never thought that I'd have a dog because I was allergic to them. My best friend bought a Pug and he didn't make me swell up! So we went for a drive one day to play with some baby French Bulldogs and ended up bringing one home as I wasn't allergic to her either! I love it how her ears move when I call her yet she is stubborn and chooses to ignore me! I love it how she can snore louder than my husband in the middle of the night... I love it how she farts and runs away leaving the humans to sit and marinate in it! I love it how she can be so independant but still make sure you're watching from the otherside of the dog park. I love it how she has bucket loads of personality and makes me so proud to finally be a dog owner...
  10. Very coordinated... they have matching fluffy tails!!!
  11. So SMOOCHY!!!! Everybody loves a frenchie face!!! I wonder how I can get someone to do some pics of Asti (without paying an arm and a leg)?
  12. I've been watching these photo challenges for a couple of months and think I finally have a photo I can contribute. This was taken when my Frenchie Asti was trying to take on her best mate Baxter the pug in a Beach Boxing match... I really "caught" the action when I realised that Asti was off the ground!
  13. Uhm yes please need a Frenchie. More broken the better. Can you PM me with a email address? If Sparky and Callista can't make it, I might be able to make it with our Frenchie Asti I'll pm you!
  14. This is Asti and I, she's smiling as much as I am! (well my smile was a "hurry up she's getting heavy holding 11kgs with one arm" smile)
  15. We have an indoor dog toilet as we don't let our Frenchie outside while we're not at home. She has a big downstairs tiled area and once we got her trained to know to use it there was no turning back! If we have it out on the grass to wash it down, she wee on it instead of the real grass! They're a bit expensive initially but worth every cent (we did training pads for ages but they got really expensive)... We now have two grass mats so they can be interchanged. http://www.portabledogpotty.com/
  16. I read that Calendular tea (from a health food shop is about $8 for a big packet) and is good for dogs... I made it up like a normal up of tea and have been dabbing on our Frenchie and pouring it over her pours which she licks ALOT, it seems to stop her from itching and running her face/ears along the carpet.
  17. Our frenchie loves Milk Bottles or any bottle with a lid! They're hard to grip on to, so they slip out when she's trying to chew the lid off, then when she plays with the lid by flicking them up in the air so she can try to catch them again... I always remove the ring that is also around the top and when she was little I removed the lid after she'd finished playing so she didn't swallow it.... We have one of those Puphead indoor toilets - it has fake grass for Asti to use during the day (as we don't let her into the backyard when we're not at home, as we back onto bush land and don't want her getting ticks or stolen or hurting herself by jumping off the retaining wall! We placed it near the door and she uses it very well! Even if the grass is outside after we've washed it she would go over to pee on it instead of the real grass I recommend them if you don't want your pup outside when you're not at home. They're a bit expensive to start with but totally worth it, especially when its raining as its the pups alternative to going outside in the rain (as per other posts - not many dogs like getting wet when they have to go outside to wee).
  18. We used Vics and put it EVERYWHERE! and it made our house smell fresh and hygienic!
  19. Our Frenchie doesn't like going outside when its wet either... it gets easier as they get older. Asti went outside in the afternoon in the rain but wouldn't that evening... maybe because it was dark AND wet? The guy at puppy school told us that he had a client who had to go outside and wipe the grass with a towel and hold an umbrella over the dog before it would wee!
  20. thank you they do have Saturday classes The website is www.wagtails.com.au We took Asti to wagtails... they were good.
  21. FD26 I'm so happy for you... I was telling my husband about this last night and we were remembering the sleepless nights we had for 2 weeks with our Frenchie! Let's hope tonight is just as successful
  22. We have a similar potty pad by Puphead which is really expensive but has been well worth it. Our frenchie is inside when we're not home and she uses without any problems! I recommend them... I'm not sure however what you'd do if you had a boy dog.
