  1. Yes it's nice to know we are not alone. Glad to hear things are improving for you & the munchkin I think confidence has lots to do with a positive outcome & remaining calm. Sometimes much easier said than done. I am working on the very same thing as you & I am very gradually seeing a glimmer of light at the end of a very long tunnel.
  2. Hi Joan of Arc, I just swapped Stella over from Advantix to Advantage for a month & her facial hair regrew & she hasn't showed any signs of it again & I swapped her back to Advantix shortly after as we live in a coastal area where the ticks are bad. I have also always added a 1/2 teaspoon apple cidar vinegar in her dinner of a night as it helps keep the red tones out of her coat. I haven't used any of the other treatments you have mentioned. Sorry not more help.
  3. BC Crazy - Complete dunnies are the ones who don't ask when they need to know something In this context, LAT means the Look at That game as set out in Leslie McDevitt's book and DVD Control Unleashed. Well worth getting hold of IMO. (If it was in an obedience competition thread, it would likely mean left about turn. ) LAT as in Look at That has been talked about and described a bit lately, so hopefully it will turn up in a search. Thanks Tassie, so there is hope for me yet you reckon. I dunno. I'd like to get that Control Unleashed DVD. Will have a bit of a search on here too. My girl is very reactive to most things so we may well benefit from trying it out.
  4. Agree 100 % & am doing very similar things with my 2. My little girl is not doing all that well with the sharing with other dogs though but we are working on it ;) Also I do take mine to a leash free beach but I pick who they play with & that is very, very few.
  5. At the risk of sounding like a complete dummy LOL was wondering what LAT is.
  6. Thanks for the "heads up" dandybrush regarding the Proban. ;) Hope Willow is all good to go now :D Also thanks Sheena regarding the info about both Proban & Permoxin. I had never heard of either product. My 2 swim everyday so the Permoxin wouldn't suit us. Not sure I am keen to try the Proban either with the risk of any side effects. I am paranoid about ticks, they do my head in worrying about the retched things.
  7. I apply Advantix fortnightly. Every three weeks in winter. If we go away camping I will also put an Preventic Tick collar on ours as well. You can't let the collar get wet though. Very interested in Sheena comments though. I have never heard of Proban or Permoxin. Would like to know more about either product. You can never be to careful with retched ticks. I check my 2 furry kids everyday, touch wood, so far so good.
  8. Way to go Bruno !! Your a real showman now. Very handsome too.
  9. My girl is desexed so the coming into season I am unsure about but have heard & read that it can play a major part in this whole fear phase period I take my older boy out with us pretty much all the time & I find she is tonnes more relaxed than on her own ATM. He is a very steady natured dog. Was thinking of trying her with a Thunder Shirt for when we go in the car as she is very anxious when she's traveling, thought it may help. Also have just started giving her Vetalogica Calming tabs, just giving her 1 tab in the morning, will see how she goes on that dose. Might up it if required. Just trying things out to ease her symptoms cause it must be an aweful feeling to be afraid pretty much all of the time
  10. My girl is going through a fear phase ATM she has just turned 9 months. She is very easily freaked out by just about everything. She is a fairly high drive girl anyway but she seems to be going a 100 miles an hour of late. Also even more talkative than usual, if that is possible I am of no help to you sorry but am very interested in how other Dolers handle this time in their pups lives. I try to act indifferent to her frightened state & encourage & try to support anything that will give her confidence. Unsure what else to do. I would of thought 13 months is a late to be having a fear phase but correct me if I am wrong anybody. Suppose every dog if different.
  11. I usually roll them into the middle of a raw mince ball & they get gobbled down. But if she is off her food, tilt her head back & poke the tablet right at the back of her throat & hold her mouth shut & rub her throat to help her swallow it. Hope this helps
  12. Oh no Jules P. Buckets full of good thoughts from my 2 furry kids & myself. Go the power of positive thinking. We are in your corner Amber.
  13. Ha Ha, it helps when you have a lovely son-in-law that works for a courier company, & who'd do anything to keep his mother-in-law happy Got to love that.
  14. That is awesome! Bet you had heaps of fun.
  15. I ordered my usual 20 kilo bag of BH Holistic from Sheena, mid coast distributor 2 days ago It was on my front door step this morning, how is that for service !!! And only $10 delivery. Now I had better get my act together & run down to the bank to pay for it.
  16. AWWW, Dant your new little Alwyn,he is ultra cute & good on you for rising above the prejudice if you feel that was the case. You were unfortunate enough to experience. I am a firm believer in making my own judgements & I always go with my gut feeling. Whether a person is black, white, gay straight or whatever. There is good & bad in all. I am sure Alwyn is going to be a very much loved furry darling for you & your partner & he will return all of that affection 10 fold. Good luck & enjoy him. :D
  17. Yes, I think it has a bit with pup's character. Just a little more sensitive, Romymyst I agree, My little girl is very tuned to me,very sensitive & highly driven.Just part of her personality to be vocal. I don't run to her every time she whines, only when I know she does need me, I ignore the other whines & she has improved 100% to what she was to begin with. Maturity also helps them improve of course. What is a Wagtails course Romymyst, I have never heard of it? Sound interesting.
  18. I just shake my head. I thought i had heard it all. WRONG !!
  19. OMG !!! What the hell is wrong with these people. Poor little JRT. How insanely cruel. This type of practice should be outlawed.
  20. Drives me nuts too What is wrong with some people. I just don't understand their reasoning. Meanwhile the poor bloody animal is the one that suffer's AGAIN !
  21. Thanks K9 Katz that makes it clearer to understand about all this protein thing.
  22. Oh !!! I love GR's, got the most beautiful eye's. Very cute pic
  23. My girl is very vocal also so you are certainly not alone there. Stella has been very talkative from day 1 & still is at 9 months old. She to settles well at night. Not a peep! But during the day she whines if she wants to see me as she is usually outdoors. When we are out walking, she "talks" to everyone that comes along, 2 legged or 4. Whines lots, mainly excitment I think & she has always been an edgy little girl. Plus she is going through a fear period ATM so she has really hit top note. We do get a lot of looks & one guy did comment "is that the only note she can sing in".
  24. I did the same as you Wuffles, jumped in between them before I even give them a 2nd thought, whoops
  25. Poor brave fella. Very good news that he is on the mend now. Beautiful big boy. Sez it all. Carries on doing his job with a severe head injury. So stoic. I will never make sense of all the violence in our world. Always the innocent ones that suffer the worst.
