I love supporting the salvos - they do an amazing job. I've picked up some fantastic giant teddys and dogs lately for my little pug who likes to sleep ontop of them like a security blankie kind of thing. When she sucks on their ears and they get too grubby or the terriers get a hold and shred them I just chuck them out. $3 a pop so no biggy. I could be wasting that money on useless crap like McDonalds so it doesnt worry me to buy her toys from somewhere like the Salvos that help people. Aww that's so cute your Pug sleeping on the toy. My dog still has a $2 (human) baby toy Elephant which is her comfort toy and she snuggles with it.

I think I'll pop down to the local salvos this morning and see how much useless crap I can buy for my dogs and while I'm there, I'll see how much useless crap I can buy for our sponsored children OS LOVE the Salvo's for dog toys-- you can get some decent fluffy toys in their $3-4 bags they sell.

Agreed. I donate at various times throughout the year, both financially and a range of goods. I don't think spending money to make my own girl happy is 'useless'. Edited to fix spelling

I should point out that in my family it is only myself and my Mum so we do like to buy for the dogs. I usually get a little present for her Maltese x ''from Brennan''

Brennan is getting 3 balls for fetch, a squeaky ball, a liver stick treat, a schmacko's chew, and a star shaped plush squeaky toy. Of course I will probably pick her up another something closer to the date-- I can't resist spoiling her

I'd not let the housemate near the dog again. Tell him that you don't want him to have any contact with the dog and keep the dog out of his way.

Well I did my Christmas photo's on Saturday with my Canon Ixus. Needless to say Brennan was not impressed. Serious German Shepherd is not amused Call the RSPCA, surely this is classed as 'abuse' If looks could kill......

Well, I have a German Sheppad/ German Shepard instead of a German Shepherd. Failing that it's perfectly acceptable to just call German Shepherds ''Police Dogs'' ;).

My Mum is/ was against it. She is still against it when it comes to her own dog, but she's fine with it for my dog now. I think the best thing is to show a happy dog in their crate. At the moment my own dog who was crated for a while whilst I was out, is lying in her crate on her bedding, with the door open. You think she'd want to spend her time out of the crate, but nope- she's curled up in her 'den'.

Does anyone know if these will be regular meets? I am hoping to get a car in January and I think Brennan would love to try it out. Especially if it is in an enclosed environment.

I've just cross posted this thread on the DOL FB pages. The other option is to put an advert on places like Gumtree classifieds stating what you are looking for. Sometimes you find people who have a private rental and aren't going through the real estate agencies.

I have sent a message to a friend ( and fellow DOLer) in Victoria who may have some more ideas of suitable areas ( as per your requirements). I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and you know if there is anything at all I can do to just ask.

I was looking through the Garage sale facebook page last night when I stumbled upon this: My link Just makes me sad . I hope that if they find this dog a home it is to some one who will be responsible enough to desex this girl and to seek help for the behavioural issues.
