  1. No I haven't.. I've been at home studying for the last week or so and barely left the house except to go to uni. So no changes in perfume or haircut or even clothing actually (though I don't think my pajamas are yet at the stage where they scare people with their odour--they're getting there though). It only started very very recently (I started noticing it around Wednesday/Thursday).
  2. For the last few of days, my boy Hugo has been doing the whole ears down tail down routine almost every time he sees me and I don't know why. He's fine as usual around my mother and doesn't act this way in her presence, only me (which leads me to believe it's not medically-related and he's not in pain or anything), and it only started from very recently. I've noticed that he appears utterly terrified of me every time I approach him with outstretched hands and even if I have a treat in said hand, he's still too scared to take it from me. This has never been an issue before, in the past I used to always squeal and go up to him with outstretched arms and he'd stand on his hind legs happily waiting for me to come over and cuddle/scratch him. We had a huge play this morning, some ball throwing and tug of war, and he was 100% fine and normal and his delightful self during play sessions, he still shoves me with his nose to get pats every now and again when I'm at the computer; but when we're not playing, if I directly approach him for a pat (entailing usually walking over to him with my hands out, making baby talk at him), he looks at me like I have a steak knife in my hand and I'm going to cut his eyes out. It's heartbreaking (and really frustrating)! What's going on??
  3. Or even less than that--they didn't ask for my name, or the breed. I assume they only had one puppy "out back" which is why they didn't need to verify.. Glad nobody evil decided to try their luck on the day I picked up Hugo and randomly ask the staff for a puppy that arrived that morning
  4. Wat. I have a genuine Dremel and it set me back $25 from mytoolstore.com.au D: There are places that sell them for $160?! edit: They don't seem to have it in stock anymore, but eBay has alright substitutes: www.ebay.com.au/itm/170759588409 Just buy a golf club cleaning Dremel and change the head? It's worked for other DOLers as far as I know.
  5. Holy cow, Tilly! That sounds a bit eep, glad there were no icky dramas with Hugo.. I picked him up from the JetPets depo place a while away from the airport, there was nobody there except for me and my friend and he was just snapping photos of me and the various stages of delirium I went through in the lead up to getting my Hugo. Nobody asked me for ID or anything, they just asked me who I was here for and I told them mine was an 8-week-old pup from NSW and they went out back and brought out my little raccoon in a crate  He was a bit smelly, he had probably wet himself a bit in the crate during the flight up; we put his collar on and let him have a bit of a wee on the grass outside, a little drink from the water bucket we took from his crate and then I just had him on my lap (on a thick towel) the whole drive home. He was very calm and docile, sleepy more than anything and just wanted a cuddle. Hm, doesn't sound like we were very prepared but you know he was a good puppy, he didn't wee or poop on my lap and slept the whole ride home :) Oh Katetk, I'm so jealous that you get to experience that euphoria all over again, I can hardly wait until I get my next Vallhund (once I've moved out of home) to feel those stomach butterflies once more on the drive to the airport How exciting!!
  6. Pets1 on DOL sells some sort of pee sticks that encourage dogs to limit their peeing to immediately around the stick, so maybe putting that stick in a corner of your yardto limit the damage would be the best solution for you?
  7. What a gorgeous baby.. K9Angel, you really are an angel you know! All the good karma in the world wished upon you and your family and little Cookie, you truly are a wonderful person.
  8. Oooh, I've found a new stockist of BH in Brisbane and I've set up an auto-delivery thingo with them. This happened in desperation when I realised that the coating of BH on the bottom of the bag wasn't deeper than I thought and it could only feed Hugo for about three more meals. I couldn't wait for Julana to deliver (I emailed her to put in an order yesterday and cancelled it today--got no reply for the first email so hopefully my order didn't go through!) sometime next week, so I looked at the stockists on the page, and I bought 20KG of BH from Paws for Life for ~$80 (incl. shipping), and they'll automatically deliver me another bag every six months too, which is brilliant!
  9. Oooh that would be so convenient.
  10. Hugo can't watch TV. Like, he literally cannot see the image on the TV. He'll respond to dog barks/whining, but he won't realise it's coming from the dog on the TV, he'll think it's coming from outside or behind the TV or in the room behind the wall the TV's on. We've tried to point at the TV, hold him up to it while the dogs are there making noises, everything, but he just can't watch TV. But he also can't read a pointed finger either, when we point to something like a ball or something, he doesn't look at the ball, he looks at the finger. He could be a bit retarded though  Otherwise this would be a pretty cool concept because he cracks it when we leave him at home alone.
  11. I'm not sure how accurate this source is but it seems to be very well referenced: http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com.au/2008/05/billion-dollar-heartworm-scam.html It brings up the same sort of concerns you have about over medicating dogs and stuff. I personally heartworm Hugo every month and a half, and I don't particularly believe that the extra 15 days left untreated would be detrimental to his health. Not to mention if heartworm is spread through mosquitos, his fur looks too thick to get through anyways and he spends all his time outside doing zoomies so he's not exactly a reliable landing pad for mozzies but we still do it every month and a half like clockwork just to be safe.
  12. Ah whoops yes TLC, he did get all of his puppy shots! :D I was just referencing what they said on their Facebook page, i.e. "you must be up to date with your vaccinations". And they followed up to my question on Titre testing with "Hi Demi xxx, unfortunately by not having his latest vaccination, this puts other dogs attending at risk, therefore we would ask if he is attending to please have his vaccination." And some other person followed up with "& this is why I don't take my dogs on this walk ... proof of vaccination should be a requirement of entry (" As though my dog is diseased or something
  13. I don't think booko lists e-books, only hard copies. As I understand it, it searches the databases of the online bookstores and if it finds the product lists the price. If it doesn't find the book in some of the databases it lists those stores it couldn't find it in, in a spreadsheet under the list of prices as either "not found" or "not available". Fishpond is on their listing so if it didn't come up with the Fishpond price it couldn't find it when it did the search, presumably because either Fishpond don't stock it or something about their listing is keyed differently (incorrect ISBN or title etc..) They have a separate section for an E-books search. It's in beta stage and it's pretty bad, I wouldn't bother with it. But if you're looking for paperback books, Booko is definitely king. It does get a bit tricky with differing editions though, because then I need to click on different editions results to check which one is the cheapest.
  14. It frustrates me that not more people recommend this source--I have found several places cheaper than the Book Depository thanks to this website (I mean that's its purpose, to compare lost of places that sell books to Australia!!). So people, forget about Book Depository as your first go-to place, if you know the title of the book, check out BOOKO first, because you may be in for a surprise with cheaper sources.
  15. I want to go but they won't accept titre tests and I refuse to give my dog vaccinations unless he needs them. It's quite sad, I went last year and we had quite a lot of fun :)
  16. Change Husky to Akita and you're set! In fact, you could probably change that to say don't get a spitz breed if those are your requirements. Hugo obeys me, was easy to train, I trust him off-leash, he bends over backwards to please me during a training session until I get tired or bored.. Maybe I got a mentally retarded dog because he seriously isn't a pain in the ass that Spitz people keep insisting their dog "group" is just generally like  I would say don't get a Vallhund if you don't want to suffer a stroke every time they bark (which they will LOL, in a very loud, sharp, ear-piercing fashion). Also they shed a hell of a lot. "Moderate shedders" my arse. Can't think of anything else, but I'm particularly biased in thinking that every person should have a Vallhund Oh, don't get one if you hate the constant thud of tennis balls dropped into your lap, though I haven't a clue if it's like that for all Vallhunds or not.
  17. For the sake of prettyness and making it look more like a genuine product. I don't think it will make the product cost more.. they changed it over quite a while ago.
  18. You say that like it's normal for people to, I dunno, crouch a few meters away from stray dogs, holding up a notepad and waiting for the dog to turn in just the right angle (potentially even following the dog in case it absentmindedly decides to chase after a squirrel, but they're pretty determined, so of course they have to tail it for a bit, maybe hide in the bushes because they're scared the dog will notice them and eat them up) to allow people to glance (and remember) a ten-digit number that they notice off the tag. If someone is going to be calling you about your missing dog, they have probably caught him/her and handled the tag.
  19. Guys, don't forget to factor in shipping costs as well Some places have $7 shipping and some have free shipping, so that will alter the price a lot as well...
  20. Skruffy n Flea, I just squirted a good amount in a shallow-ish bowl of water and mixed it around a bit, I didn't use any sort of ratio But I left him in there for fifteen minutes and rinsed them afterwards. If you're gonna soak your dog's feet though, make sure you wash the back ones thoroughly too, I put him in the sink and washed his front feet and I forgot that he had back feet and they were getting wet so he trailed dirt/mud over the carpet and made sure he did zoomies for the next ten minutes.. quite gleefully too. Little.. argh!
  21. I laughed out loud at this, Hugo was also giving me the stink eye when I was soaking his yeasty feet and had him sit between my legs with his front paws dunked in a bowl of water/malaseb. Luckily he doesn't have to endure that treatment anymore, but the withering looks he gave me could melt the flesh off my face I just squirt it in too, because I'm lazy to measure
  22. Have the Black Hawk people ever considered setting up a website where people can buy the food from? Like someone places an order and pays by credit card and the order goes to the supplier depending on what the person's postcode is, something like that.
  23. I like it too, and spread it on Facebook, it's quite a good article
  24. Before submitting, spellcheck. Or.. maybe it's the correct spelling if you have a NZ accent.. "Wonders" is a word so it wouldn't show up on a spellcheck. It would be a grammar error. Also that is so cuuute!! I wish a baby seal would crawl onto my couch..
  25. That's pretty naff.. :SMy 20KG bag has almost run out, need to contact Julana to get some more in Hugo's coat looking wonderful but he's a bit pudgy.. we may be overfeeding him.
