  1. Could be she was confined as a pup outside in a small area and rocks were her only source of amusement before you got her? could be just a habit. i'd try a basket muzzle , she can breathe , pant, and drink still in one.
  2. Looks like you will have to go elsewhere for advice then then when it all goes belly up, as you can't stand anyone who tells it like it is. why come on for advice and then ignore it, and then expect everyone to say, good choice! Another one with NFI, who wants a dog now.
  3. I agree with rebanne . by your logic DD we should just send everyone to the nearest Petshop as that will make a difference to the puppy’s in there that need homes too .
  4. The dog may well have been all waggy tail in its kennel, take it out and put it in your place and see the change, has it ever been in a house? seen a tv, cars, washing machines? i hope it doesn't turn out to be a nervous nelly once out of its comfort zone as i'm sure as hell they won't take it back once they have your money in their grubby mits.
  5. I have a white dog , never use sunscreen . I have a colour preference in my breed too , I’m actually hunting for another right now , but the fit will be more important , even if it’s a red which is my least favorite colour ! If you have kids getting the right whippet is paramount , a nervy one will be a nightmare , and I fear the ones you saw may well have never left their runs and will be scared in the real world .
  6. Agree , hang around , there are good whippet breeders on here who may well be away showing this weekend .
  7. Fair enough then , it’s just blue is the in colour , can have lots of health risks that I’d rather not touch with a barge pole . Sounds like you are trying to do the right thing here . You could try sending “ dogmad” a private message as she rescues Italian greyhounds but also gets to know if whipped in need too .
  8. Are you looking to breed ? Is that why you have put breeders offside ? Nothing wrong with wanting a particular colour , but you may have worded It badly to sound like colour was all you were after .
  9. If it’s a whippet you are after go in the breed section and ask for advice . Good breeders rehome older dogs desexed for well less than the $950 you put in your ad .
  10. Mini’s are pretty full on , they also have a couple of health issues the standards don’t have . I haven’t met any that weren’t bat shit crazy energy wise . Standard ?
  11. Oh dear they saw you coming . byb trying to offload breeding stock that’s of no use . Do I think the dog is vaccinated etc , nope . Has she been bred too much and may have health issues waiting to rear their head with you , possibly . If you go ahead with this you maybe in for a lot of heartache . They are betting now you have see them you won’t back away , but might be the best thing . You are better getting a pup from a reputable breeder , if you say what breed you want someone can recommend someone .
  12. so sorry teebs, Bonn got it too, didn't know till it was too late, they are such tough buggers.
  13. First of all you removed the resident dog and allowed the pup to come in and get confident and claim his place, mistake. The dashy came home to a young intruder, much more powerful than him. In order for the dashy to get his point across he will have to really show it as his size won't, and he is likely to get hurt by a pup that big leaping all over him. You need to give the dashy an escape area where he doesn't have to deal with the pup, its not fair. Staffy's play hard , they are not a great match for a dashy, so you need to manage it.
  14. I agree Maddy about the vetting , my last 2 bullies were free , desexing was all I paid , I’m a single Mum and just can’t afford the 2k price tag of a pup . However Zelda cost me 5k in specialist fees last year , I borrowed the money because it had to be done .
  15. Personally the stand out action for me was the breeder took the dog back, that is the mark of a good breeder backing up its dogs, alot don't, so that alone is a good starting point. Alot of breeders ask a price for an older dog ( but older than 12 months, ex show or breeding dogs), but actually just want a good home and don't follow through with a fee. i suppose it depends if you want a pup or a slightly older dog, pros and cons to both, i'd go the 12 month old one anyday as assume its already trained to a certain degree and you can see its personalty and wether it fits your lifestyle.
  16. Probably wont be as crazy as the 98,000 calls they had for the dashy at BP. First in got her this morning, lady who got her had been there since 8.30am yesterday ! insane.
  17. They have just come up on my fb feed from the pound saying they are trying to trace owner. 3 missing, i do wonder if its a byb dumping stock?
  18. nope, but then we give opinions here, its allowed. i never really see how a judge can give best in show , no judge can be that knowledgeable on every breed put in front of it, preference must come into play .
  19. I would have have given it to the Akita or Scottie, didn't think the whippy showed very well. wasnt judge whippet breeder?
  20. Perhaps more meals then more often? something very filling?
  21. Dallies are great runners, mine was the best dog i ever owned and lived with a cattle dog too, my best boys, and healthiest two i have ever owned. Miss them everyday. However i have seen way too many dodgy temps in dallies recently so check this out if you go that route.
  22. You sure its no a bit of senility ? thinking she hasn't eaten? No idea on how to deal with it, but Dogmad has a fair few old cronies with odd behaviors, shoot her a message?
  23. A bit harsh to say you didn’t want advice , people are only trying to help , and Ish did have a similar experuence after a vaccine . Vets are never going to admit it tho .
  24. A lot of the bullies in rescue are not good with other dogs , byb at its worst . When I lost my girl I looked for ages but then decided to just get a breeers older dog looking for a home . I have had 2 now and although they take a while to adjust to living out of a kennel and in a home their temp was always great , as they should be . My previous one came from Victoria and I see they are advertising on the breed pages atm for homes for a couple of older dogs .
