  1. That's so cute, I loved the Staffy's ears as he ran and the smile on his face .
  2. My breeder also breeds Schipperke's they are great little dogs.I'd never heard of one until I enquired about Brennan. There is a thread in the Breed sub forum for Schipperke's so make sure you go compare notes and photo's
  3. Huskies4Life why not direct your neighbour to GSD rescue? or maybe an older dog for sale. Many breeders have older dogs that they may sell from time to time. I have included a link to the German Shepherd Club of Queensland's Breed rescue person. Maybe your neighbour could give this person a call http://www.gsdcqld.org.au/German%20Shepherd%20Dog%20Rescue%20service.htm
  4. This. I love my time walking with my dog. We use it to train, play, enjoy each others company and to let her explore the world. We have a park area with a creek across the road which we go walking along and she loves it. I stop from time to time to let her sniff, roll in the grass. The look of pure joy on her face just makes me smile . I also love to find a bit of nature, sit with her and have a think/fuss.
  5. I also have a naked dog. But then I am not often out for long and crate her when I am out. I read a story of a dog hanging itself when it was left unsupervised (freaked out over a storm).
  6. Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knew where to look to replace a crate tray for a wire crate. I noticed this afternoon that Brennan's crate tray is starting to break. I looked on Ebay but only found one in the USA which was the wrong size.
  7. Can we just lock him back up in the Big Brother house....for good
  8. Just had a read of some of his training articles and they were.....interesting http://www.farmerdave.com.au/dog-training/dog-information/training-tips/569-dogs-that-like-to-pull.html
  9. Me finks farmer Dave needs to find a wife that knows how to use spell check I gave up looking If I remember correctly, Farmer Dave is the guy who 'came out' whilst on Big Brother, so he would probably prefer a Husband ;) . As for the crud he says-- well, I looked at his ''achievements'' on his Facebook page. Sorry, but I am not going to be taking behavioural advice from some one who feels winning 'Friday Night Live' on Big Brother is an important award ;). Although nice to see the DOLers informing him of his mistakes on FB
  10. Currently have one female German Shepherd 2 and a half years. First dog was a GSD cross. There is no other breed for me. Born a GSD girl and will be a GSD girl until the day I die
  11. OMG, Sending healing vibes Earls way and a hug to you
  12. Doesn't happen to me ( but I am single), although I do get a lot of ''You need a German Shepherd in this area/ for security'' type comments-- uh have you seen my dog? she thinks everyone is her BFF
  13. Lol, I've seen that episode-- I like it
  14. I don't think it is worth the time and energy spent to respond. This guy comes across as a 'know it all' type, his mind is clearly set. All you are doing is wasting time trying to convince some one whose mind is made up. Better to save the energy for some one who is interested and willing to listen to what you have to share . OR You could direct him to DOL and let him see how far he gets on here
  15. My friend lives in Wichita, Kansas and they do the same there. They call it ''Dog Days Of Summer''. I don't know about other events, but at the Wichita one my friend goes to they drain out the normal pool water and re-fill it with non-chlorinated before letting the dogs in. The event raises money for the Humane Society. Ironic thing is, my friend, has not only got her own (unused) swimming pool, but she also has a nice dam on her property for her dogs Another link
  16. Thanks for sharing, growing up I used to hear stories about Rin Tin Tin from my Mum who watched the series. I could think of nothing better then a series where the leading character was a German Shepherd Would be interested to read that book. ETA- Hope you don't mind, I shared this link with the GSD thread
  17. An American friend linked me to this article written by a former FB friend- Drayton Michaels- a 'Pro Pit Bull' advocate who does a lot of work in USA to change the perception of Pit Bulls. Link I've also included some links to Facebook pages- I don't know if they will help, but thought some DOLers may be interested in having a read. The Pit Bull Placebo- Facebook
  18. I have a fear reactive dog and have made great progress since seeing Jane Harper whilst in Brisbane. Website
  19. I like; Great Escape Gone in Sixty Seconds Gone AWOL Gone Baby Gone
  20. Funny how you seem to have an issue with Steve making an assessment through emails and yet you are not shy in making an assessment based on what Skye decides to share on an internet forum. Perhaps rather then using this thread as yet another way to criticize Steve, you could actually try emailing him and asking him how his methods work. I find it sad that a genuine thread by the OP wanting to seek advice/ information has become yet another place where you try and discredit Steve. Jealousy is a curse.
  21. Hi GoldenGirl85 - the program is tailored to each dog's personality/behaviour and does require you to complete a questionnaire specifically designed to give Steve this feedback so the program I have for Skye would not neccessarily fit others. It is all about learning the triggers for your dog's behaviour and practising within their comfort zone before taking it "on the road". Skye was neither food nor toy driven in a reactive state so consequently I had a dog that I could not take in to a training class let alone walk past other dogs on the street without a reaction - she had no ears and her only purpose in life was to either play (as a puppy) or aggressively react to other dogs in the near vicinity. Skye is also not fear/aggressive so consequently it has all been about embracing the drive she has and finding her passion which is a tug toy. Due to the training I have done with Steve's guidance (we live in WA so all our communication is by email) Skye is now seeing me as more valuable than other dogs and she is coming along in leaps and bounds. I honestly cannot praise this program enough - Skye is my 5th GSD and my most challenging so even with the experience I have had with my previous dogs, I was at a loss as to how and make it work for Skye and me. Thankfully we have found the answers. Is very good you is having improvment, but you saying is better for the email training that hire trainer in person yes? Surely I thinking must be trainer in WA to help on this problem? Joe I don't see anywhere where Skye has said that it is better to hire an 'email trainer' then some one closer. I am certain she looked at her options before deciding that K9 Pro was the right choice for her. Although Steve does seem to have a lot of successful clients who have done his DLPs so he must be doing something right in his email communications ;)
