  1. You sound like you are being a great mum to him :) In regards to the breeder if she is registered & sold him as a registered puppy then you should definately receive papers for him. When I purchased my Lucy 3 years ago it took 6 months for me to receive the papers. (I'm in Perth & purchased her from NSW) I contacted dogsNSW & they were really, really helpful. Their email address is [email protected] From memory I just had to give them the breeders prefix & Lucy's DOB & maybe her microchip number. Turned out that the breeder hadn't even registered the litter but they must have followed her up on that as I did eventually receive the papers. I would be inclined to let them know that they sold the pup to you so young as well. I sometimes feed mine turkey mince but generally they have a chicken wing at night & kibble in the morning. I think the chicken wings are good for keeping their teeth clean. I second cavNrott about the crate. They are invaluable. He is super duper cute BTW. Please let us know how you get on :)
  2. HuskyDrake I am also so sorry for your loss. Condolonces to you & your family.
  3. Wow how dreadful for you, the man & his grand daughter. I'm glad it was a good outcome & that you have taken positive steps to ensure it won't happen in future. Very nice of the old man to say what he did :)
  4. I'm sorry for your loss. We said goodbye to our own ginger boy, Miles, 3 years ago when he was 15 & I still miss him like crazy. Ginger cats are the best RIP Ginger Puss

I'm so sorry for your loss
  6. My Lucy looked kinda fluffy like your pic. I stripped her by hand - took ages but it was well worth it. It got rid of all the fluffy. I never understand why people with Cavs would want to clip them. They are just beautiful as is I also don't understand when people say "My dog is so much cooler when I clip" How would you know that? lol!
  7. Hi All It's been a last minute decision to take my son trick or treating & he wants to bring Lucy. Does anyone have any easy cheap ideas that I can make something or where I can buy something? I'll pop into City Farmers today to have a look but I'm not sure if they'll have that kind of thing... Thanks!
  8. One of my friends purchased a cavalier x poode puppy from a petshop recently (against my advise of course). The dog cost her $1800 becuase it is a "Designer Breed" you know like Jessica Simpson & the like have :banghead: When someone asks what breed it is she refers to it as a "Cavoodle"
  9. Jules I am so sorry for your loss Please know that you, Michael, Renae & little Miah have been in my thoughts since Joey's passing He was a special dog for a special owner xxx
  10. My heart dog is my Lucy (in my pic) I never realised until I got a second dog Zara who I love but I have such a strong bond with my Lucy girl. She follows me around the house, has to be wherever I am. As soon as I sit down she's on my knee. She loves walks & car rides, chasing the ball, playing with toys, being brushed, bathed, groomed. She understands a lot of things that I say.. If anything happened to her I'd be absolutely devastated
  11. Zara would go crazy is a womens shoe shop!
  12. Lol.. I figured as much but I've never heard of it as a stripping tool   I'm lucky Lucy doesn't have such a long coat so I only have to use my hands when she's in the bath opposed to the above methods :) this may change one day, of course..
  13. furminator stripping stone dull stripping knives rubber glove/finger condoms depends on the coat and how easy it is to work. Best to get instruction on how to use the tools so you don;t damage the coat FINGER CONDOMS?? What are they!?
  14. Thanks dogmad :) That's pretty much how I did it with Lucy & she learnt fairly quickly as a puppy I'll stick to what you've said & hopefully will be all good. I've let the breeder know what I'm changing her name to & asked her to start using it so hopefully that will help :)
  15. I'd be steering clear of that one! Don't be scared to look interstate... Just make sure you sight the parents heart/eye certificates. Both my dogs come from Sydney & I'm on Perth. It's not that expensive to fly them :)
  16. Hi Slznck :) I have a blenheim girl & a ruby on the way.. (8 more sleeps!) Yah! I don't find that they are too much work. I bath Lucy every 4 - 6 weeks & at the same time trim her nails & pads. I give her a good brush once or twice a week. Her ears need brushing the most as they are quite long & prone to knots. If you dont' keep on top of them they are really hard to get out :) Every time I bath her I squirt some epitoc in her ears & give them a massage. She had frequent ear infections as a pup but I can't remember the last time she had one. Lucy only ever sits on the couch either on me or next to me when I sit down, otherwise she is just folling me around or if she gets bored of doing that she goes in her crate :) They like to be with their people :) Yes they shed ALOT. I've got a dyson animal & a roomba robot vacuum cleaner & an enjo floor cleaner & between all 3 of them my floors are still hairy.  I don't enjoy housework! I hope you get your cav soon! How exciting! PS - Pop over to the ckcs breed sub forum thread! :)
  17. Yes I know.. I think its weird too Jules Maybe she's not kept inside? I don't know. I meant to ask but forgot. I'm not too bothered. Cavs are pretty smart & I'm sure she'll pick it up soon esp with big sister Lucy to show her :) Thats awesome! Thanks Meggie :) Can I ask if you changed your whippets name & how did he go with that? The name I have picked out is completely different to what it is now.
  18. We have a new cavalier joining our family next week She is 8 months old and not toilet trained  When I got Lucy she was a puppy so had to pee every second lol but I guess older dogs have a bigger bladder so can hold on longer? Obviously I'll use a command word every time she goes & praise & I have a crate that I can put her in if need be, but just wondering if anyone has any tips? thanks
  19. I use a retractable lead but only ever down the beach. Most of the dogs down there are off lead anyway. I'm never off in "fairyland" when I'm using it & if I see a dog approaching on lead or a small child that my dog might be tempted to jump on I lock it in place so its restricted. I haven't had any problems with mine snapping. I only have a small cavalier though. I would definately not use one on a large breed dog as I could see it happening easily.
  20. Its a sucky situation..Personally, if I were in your situation, I would take one each. Yes its hurtful that you'll lose one but consideration should be taken into your OH's feelings too. I'm sure it would be worse to lose both. Is this an amicable breakup that you can still remain friends so that if you do take one each you can still visit? Good luck with your decision x
  21. +1 If you've nothing constructive or supportive to say keep it to yourself!
  22. OMG. I just don't know what to say... I'd be asking what action she is taking against the employee(s) who left him there. Also for her to cover any vet costs & any kind of memorial thing you are doing for Buddy. I'm not sure what else to suggest.
  23. OMG. How dreadful. This is by far one of the worstt things I've read on this forum I am so so sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine how you feel. This is just awful I hope you get your justice for your Buddy
