  1. ...the product can be different http://www.nobivac.ca/nobivac-canine-vaccines.asp ...e.g. NobivacĀ® Canine 1-DAPPv vs. NobivacĀ® Canine 3-DAPv (if we talk about the C3 shot)....but who wants to know really :) ? The standard C3 vaccine is effective for at least 3 years. No need to pay more for some fancy relabelled C3.
  2. You are paying for the research so the company can call it a triennial vaccine.
  3. A cocker spaniel would be well and truly full grown at 2yrs 9mths. :)
  4. So sad to hear about Benny. He was such a gorgeous boy and so lucky to have landed with your family xx
  5. Willem don't make everything more complicated than it needs to be! I knew what she was asking, the post was pretty clear!
  6. Some vaccine makers have gone to the trouble of having their vaccs researched so they can be called triennial. Some vaccine makers have not bothered. It is exactly the same vaccine except some are 'off label' for the triennial schedule.
  7. It is the same vaccine.
  8. Who did the surgery? Local vet or specialist?
  9. I wouldn't let a general vet do such a surgery. Ask for a referral to a specialist.
  10. Except I dont think what goes on here is to protect their members at all costs in fact it would be better for them to sacrifice the occasional bad ones in order to protect their PR. First we dont know yet if its as bad as its been reported, we dont know if they have really breached their code of ethics - its possible to fit with the code of ethics but still not comply with the state codes. There are lots of breeders like this that are registered with DogsVic. A huge puppy farmer in Gippsland once bragged to me about how she was also a registered breeder with DogsVic. Another Collie breeder has recently been raided by the RRPCA and she has been pumping out hundreds of puppies every year for god knows how long. Her dogs are kept in disgusting conditions. But she is still registered with DogsVic.
  11. To me, this is just like what happened with the Greyhound racing industry. They knew shit was going on but they ignored it. Mentality was to protect their members at all costs. And now the shit has hit the fan. DogsVic can no longer sit back and collect fees and do nothing to ensure their breeders are half decent. The public are now more confused than ever. And rightly so! If a rego fee is all that separates registered breeders from BYB, how can anyone know where to find a reputable breeder?
  12. How often do you wash him? Do you blow dry him or towel dry?
  13. Yep six dogs lol. Tiny little bed hogs. I did manage to squeeze in as well. :)
  14. This cold weather is making bed time interesting...
  15. It can include deregistraton. For a body that has no legal powers, that's as bad as they can make it. I know that but the wording sounds pretty weak. Also the public don't know that either. Maybe leading with the promise of deregistration and full cooperation with the aim of legal prosecution might have been stronger. Exactly.
  16. Found their statement. Very wishy washy. "DOGS Victoria and its members are horrified by the recent reports of 100 plus dogs seized by the RSPCA. On Tuesday June 7, the RSPCA advised that warrants were being executed simultaneously on two residences in Longwood Victoria. Upon receiving the report, DOGS Victoria afforded the RSPCA every resource available to the Association, including the newly appointed Field Officer. The Associations primary concern is the welfare of these dogs, consequently Dogs Victoria continues to make available the Associations resources. DOGS Victoria as do the RSPCA and local council, rely heavily on concerned members and the public reporting circumstances in which dogs are kept in unacceptable conditions in order to take remedial action. DOGS Victoria does not condone this activity in any way and any member found in breach of the Association Codes of Practice will be subject to disciplinary action."
  17. What has the vet said? Has it been xrayed? No way to tell how severe the condition is or what the future issues may be without knowing exactly what you are dealing with.
  18. PLEASE make sure you get a contract in writing regarding the conditions of the agreement. Doesn't matter how friendly it all seems, just do it! Cover things like how many litters does she want? How many puppies constitute a litter? Eg if she only has one puppy, will she want an additional litter? Where will the dog whelp and raise puppies? How long will she be away? When does she legally become yours? Who covers what costs? Etc etc.
  19. Notice how they make sure to reference her as a show breeder, the dogs are show dogs, etc. This has been waiting to happen for so long and it is about bloody time that Dogs VIC got off their arses and did something about it. The animal rights groups will be having a field day. I know of several other large scale 'registered breeders' who have also been reported but are still members. How can people choose a reputable breeder with scum like this in amongst the good breeders? Showed their dogs? Tick. Registered breeder? Tick. Advertises on DOL? Tick. Dogs VIC and the other registries need to do way more to ensure they are only registering REPUTABLE breeders. If a breeder is registering 100's of puppies per year, alarm bells should be ringing. They should do regular random inspections to ensure premises are clean and suitable. And they need to grow some balls and kick out the members who are not towing the line. They have sat on their hands for far too long and now all registered breeders are going to be tarred with the same brush. This person isn't being called a puppy farmer, they are being called a show breeder.
  20. That sounds like mastitis which is rupturing. Mastitis can kill your bitch. I would be getting to a vet ASAP and weaning the puppies immediately.
  21. Lol Preston also barks if he needs help. Usually it's because he has gotten up on the couch but can't get down. Or he can't find me. :)
