  1. Dunlop Tyres (Australia) should at least put it on their website. Great advertisement for Dunlop. In the comments under the You Tube video, people have written it makes them want to buy their tyres! Maybe suggest it: http://www.dunloptyres.com.au/about-us/contact-us/
  2. Also on ebay. Location, Melbourne: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Greyhound-Dog-Bronze-Sculpture-Statue-Figurine-16-cm-6-4-Wide-/151055936644?pt=AU_Home_Decor&hash=item232ba2ac84&_uhb=1
  3. I've watched it over and over on the excuse of showing it to my little dog Annie. 'See what a little fat dog with short legs can do when he really, really tries.'
  4. Aphra, that profile is excellent. In the first few sentences you've laid to rest fears some people have about bully breeds. Jackson is well described as a very nice pet, but the considerations a new owner has to think about are included, too.
  5. WA's Wildlife Conservation Act specifically says (native) ducks are protected. http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/wa/consol_act/wca1950236/ And here's what Wildlife Officers employed by the WA government dpt which oversees that Conservation Act...do: http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/wa/consol_act/wca1950236/s20.html
  6. Legislation in WA.... if they're native ducks. Find the government dpt which oversees this legislation. Always helps to quote it. Also locals might consider going to the media. Western Australia The Wildlife Conservation Act 1950 provides for the conservation and protection of wildlife. The use, protection and management of certain public lands, waters, flora and fauna is dealt with by the Conservation and Land Management Act 1984. I don't know what the legislation actually says in WA, but maybe, RSPCA isn't referred to as having responsibilities for wildlife. In Q'ld law it is.
  7. I just saw the video of Rocket coming home on the Bull Breeds in Need Facebook page. I nearly ran out of tissues.
  8. Is your friend in Q'ld? If so there's a law which would apply.... with penalties. I'm assuming they're native ducks??? Hunting or killing birds In Queensland, all native animals including reptiles, amphibians, mammals, marsupials and birds are protected. They cannot be harmed or injured in any way, including trapping them, or stealing their eggs or disturbing their nests. Refer to the Queensland legislation, Nature Conservation Act 1992 (PDF, 913 KB). Or is your friend in WA? Maybe there's a similar law under a particular Gov Dpt? Your friend could also tip off the media.
  9. I think they're whippets Mita. Just going by their size next to the staffy... :) You're right, trina... they are whippets. :) Aren't they lovely, too! LG, I loved the push thro' to the water...' Look out, ladies.., coming thro'!' :) :)
  10. I've never seen it before. Just wonderful.... I think it's the best ad using a dog, too. So staffy.... with that tail wagging like mad on the starting line....& the big leap over the ribbon at the end (bet into the arms of an owner. :) ) Love the gorgeous shots of the racing greys, too.
  11. I haven't read all the thread.... but I wonder if corvus gave a link to a practical paper on doggie dementia that came from Sydney University? She gave it to me when I was asking on behalf of US tibbie people who were looking for information. They found it great.... as it referred to diet, supplements & medications. It was also great in sorting thro' what's the usual declines from ageing... & what is actual dementia. I'll see if I can find it again.... Good to see Mac being more comfortable at night, westie. FOUND! Go to the 'Discussion' section on the last page because it has a summary of the key behaviours and also a listing of what diet & supplements have best helped: http://rng.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/2010-The-canine-cognitive-dysfunction-rating-scale-CCDR.pdf
  12. You worded it fine. The implication is to target the advertising towards those familiar with the love of a bull breed & who are also responsible owners. And encourage sharing his details among that target group. So it was good to see Jackson's appealing face on the Bull Breeds in Need Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/bullbreedsinneed

  14. Stunning is the word. Everything crossed that Jackson's forever home soon comes up. He'd make any owner proud.
  15. That is delightful how the Finnish Lapphunds have their memory of living in snow.... so dig a snow burrow.... even when there's no snow. :)
  16. Kivi is the most gorgeous dork. Who couldn't love him.... he takes such pride in his 'work'. We had a Sheltie who behaved like Kivi. We were less charitable than you. We called her our much, much loved nutcase. :) Her long nose always bore clues to her latest criminal activity.
  17. I thought so, too. Evie's lovely. And she looks like she likes cuddles. Onya, dogmad, for offering to help.
  18. Cairn Terrier Club of NSW has a newsletter. I wonder if they'd mention Evie's need for a new home. http://cairnsnsw.com/
  19. I found your meaning clear here.... & agreed with you. Nawnim was replying to me - I misunderstood her post. No worries Nawnim :) Yes.... I was speaking to Nawnim's comment that she hadn't made herself clear. I found her meaning clear.
  20. I found your meaning clear here.... & agreed with you.
  21. It does go that way, you're right .... when the topic strays outside the actual incident & those publicly reported 'facts', to other aspects of the vet's personal & professional life.
  22. I guess, DD, me & Tommy could also swim across that big swimming pool, called the Pacific. :) Aaaaw! Got one wish. There's more pics of Nana Pom at her big weekend out: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nana-Pom/145922628926944
  23. I don't want to put a 'downer' on these nice people's wish to own a dog. But the sub-heading says 'allergy sufferer'. The trigger for allergies is not simply due to the dog's hair, but is associated with the 'dander' .... which is the flakes of dead skin. 'Dander' is shed, no matter if the fur is long or short. The concern about allergies needs to be looked at further ... there's good info here: http://www.webmd.com/allergies/guide/dog-allergies
  24. Yes, to this. And also have Social Breed Clubs as a wing of the Breed Clubs, so people who own purebreds as desexed pets can join in with public events that are very accessible to the general public. I once saw a large ad in the US Oprah magazine, from the American Kennel Club. They had designated a Purebred Pride Day. Groups of both show people & pet owners were to gather, with their p/b dogs, for 'show & tells', at parks and other venues across the country. I thought this was an excellent idea as it allowed the public to meet both the informed show people & the experienced pet people. Being a national event also upped the chances of getting publicity. If the word 'Pride' seems to have (not intended) overtones of elitism & contempt for non-purebred dogs .... then there could be alternative wording.
