  1. I know this topic has been done to death but i have to vent my frustration.I know people have to rehome their pets for many reasons;i get it i understand .Today for the 5th time i have emailed and in this case called a breed club about a pure breed dog/pup being rehomed .I feel by not contacting the breed club they are putting these dogs at risk.Ok they may find a great home for them but there are also dodgy people who can act the part of caring responsible people to get thier hands on a cheap undesexed pure breed;I was near in tears when i saw the advert for this stunning young pup 13 weeks old for sale for a fraction of what she was worth. There would be people on a waiting list for such a pup from a breeder.Another one resently offering a bitch for sale on limited register touted as ''good for breeding''.Fortunately the club were on to it right away.I don't suppose you can do much about it ,but if you come accross adverts like this give the breed club in your state an email and at least they have the oppertunity to try to help the dog/pup.Also if breeders could alert to thier puppy buyers about the risk of dodgy people buying pups that need rehoming ;although i'm sure you do already. The breed club are looking into helping this gorgeouse pup;so i hope they can. Sorry for the long rave but i needed to let off steam. Cheers everyone
  2. I hope she is found soon.Poor girl and pups.
  3. If you like larger dogs, what about an Irish wolfhound or Deerhound.?We had a Wolfhound x for 10 years and her exercise requirements were moderate;short periods of active then she was happy to lay about near me for much of the day.She had a kennel under the verander but would sleep inside if there was a thunder storm or cracker night. She was inside with me for most of the day and could go in and out when she wanted. She shed minimal hair;mosly a small amount twice a year .She was very good around children and small dogs .She did not bark unless there was someone at the gate. Her size was a good deterent for prowlers, and one night when my husband was out a man climbed the fence and was at the back door untll she saw him off over the fence;so she was protective in that situation. However she did let the plumber in and didn't bark just followed him to the front door and kept an eye on him.

  5. I agree with a smooth collie.A friend of mine has one her 3 daughters have grown up with .She told me they were very pleased with her and she is a good family dog.
  6. A little basic education is safer than not having a clue.
  7. Yes i would go.Having owned a bullterrier x i had to learn to read other dogs when out walking and could usually tell the ones that wanted to have a go at my dog and avoid them.
  8. I was cleaning out my budgie cages and nest boxes when the phone rang.On my return dog was eating container full of bird droppings;i felt sick myself .Was always very carefull where i put the container after that.Yuk.
  9. Sometimes there are accidents;but often it's a case of ignorance or the old "she'll be right ''attitude.I recently declined the offer of a pup-mother Rottweiler-dad Toy Poodle. Saw pictures of the pups via my daughters facebook. They look cute enough but i can see joint problems and lots of grooming down the track.I hope they can at least find decent homes for them. And desex thier dogs .

  12. I used to be one of those people who were afraid of Dobermans;untill i actually met one.My daughter and her partner share a house with a couple and thier Doberman. He is well trained but he will get naughty if he thinks he can get away with it as the men in the house spoil him .My daughter only has to look at him and he will get off the couch and go to his bed.He is walked twice a day but is always up for as much exercise and attention as he can get; If you put your shoes on or go near the front door he is there in antisipation..He is no guard dog;dosent even bark when someone comes to the door.He likes to chase cats and once ate an entire possum. He gets so focused on you that sometimes he walks into things.Perhaps also look at Dalmations;they were bred to run alongside horses and carriage.

  24. I think Danois was refering to the OP and not you Huskies4life88 ;At least that's how it reads to me ?The op only saw one bitch so maybe she just assumed that all the pups came from her.Not everyone is familiar with dog reproduction.Perhaps the breeder has other bitches kept elswhere that would account for the litters advertised. I would like to point out that many members like myself spent some time reading this forum before joining. It took me 3 years to teach myself to use a computer -not my generation-then get the nerves and confidence -due to a chronic illness- to join and start posting.
  25. ''Putting on weight;-housework needs attention"I can so identify with this.DOL is like a good book that you just can't put down.It has a bit of everything;drama, angst ,tears and jokes,in amongst helpful information and different points of view. There should be a"" warning dol can be addictive""when you sign up.
