  1. There's room here if you want :D (Wants Kyojin cuddles)
  2. Oh he's home now I've been following your posts about waiting to bring him home Aussies are such gorgeous dogs. more photos more more
  3. Esky used to be inside whenever we were out, since I was so paranoid about the front fence being shorter than the rest. I tried fencing off the area too, but, it wasn't easy to fence off so that plan failed too. Our new place has a totally secure backyard. Tall colourbond style fencing, it can only be accessed by coming through the house or by the garage door. Esky spends time when we aren't home out there now. She seems really happy. There is plenty of shade in the garage, a shaded patio and porch, and a decent sized grass area for zoomies
  4. I kinda like my husky but OH never wants one again. Our dream is to own an Icelandic Sheepdog But I would also love a Canaan Dog
  5. What area are you in. I would recommend my club, just depends how far south you are
  6. Esky gets attention from everyone. There doesn't seem to be an age bracket. People are either absolutely in love with her or mortified though She's an unusual specimen of the breed so we get a lot of comments and questions
  7. I can't say I know where training is headed. But from these responses i'm even happier with the club esky and I attend. The first 10 weeks were 'bronze' level. Pups and first timers to the club all had to complete it It was your basic, sit, stay, stand, drop, touch, hold and give, leave it and recall. Really well taught. Next level is silver, which we are in. The first 4 or so weeks that you are in silver, it's a bit of a newbies class. This is when the clickers are introduced and it takes a bit of time for the owners to get the hang of it. Then the silver people can all train together. We work on all kinds of things in class, stuff for people that just want a 'nice dog' and we're doing more and more obedience stuff too. Finding an article, heeling, retrieves, dropping on recall etc etc We are also starting to dabble in agility, jumps, a frame, weavers, tunnels and table so far. Even if we weren't keen to compete, there are still a lot of valuable skills there for pet owners On completion of this course you also receive a certificate that will discount registration for your pet. It seems a shame that more schools aren't like this
  8. Although there was that whole shenanigan with dutch shep x pups being sold in a pet store. I guess it's possible but I'm not familiar with the breed. Both your dogs are stunners!
  9. It was a few pages back so here's the link to the pet resume thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...6&hl=resume
  10. Check out the thread I started on pet resumes in general a few days ago. There were some really helpful hints and samples in there. The pet friendly rentals website also has a filter that you can apply to the rent searches on domain or realestate websites. Use that as a starting point I guess. Since getting these resumes done we've had 3 inspections with another 2 to come today. If our rental history comes up as good then it looks like we'll have our pick of 3 properties as long as the land lord approve too. But we've been getting really positive vibes from the agent. I think it helped to have present ourselves well at the inspections too, neat clothes etc.
  11. Just think of all the extra training and all the extra time you'd have to divide between two young pups. If you wait til your current pup is matured a bit, and knows the house rules, then I would think about adding another pup. Remember that your current pup will go through adolescence, and much like a teenager may shrug off your requests, ignore you and test your boundaries. I would wait until that storm has passed at the very least ;)
  12. Welcome :D Aren't your dogs gorgeous. I'm quite partial to the aussies
  13. Inside we have a DOG IT 10litre water fountain. We couldn't hack the water all over the floor and it was a good solution. Diggers can still dig / splash in the top reservoir, so we solved that by putting a plastic bowl on top. The animals can still access the water that cascades down the side. Outside we have a bucket. Although she can splash in it, she's never tipped it over, so there is always water available
  14. I'd say that would depend on a lot of things I would happily pay more for a dog from imported lines
  15. It is with great sadness that I just leaned of the passing of my childhood dog Towser. It was not the ever growing tumour on his side that took his life but a fatal snake bite. Unfortunately Towser was not able to join me when I left home, as he could not be separated from his brother (my parents dog) He has continued to live with my parents in a beautiful sunny coastal NSW home. My parents were not concerned with his snake hunting terrier ways and always allowed him to continue. I was glad to hear he spent today doing what he loved though, running on the beach. Towser you were my first companion and now that I know more about dogs, how I wish you could have had a better life. I never understood how to train you and was taught to use force. I'm sorry Despite this you were a great dog, no aggression, only love. You pulled like a steam train on the leash, had no recall and didn't know the word sit. I wouldn't trade you for the most trained dog in the world Run free sweet Towser, you deserved better. 980141_1239710366 by 9114, on Flickr towsers first day by 9114, on Flickr :D
  16. Absolutely beautiful! So kind of you to track them down and share it :D
  17. What did you write for this one ? Special things that should be brought to the property manager's attention ?
  18. Esky's breeder was good and professional. Looking at lappie breeders now and all of them have been fan-bloody-tastic which makes the decision on which kennel to go with all the more impossible
  19. Good idea to put the neighbour down. Thanks I was also going to ask our instructor at dog school if I could use her as a reference.
  20. Long story short we are in the market for a rental house (yes, again ) I've seen pet resumes mentioned before on DOL, but I really have no idea what I'm doing there. Is anyone able to show me a resume they used for their pet? What kind of things do you include? What feedback if any, did you receive from the agents / landlord?
