What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Your Dog's Been Called?
Esky the husky replied to ~Rumour~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
I haven't had anything too bad. Just a malamute, or a samoyed or a mal x sammie Since Esky is big enough to be a pure bred Malamute and almost fluffy enough to be a samoyed I usually just explain that she's a purebred husky, but she's also one of a kind! Most people haven't seen a red husky though. -
I this dog so much HUGE congrats!

Congrats, and good on you for taking in a dog in need of a good home. Your aussies have such a great life. I'm sure the love you get from her will repay you tenfold for your kindness to her.

What's Wrong About Giving Dogs Human Names?
Esky the husky replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I usually get the same reaction when I tell people my cat's called Steve. And some people just think it's hilarious. One guy in particular used to ask me several times a week, "What's your cat's name again?", just so he could roll around laughing when I answered, "Steve". I get that reaction too. Might have something to do with the fact my cat's name is Corpsegrinder -
Her and Akira pretty much snubbed each other for whatever reason :D Did you guys have the clam shell at the last meet? It was a hit at the Christmas one.

Mrs Rusty Bucket I was talking specifically about Esky's behaviour not anyone elses and owning up to my own screw ups regarding the meets. Her play style is a bit too full on for most of the dogs, and there have been times as an owner where I should not have let it continue as long as I did. I would love to meet someone with a dog with similar play styles and energy for her to have a play with, but we're also working on getting her to play calmly. If we do come to more meets I think I'll keep her leashed until she can be calm and friendly with everyone

50 ETA: I don't think I'll be bringing Esky again (after reading that other thread) and feel awful about our dog park manners to this point. ( I had never even BEEN to a dog park before DOL meets ) I'd be up for some beach meets or something like that though.

Hey guys before you get in trouble i suggest you remove those links to the pups. It's against the rules of this forum to post them.

Can A Male Dog Wear Purple Collars?
Esky the husky replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree guys, this thread was meant to be tongue in cheek. My old girl's colour was purple and she still got called a boy!! Just go with whatever colour suits your dog be it green, pink or blue -
Best of luck to you!

I don't know. But I once saw a GSD in the back of one of those utes, with the lid for the tray. The poor dog had the lid fall down on him at 50km/hr

If you're not comfortable feeding raw to a growing pup, you can always feed the same kibble as the breeder until the pup is physically mature.

Size Of Puppy Vs Size Of Dog
Esky the husky replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
My girl turned out very big for her breed, well over the perscribed height in the breed standard. It was a bit of a curveball for us since I'd bought a crate etc for her expected adult size. She had grown out of it by 6 months ;) -

Relationship Between Dog Size, Yard Size And Exercise?
Esky the husky replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mine's a husky (but the size of a Mallie :D So I think she's verging on 'large' The yard is Huuuge, especially for the rent we pay. In fact the yard is so big that the block is being subdivided in half So soon we'll only have half a yard :p I do something with Esky every daY. Sometimes other dogs come over to play, sometimes we walk or bike with her and at the moment we're just getting her used to her racing harness in the yard. It's too hot at the moment for anything strenuous though! Having said that she spends her days inside because I feel safer that way ;) -
I'm a similar age to you. Just make sure you think beyond the dog to your living situation, and how it may change over the coming years. It's hard enough for someone young to find a rental (if this is what you plan to do) I couldn't live without a dog but it does come with compromise! My sister in law had similar ideas (protection etc) when she chose out her breed. She ended up settling on a boxer. Might be a breed for you to look into
