  1. Emma wasn't able to walk her last Million Paws Walk so we created a trolley for her, she loved it because she could speak to everone still and got to smell all the smells and hear what was going on. A bit easier for me because she wasn't in a position to jump out (she did try once, but then figured it was just easier to sit!!). So if your dog will sit in a cart of some sort this can be excellent. Em in her trolley Oh !!!! That's just the sweetest pic, very cute Pretty Miss Emma, I'm going to do that when mine aren't able to do the Paws walk as well. Wonder if I will be able to find a tandem one.

I never thought of putting Stella on a lead. DER ! LOL but she has improved heaps since I have taught her 'leave it' she does it seldom now. She turns around to do it, then thinks about it & doesn't, which is good.Just mainly when I am out & not their to watch her, which isn't very often.
  3. Hi BC love, I only went to our local obedience training club once & that was because they made me put a check chain on Sonny at 16 weeks of age & the instructor told me I was too soft with him & snatched him from me & proceeded to drag him along yelping his head off !!! I was fumeing & I left in tears & never went back. I did learn one very valuable lesson from that though, you do what you think is best & works best for you & your dog. I think I was very unlucky with what happened to us but I believe their is good & bad examples in everything. I sooo wish I could find a nice obedience club around my area with trainers that had a bit of understanding. I just read heaps now & train both mine with a method that works for me, bits & pieces of everything positive. Good luck with training.
  4. I have a 42" crate for Sonny & yes it is ginormous !! & he absolutely loves it. His is in the laundry cause he sleeps there at night, with the door open. I have a Snooza futon in there with a satin pillow ( just stops his coat from getting knotty) case over it & he has a pillow as well, very spoilt !!. I find these futons very good as they are made from 100 % wool, so they are warm in winter & cool in summer. I got mine from Dog Beds Galore online. They last for years & I Just wash them in the machine & line dry.
  5. Yes, same at our house, & it makes for a really interesting "quiet" night watching the Tele, doesn't it!!!! LOL. Spend half the night telling Sonny to be quiet. Like a three ring bloody circus.
  6. My male Border Collie has always watched the T.V. he will race up to the screen & bark if there is another dog / animal on there pretty much of any description. When he was little he would run outside & look also at the back of the t.v. to see if they were there.Makes it almost impossible to watch The Dog Whisperer LOL. But what really amazes me with him is when we are watching the C.I. channel or if undesirable person comes on the news, murderer e.t.c he creeps up & growls, teeth showing, with his hackles up & carries on. I just don't know how he can tell they are not nice people. If I didn't call him back I think he would jump through the tele at times. go figure, really weird !!! He has always been very perceptive my boy.

My 8 month old BC still does it & has pretty much always done it. I have tried pineapple (fresh) in her food made no difference. I just watch her & pick it up as soon as she eliminates. She just goes to the toilet & straight away turns around & eats it sometimes so I have to be very quick. Thats all I can do. Had her to the vets,he said she has a very good diet & is very healthy & fit. I am hoping she grows out of this aweful habit. I have another BC & she doesn't touch his, just her own.
  8. Yes, I waited about 2.5 months before getting Sonny after I lost Redman at 14.5 years old. He had been sick for about 6 months before he passed away. He was really special as I rescued him at 18 months of age from an extremely mentally & physically abusive residence.I just adored him. From day one he trusted me 100%. I could do anything with him. I miss him still & think about my special Redman often. I reckon because I knew for sometime that he was going to pass that I had pretty much prepared myself for 'that moment' & with that I didn't wait as long to get Sonny as I probably would have had Redman gone suddenly. It is a very personnal thing, our house just wasn't a home after Redman had gone. Almost clinnical. All the warmth had gone. Now I have Sonnny & Stella girl as well & am enjoying having 2 dogs for the first time & loving every minute of it. :D It's been an aweful week for you Pretty Miss Emma & Gayle K. My thought's are with you both.
  9. So sorry for the loss of your dearest best mate & so very young.I welled up reading your post as your boy was just one year older than my boy. Iv'e always had a big soft spot for Aussies. Just makes me wonder WHY !! sometimes. R.I.P. Benson, forever young boy, run free. Take care .
  10. What a huge heart you have to adopt an older furry kid kbrown. I am so sure that Bronson's golden years were his best ever cause they were spent with you & your family, a very much loved member of your family. Now he is running free over rainbow bridge but he hasn't left you all together, theirs that very special spot in your heart that remains his & all those fond memories. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. RIP boy,
  11. I buy my tick & flea products from Trixan Pets Supplies Aust. They are very reasonable with their prices I find & most times it is next day delivery. Excellent service!!

  14. I have found it takes a while for a BC pup to settle in as they are usually quite sensitive to sound / different noises & surroundings. Your puppy is missing the other siblings as well. It is a lot for a littley to take in & adjust to, so it will just take some time & lots of patience. And as another Doler said if your pup is shy now she always was it just doesn't happen. My girl is 8 months old now & still whines occasionally when I leave her & she has another BC for company so she is never alone. Some pups are just more vocal than others. I just ignore any whinning e.t.c. as long as you know there is nothing wrong & they are just having a sook. Have fun with your new little girl & enjoy her. It is very early days, just take it slow & try to build her confidence. Every tiny positive step forward she takes make a big deal out of it with lots of gentle praise & affection. Good luck with her. Makes me want another puppy now
  15. Hi, my male BC, 'Sonny' had hair loss issues about 8 months ago, after our vet found nothing wrong with him I got onto this great product & the hair grew back beautifully & I still use it about once a month as a conditioner. It is a bit pricey but once you see the results it is well worth it.I buy it through Pets on the Park online & it's called EQyss Mega-Tek coat rebuilder. You can use it on a dry or wet coat, dirty or clean & I leave it on over night. It smells sensational & makes their coat silky soft & promotes growth. It is all natural as well. Hope this was of some help.
  16. Oh dear, so sorry for your loss. Just tragic. Our thoughts are with you & also Pretty miss Emma. RIP furry kids. Run free together now
  17. Oh dear, I can hardly see the keyboard of my computer to type this through the tears. I watched that utube clip & it was so beautiful. So sorry for your loss k9 Angel , RIP Whitey painfree runfree now beautiful boy. You were ever so courageous.
  18. Love these pic's B-Q, they are having sooo much fun !!!!
  19. Yes, we are right into our furry kids birthday bashes. Any excuse to party right We have a cake, party hats & we have prezzies & a special dinner, whatever is the pups fav. is ATM Not much different to any other day really, my 2 are so Spoilt ! That's what you have them for isn't it. To love them.
  20. Sorry to hear about your niece & her dog to a bait Thats the frustrating part Teebs, isn't it? There is nothing you can do to ease their hurt & it is just not meant to go like that. My niece was just so excited & waited for a long time, all the anticipation & in an instant, gone!!!
  21. Zoe's new jumper & lead that was ordered for her came in the mail from America, my brother just put it away for awhile. This is just so unfair on a child. Especially when she tried to do everything correctly. I am going to take her walking with my 2 furry kids this week (she loves walking the dogs) try & cheer her up. I don't know much about the Parvo virus, might do some reading up on it. Aweful thing that it is.
  22. I love this site. Learn't something new again, Digger nose. Must put that in the memory bank. Glad to hear all is well now
  23. Oh yes zug zug, her step mum would have & she even brought a little book, like an a-z of doggy care. grooming e.t.c. & a pink little brush.
  24. It saddens me to type this My 11 year old niece, who is the sweetest girl you could ever wish to meet saved up long & hard for her first puppy. Did the research about what type of pup would suit her needs e.t.c, had the family discussion & came up with a Silky Terrior. Contacted a registered breeder, got "Zoe" flown down from QLD to Newcastle airport. Got her at 12 weeks. Love at first site. She absolutely loved this dear little girl. Only had Zoe a month & she died of Parvo virus. This is soooo sad. My niece even got the 12 week vaccination a day early to be on the safe side. Little Zoe was rushed to the vet after my brother went to see her early one morning & Zoe was almost unconscious & passed away a few hours later. Bloody PARVO. Death of your pet is hard enough for an adult to handle let alone a child. My niece is just crying all the time as she had become so attached to her. Being her first puppy & all. A month later she is dead. R.I.P. Zoe. Forever young, run free little girl
