  1. I've got say, after reading a document sent to me recently, I agree with everything blackdog has said above. Early age desexing has a lot of negatives.
  2. It is not likely that she picked it up at the DOL meet as the time frame is too long. Incubation is anywhere from 3 - 10 days. If she is C3 vaccinated then she is not vaccinated against parainfluenza or bordetella.
  3. Determine, if possible, the source of the allergen and then minimise risk of exposure or undergo desensitisation injections.
  4. Dogs with KC cough all the time regardless of activity. They may also become depressed and go off their food. If it is KC, then a simple child's cough suppressant will help alleviate the cough. Rest and plenty of fluids is also warranted. Incidently, I have never had a Vet prescribe antibiotics for KC.
  5. There are also many heart related conditions where a cough is a symptom. Best to have it Vet checked.
  6. The Daily Telegraph website under "Breaking News" . APologies for my slackness, I should have provided a reference. See this link; Breaking News
  7. It could be them going by this; It looks like it is a defnite puppy farm.
  8. That mob also sell kittens....................
  9. Why would a two hour drive stress her? Look at the risks of not having her looked at. I would be making the 2 hour drive to see a specialist. Whilst stress isn;t good for her, if the drive to see a specialist can save her, why wouldn't you do it. Ensure you have somewhere to stay in case she needs to stay in hospital....and make sure you have a clear credit card.
  10. Any surgery carries risks and I am sure your Vets will do everything they can to mitigate those risks. I'd speak more with your Vet about her illness and the surgery. Let them know you are frightened. Have you ever taken her to a specialist veterinary hospital?
  11. Truthfully, I donlt think anyone can adequately judge anything from a media clip. The dogs did appear to look well fed though.
  12. The chicken treats info adds a different perspective. There were a few vets that were looking into the health issues after this. I think one was at Sydney Uni?? What state are you in?? If you search, you should be able to find info on here about it.
  13. Maybe it is time for the exploratory surgery.
  14. Bio Security??? What have I missed? Were are you seeing the pics Steve? I only see text? Ignore me, I see there is a second link to a video.
  15. Woohoo. Great news. Hopefully we can stop these people from trying again with another dog.

    Pug

You'll notice a Pugs hair even if you wash and brush. I wash mine weekly and I brush them weekly and use my hands against the coat during the week. It helps, but it doesn't stop it obviously. At times like this, when the weather is changing in particular, you can not pick up a Pug without being smothered in hair. The amount of hair never ceases to amaze me to be honest. I do have one lad who has a very fine coat compared to the others. This is a 'single coat' Pug and although there aren't many, I have had a couple come through. They loose only a 1/10th of what a normal coated Pug loses.
  17. Poor dog. I hope the breeder can take him and give him a safe haven while a forever home is found.
  18. I feed raw and kibble in the evenings and raw only in the mornings. I don't have any issue with it and neither do any of the dogs. I don't feed bones though.
  19. Hi, welcome to DOL. Have a check through these threads first and see what you come up with. DOL thread 1 DOL thread 2 DOL thread 3 And these; Allergy thread 1 And another
  20. I advise everyone to send warning messages out to any rescues that they know giving details of these people and the stories they are concocting. It won't stop them I know but at least we can try and save some heartache that a rescue person will experience if they get their hands on a dog.

    Pug

They're are different in attitude most definitely. When I was first told that there was a difference, my first reaction was 'Pfft, how could a colour gene affect personality!" I have known a few blacks and have rescued quite a number them now, the last of which I just re-homed the other weekend, and I can guarantee that the blacks certainly appeared to have more spirit and zest than the fawns. They have a sense of wilfullness and fun which seems to be more amplified than what the fawns do.
  22. Going by their profile, they have read your message and not come back here since. I hope their existing dog is ok.
  23. It is not a food allergy. Food allergies are generally characterised by all over itching and repeated problems with the ears. Your dog sounds like it has a contact allergy, shown by the fact the irritation is on the paws and underbelly.
