So you did 6-8 minutes of riding and you had enough? ;) You need to train a lot than, YOU not the dogs. And try on grass no on the road, as its harder to ride on grass.

One of the most nervous dogs I had recently seen was a woking DDR lines GSD.

hey jbbb I remember Flame had a release comand - its part of TOT, and what happened to food spitting? I thought you did bits of focus work before. I hope you can show me some new focus tricks, Ive been doing fair bit of it recently, its great fun and Divani knows the word watch very well now. Oh I wish I did this course with you...... just couldnt.......

Nowhere around Rockdate/Hurstville I can find turkey necks in supermarktes and I have asked. But thanks to DOL I new have a pet shop supplier in Roselands that stocks them for $3.5/kg :p
-
I wish I could have done it with you jbbb.
-
Id go for turkey necks as theya re a bit more difficult to eat for a dally than chicken carcasses. But I cant find a supplier anywhere near me and I did try. If you find a good supplier juice let me know. My dogs eat a lot of chicken (frames, wings, necks and their theeth are nice and clean) You could try pork spine bones as well, Id stay away from weight bearing bones. Any chinese butcher will have pork soup bones, they are about $2-$3 a kg. If you are going to feed carcassses Id say 3 carcasses would be a mean for a dally.

Sounds easy, I wonder why wouldnt people use it. Any idea? How does it apply to off lead work? And what happends if the handler makes the mistake and the dog gets the sleave?
-
I menat whoevers methods. So what are you saying is. The dog has been tought with whatever methods and has an extra special value for the sleeve and its the most treasued thhing in it life and doenst want to release it. You are saying that with no corrections you will "convince" this dog that the sleave isnt the best thing in its life. Im interested to hear how.
-
Im not sure if you are talking about what you have seen in the video or if you had seen stuff elswhere, but if you are talkinga bout the video you are correct he uses corrections on other peoples dogs. He also explains that these dogs have been tought wrongly (not with his methods) and in order to change their behaviours he needs to correct them. So basically if the dog was touch in his method from the start ( his dog as an example) there would be no need to have those corrections. Are you able to confirm for me if you are talkking about what you have seen in the video or about somethign else?
-
I think I would have seen the same videos, and I had seen him use corrections there. Now what someone considers average, someone else considers this cruelty.
-
or better still - expect the dog to fail. So LL how do you get one of those miniture dog trainers to sit on your shoulders when you train?

Training A Dog Aggressive Dog
MonElite replied to 4 Paws's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have been told that it can not be fully cured, as even if the dog is trained well enough and "forgets" the past in the shit happens situation will always revert back to the defencive instincts. Basically dogs dont forget what they have experienced but it can be masked over quite effectivelly. Im glad tho that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for some, thanks Erny. -
I found that no matter how many great videos I had seen, how many great (and not so great) trainers I observed, and no matter how many books I have read there was no better training than a trainer telling me exactly what to do and how to do it. I had a trainer that was great in providing theoretical info but I preffer someone that will show me how to hold the toy, will correct my body posture etc Watching others in my case didnt work. I often compare this to the fact that my OH is a fan of Motorbike racing. I must have seen hundereds of great races, but that didnt teach me how to ride a bike.

Is this fully possible? -
I recently aquired them, and watched them once so far and will watch them several times. I really liked them and found lots of info in them, very usefull, especailly info on what not to do. Still cant get over the way he jumps around, tho

Fdiddy I wonder why Divani didnt get it?, after all she is on BARF as well BARF or any form of natural feeding IMHO surly contributes to the dogs wellbeing however if you get a sick or genetically prone to some desease dog you can only hope for the best regardless of what diet you feed.

MonElite replied to whatevah's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I too feel guilty when I take one of the dogs out. They both get to be taken out separatelly, but I take the girl out more and always think that I would have taken Rex with me in the past on those occasions so he misses out. -

I have adopted the word nautralisation from this site and your programs K9 and it seems to be understood by others on this forum. I dont think Im the only one tho, if your post was aimed at me. tonymc Lablover Erny As to answering who are the other people - Id say Jeff Jones is another person that uses the separation of dogs as part of his programs. I guess Jeff calls it something else (what do you call it Jeff?) Im happy to adapt a differnet name if you clinging to yours K9. -
Keep New Pup Together With Other Dogs Or Apart?
MonElite replied to whatevah's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I could be wrong and stand corrected but the from what I understand some people have a dog in a pen all the time and it only comes out for training, socialisation/neutralisation excercises and some bonding with the owner. So it learns that all satisfaction comes from the owner. This is the bit that the other side is against. -

I agree with you and both of my dogs are able to cope with being alone. However in some of the neutralisation programs the young dog is separated from the pack (other dogs) but able to see the rest of the pack, this is no viewed upon favourably by those against the program.
