  1. I have found that pieces of ginger work well too... (I think they were non-crystallised ginger pieces). Also, a little off topic, this is going to sound strange but our puppy school talks about a common problem whereby dogs who are car sick are commony found to have their spine out of alignment (in paricular I think its called an 'atlas' which is the big bone around their head). This didn't mean much to me until I decided to take the advice of the breeder of our second dog and go to the dog chiropractor with both of them - turns out Asti has had a massive headache and spine out of alignment for pretty much her whole life and when she was little she used to get car sick - i just didn't know it was because of her spine I thought it was the playing at the dog park
  2. this place comes highly recommended by our Puppy School who send all their clients there... I attended a seminar where Rohan (the vet from Animal Options) spoke about his approach (normal vet stuff + chrio + acupuncture + herbal medicines + other holistic stuff) and I am seriously thinking about taking my two! you can claim on your pet insurance too!
  3. I'm starting to think these Shutter Sisters 'words' are too hard... maybe we could select something easier like 'numbers', 'alphabet', 'macro'?
  4. I put the stap on my right shoulder so the camera sits at my left hip or I swing it around to be at my lower back (which felt weird at first). I don't think it matters which shoulder you use :)
  5. I have a blackrapid camera strap (http://www.blackrapid.com/product/camera-strap/rs-4/) its great, it has clips that you can close around the bit that clips onto your camera so that it stays in one spot when you walk around (the lady in the shop showed me how she puts the clips so the camera sits flat against your back and doesn't bounce around.)
  6. I have a 6 MDH - it fits my 7D plus my 24-70 lens, external flash and another lens in the other side (usually my 50mm but will now be my 18-35... When I tested out the 5 MDH in the crumpler store it didn't hold enough for what I wanted, but take your camera in and try it out :)
  7. good job ktig! the photos don't have to be dog related at all....
  8. Looks like this month is going to be too hard! I have this one... A friends Frenchie Ella leaping to grab the bubbles!

  10. Great Job Misteri! They're all a little different, my favourite is the first one with the waiste measurement and choccies!!!!
  11. Hi! I know what its like to have people view a post and not reply. So here it goes... I'm not an expert but have recently attended a puppy school who encourage "time outs". Whilst I thought this was strange in the beginning (because our other puppy school taught us differently) separating the dog into a crate or other room for a while makes them realise that if they play up and behave the way you don't like they get isolated. The example is rough play with puppys. I however have tried this on my 3 yearold Frenchie who barks at the window and front gate. Everytime she really carries on I say "too bad" and take her into the bathroom and close the door, it took her 3 or 4 goes and now when I recall her she's pretty fast otherwise my recall word becomes a "too bad" and into the bathroom she goes. *putting on flame suit* We were spraying her with water after saying 'leave it', which worked temporarily but the time out really does well because it gives her time to calm down too - obviously now I give her the choice to come when called and get a treat or be isolated for a couple of minutes (for the puppy its for as long as it takes for him to be quiet or stop banging on the door). I initially thought this was not going to work but now when I say "too bad" even my puppy starts walking towards his crate like he knows what he's done! The trick with two dogs, is to have a different time out work for each... I was lazy so now our eldest thinks she's in trouble when its the puppy! and so they both stand there staring at me motionless incase they get to keep playing while the other is timed out!
  12. Loving the Chicken Bokeh!!! I meant to take some more photos of my coffee's I made on the weekend but drank them instead!!!
  13. Thanks Ozstar! If Lilly can push them room to room I'm sure baby Angus would too! He likes to push the boundaries where as Asti doesn't!
  14. I would love to see what these compost Bin's look like as I was in Bunnings on the weekend and walked through several areas where there was metal fencing and even dog houses being sold and nothing looked like a compost bin fenching that would be big enough to put a puppy to play in. I am thinking of getting some to split the tiled area in 1/2 so that my two don't get into too much mischief whilst we are out, but it'd be great to see a photo before I go to bunnings and start asking about them and not being able to describe them.
  15. Thanks for your reply - I'll investigate :) I'm sure most pest control companies work all over brisbane anyway...
  16. No Replies? I'll go back to hiding in the Frenchie Thread
  17. Hello, We have a lot of ants around at the moment and several spiders that I'd like to get rid of. I am thinking of getting a Pet Control company to come in and treat the house (since we haven't had it done since we moved in 5 years ago) and of course, I want it to be safe for the dogs. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any Pet Control companies that they've used in Brisbane (the southside). Thanks! SammieS
  18. Can anyone recommend good ones in/around Brisbane? I have heard of Animal Options at Ormeau and a guy south of Brisbane but I can't remember his name...
