  1. BTW the page has almost 140 likes, with those supporting the cause please help me get it over 250 this week, you need to share it and invite friends to like it.
  2. To clarify - I didnt just go on holidays and observed this, I lived in Europe for half of my life. I understand that people might not want a dog in a supermarket, but what about a corner store, when you just duck out from home to get milk? I recall my previous shop owner allowing me to walk in with a dog. I now moved and pretty much drive everywhere. I would love to be able to take my dog/dogs on public transport and go to the city sometimes. I live far and driving is very expensive, plus no parking. I could catch a train on a Sunday and walk around Darling Harbour or Hyde Park or go to Manly, but that is not possible with the dog. I'm not talking about letting dogs run wild everywhere, I think a well behaved dog on leash and sometimes muzzled (lets say on public transport) is no issue. What about some old person that can no longer drive and cant walk to the vet? They cant even take a dog to the vet on a bus or train, as they are not allowed. They have to rely on family or neighbours, as most taxis wont take a pet either. Could be a life or death situation for someones beloved pet. Few years ago I went with my extremely well behaved dobermann to Darling Harbour., I was with a group of friends Wanted to stop for a drink in an OUTDOOR cafe/bar and was not allowed. I said Ill stay outside with the dog as there was a bench right near the flower pots making a boundary of the cafe, but they wouldn't allow me to have a drink there. Pretty damn sad situation....... Yes I could have left the dog at home, but why should I? He was the only dog at the time, I worked full time and he was alone 5 days a week. I wanted to enjoy an outing with friends and with the dog, but no, not possible. I never wanted to go inside the building, just sit at a corner table (that was free) with the dog under the table.
  3. Did you go to my page on Facebook Willem? if not then please have a look, I have included photos taken in the last 5 weeks in Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria. Dogs everywhere - parks, shops, restaurants, tourist attractions. There were dogs even on ski lifts! I have seen a woman with a great dane in Galerie La Fayette (!!!) in Paris. She was with a friend that had a toy poodle. Not one dog was misbehaving, not one dog was pulling on lead and not one dog paid any attention to me or anyone else.
  4. In my opinion most Aussie dogs are ferral because they are NOT taken anywhere, not socialised enough, and that is because they arent allowed in many places. Walking on the streets is pretty boring for a person and a dog and doesn't teach them much. Being in a variety of situation makes them more resilient and more ignoring of the surroundings. An average dog hardly ever leaves the yard, no wonder it pulls on lead, jumps on people and barks at everything it sees.
  5. Hi I have started a campaign on Facebook to allow dogs in more public places link - https://www.facebook...560967940729092 In case link doesnt work - Page name is Campaign to allow dogs in more public places please like the page and invite your friends and see what we can do. It's a start....
  6. Vets all Natural make great liver treats - http://www.vetsallnatural.com.au/health-chew-training-treat/ I also use dried up lamb lungs, cheese, frankfurts, cut up dog roll (Scottys)
  7. Rayhay - thank you for your kind words. I was there on holidays so no chance of going back to the beach and looking for the dog again. I might send an sms to the man and ask if he wants to part with the dog, but he could see I was not impressed with the situation so my chances are very slim in getting anywhere, I feel he is likely to just tell me to piss off.
  8. I haven't asked him about a bad recall (again you are assuming something), the dog had a good recall, when I called him at the beach, he came back straight away. And I have asked him about the dog getting out, his fencing etc on the phone, before we actually met. But when the dog came out of the car and cowered in the presence of the owner, then dropped to the ground and acted extremely scared I said - why is he like that? Owner said - because he knows he is in trouble. How would the dog "know" he is in trouble when his owner just appeared and just stood there? Took one step towards the dog. and a second before called him with a happy voice? The dog was afraid of the owner, full stop. Not of a situation, not of a voice, not of anything that the owner displayed at the time. I think that maybe you aren't familiar with a difference in the dogs body language of submission and fear. I am. OH, I forgot, not a thank you for calling and returning the dog from the owner either!
  9. I'm guessing that Willem wishes I had run to my car straight away to get the phone to call the owner. Say nothing, do nothing, just return the dog immediately and mind my own business. That might be legally correct thing to do, but not morally. That's just my opinion. In fact what I should have done is called a ranger to catch the dog and take it to the pound, but I'm a compassionate person and did what I thought was right by the dog. I don't really need to explain myself and justify my actions. I believe the dog was mistreated by it's owner. I'm allowed to do that.
  10. And you know that this dog was raised by that owner, right? From puppy, it had no other home prior. And that owner only stuffed up the recall, you know that too.... Its not a problem to you that the guys say - he is trouble, when the dog did nothing wrong. That passive aggressive tone of voice towards me when he said "its my dog and he is in trouble"... that is not an issue for some people.. And the fact that the dog didn't want to get out of the car at the smell of the owner near by, nor at the sight, nor at the recall is perfectly fine with you. I guess this is why so many abuse cases go unnoticed in the society. Would you react the same way if I was talking about a 2-3 year old child and, lets say, a father?
  11. I asked for advice about what to do about the dog not what to put on the internet. But thanks :)
  12. Geezus.........you've got nothing better to do then pick on an expression? I call it a day,. the rest of the day I did nothing so I call my 2 hours at the beach (partially with the dog around) a day. How about you contribute to the question Ive asked, and if you don't want to, just leave.
  13. I'm wondering what is your issue with what I have done, seems like you think Ive done something wrong!! I probably have done way more then most people would have in that situation, in fact the beach practically only has dog walkers on it and noone bothered to look at the tag and ring the owner. Dog came to me soaking wet, covered in sand and thirsty (I gave him my water). When I rang the owner he wasn't even surprised that the dog is out, he was trying to postpone the time of pick up, and I told him I'm leaving and need to go and to come straight away. It was Sunday and during school holidays and he was busy "in town" I didn't TAKE a dog for a walk, he followed me. I was there on holidays, I had no leash and I was there with other people. And I didn't spend the whole day there it might have been an hour to hour and a half max (see how you also assumed stuff?) Plus I feel like I have done the right thing, I rang the owners, drove a filthy sand and salt water covered dog to give him back. I now wish I have found a pound and dropped him off there, at least the owner would have had to pay a penalty to get him back!! I have since googled the ph number, found out a bit about the owner (google is my friend) and the dog is very local to where I was, hence he was so familiar with the beach. And clearly not in a hurry to be going back home. As the owner said - he got out AGAIN. he told me that the dog is locked up in a pen and gets out, and that the kids must have left the front door open again. That to me looks like a poor management and should be improved. I came here to ask for advice what to do not for a lecture from someone that thinks I've done wrong. If you have no answer nor advice to my original question I kindly ask you to leave the thread.
  14. Just to clarify... I didn't have a phone on me at the beach hence I didn't make a call straight away. Dog didn't behave like he was lost, he behaved as if he knew the area very well, hence the assumption that the owner was near by or he lived near by. There were people at the beach, with dogs and the beach is very long, many dogs get away from the owners for quite big distances. I wasn't going to just leave the dog there, if he didn't have a name tag I'd take him to the nearest vet to get scanned for a chip. The dogs behaviour has changed drastically at the sight of the owner! DRASTICALLY!! The dog wouldn't get out of the car when the owner was calling him! And he was using a pleasant voice to call him! The dog wouldn't move towards the owner, the dog dropped to the ground scared and didn't move the moment the owner took ONE STEP towards him. The dog was closing the eyes and moving the head away when the owner moved to pick him up. It was not a happy submissive behaviour, it was scared shittless behaviour. There was not a slightest tail wag at any stage, the tail dissapeared, the body changed, the look in his eyes changed. As I said before - I have never seen a dog behave that way at the sight of the owner! A dig at me or my dogs as to how they wouldn't or wouldn't behave when lost was unnecessary, but since it was brought up I can guarantee you that my dogs would happy rush towards me when I called them! And they wouldn't be plastering themselves to the ground paralysed unable to move, turning heads away when I approach them!!
  15. I doubt RSPCA will do anything. dog looked healthy and Id imagine it would have water and shelter at home. I know that legally there isn't anything I can do... I'm like a toothless tiger and just devastated.
  16. I went away for few days to "town name withheld". One day at the beach a dog came wondering. I looked for the owner but couldn't see anyone near by (lots of people far away, its a leash free beach) he was an oldder dog, grey around a muzzle and teeth were pretty worn down and old. But in a good shape. He didn't look lost, distressed or wanting to go anywhere other then stay with me. He brought me a stick to throw, so I did. Then I went for a walk, he came with me, I threw the stick for him, we played and he was happy. If he lost the stick he run and found another one. We had a great day. He had a collar with a tag so I rang the number, expecting that its some person that lets the dog out to wonder and to tell them that it would be a shame if he got run over by the car on the way to the beach or was attacked by another dog and injured. The guy that answered the phone wasnt surprised that I have the dog and we arranged where to meet. So I took the dog in the car, to which he jumped in very willingly and happy and drove a minute away to the surf club car park. Windows down, hot day, dog happy sitting on the floor behind the drivers seat. As I arrived another car arrived and I guessed that this is the owner. Dog wedged himself on the floor and when I opened the door he wouldn't come out. I thought thats because its hot and we were in the shade. The owner called a dog with a happy voice and he reluctantly came out and wouldn't move further. Owner went forward and the dog collapsed to the ground, crouching, tail down, totally petrified. In the mean time Ive asked how come he is out and the owner said that the kids must have left the gate open again. I picked up on the "again" and said that it might be an idea to keep him contained better. The guy said dog is in a pen but gets out, so I said - you could improve your fencing. All nice but inside I was boiling. So the owner goes towards the dog and the dog is just so scared, I said - why is he like that???? The guys says - because he knows he is in trouble. I said - he is not in trouble, he's done nothing wrong (thinking that the kids should be in trouble, but not saying a word) The guy picked the dog up threw him at the back of the ute (fancy with a name of the business), dog not tied up, so he closed the cover (super hot day) and said - he is my dog and he is in trouble! and he left I was speechless, angry, wanted to scream and hit him and just did nothing, basically unable to move and do anything. I have never seen a dog acting so scared of the owner when he did nothing, and its very clear that he gets belted badly. I so failed that dog, I wanted to do the right thing and return a lost dog to it'w owner. If only I knew...... Id probably commit a crime and steal him, but now it's to late So very sorry lovely dog, I'd give you a home, you were just perfect and your human is a type of a person that I call human trash and doesn't deserve anything as beautiful as your soul. If anyone has any ideas as what to do I'm all ears. I have the persons phone number and I know the business name. and of course the name of the dog. Just so so sad and cant stop thinking about it.
  17. I can see them breeding few litters now with tails and ears to cover their costs. Slap on the wrist, thats all that is. I grew up in a country with cropped and docked dogs and we never had issues, vets did. Here being illegal it only asks for dramas and butchering in back sheds by inexperienced idiots.
  18. I feed very little dreid food and buy a large 20 kg bag that lasts me for ever I used to store it in buckets from bunnings, like those that you buy paint in. But I found a perfect thing at Costco, it very big and easly would fit 25 kg of food. and its air tight I found it on amazon, but costco definitelly has it http://www.amazon.com/Vittles-Vault-STACKable-40-Stackable/dp/B0002H3S5K
  19. Wouldn't you be asking your parents about the price difference and if its acceptable? Seeing that they would know that a difference between main and limited registration is less then $40 If you are close to a registered breeder of any dog breed Im sure they'd be able to direct you and provide you with advice what is acceptable or not. I would be surprised if they put their stamp of approval for a purchase of an unpapered puppy...
  20. I feed quail, my dogs like it. One isn't keen on it, but will still eat it. That is quail frames. Mince she will eat, as I usually mix it with some offal and Vets All natural and eggs. The other two think quail is fantastic. Unfortunately the price for it just went up, its still not that expensive, but 2-3 times the price of chicken
