I have to admit we have the same issue with Gus. I'd never place him in position, that doesn't sound great at all on the schools part! Sometimes he will do it if you lure him without a treat, but I still have to get low and 'lure' him down and reward with praise, which works. I'll be keeping any eye out for a solution too!

I would have thought that was the case too but hey!

I assume if immunity is lower than it should be? I pretty much ruled that out instantly. There's a really nice one we've found who's quoted 110. I knew that one would be pricy as it's an inner eastern suburban practice. When we lived in St Kilda we paid heaps at vets!

"To Steph, Thank you for your question, yes we do perform the titre test here we can do it at any age as long as the dogs have had their puppy vaccinations and it is generally done when they are due for the vaccinations. It costs $315.42 per dog to be done and as long as the dog is healthy that is all that is required but if an abnormality shows up then we do need to vaccinate. If you have any further questions please give us a call" I have a question. Why are you 3 and a bit times more than my highest quote so far? Ruled you our, lady!

I was pretty sure Gus did the first one on the front lawn on getting out of the car. Lucky OH avoided a lap full of that one I think...

Some cool ideas. I just bought us a sprinkler! Couldn't be left with it as it'd get eaten like the hose (like living with teenager stoners. It just gets shorter and shorter) but can have a good play under it before we go out. We seem to leave as much fun as we can but still come home to something ruined. Lucky it's usually a pilfered sock or a soft toy...

Sorry to go OT but I'm having huge trouble finding a vet who does it here also. The confused sounds on the end of the phone are something else! Would you vacc the 12 month ones and titre thereafter or titre from 12 mths, post initial puppy vaccs?

HAHA! So funny! We have had a breakthrough here. Anyone who follows the dear thread knows I had an idiot acquaintance over yesterday and her bratty dog was stealing food from peoples plates, hands and the table. All the while Gus and Rosie sat patiently on the grass and waited to be offered leftovers. They were gentle with Lily, my niece (7mths) and didn't jump on anyone or raid the bins or lick like crazy. It was great. They were total angels! A lot of these friends hadn't seen him since the puppy warning when he was 9 weeks, so it was quite a shock. They were both a delight though! Super proud. All the hard work is paying off! Though Gus did just got on the bed and became magically deaf when I asked him to get off. Off is a command he's normally OK with. Jerk. I'll let it slide though... -
I loved ours for the social aspect. Gus still catches up with a few dogs from his class, getting used to having other people handle him and exposure to kids and noises and things was great, but certainly not something we couldn't do ourselves. Next time I'd consider skipping it if we couldn't find one that suited. Easy enough to meet and greet lots of people and things. The one thing I was grateful for with ours was the 'bring a prop' segment. Someone bought.a sports whistle, another some crutches and a wheelchair, one person bought garbage bags and another a vacuum. Its a good idea even to remember its all new to puppies. They were allowed to sniff these and have a look and I think that was a great idea.

You could do some stuff at home in the 3 weeks! Puppy school is more for the people than dogs sometimes I think.

We have a tirebiter retriever for fetching from water and its amazing. Super solid! Though he doesn't get to chew on it... -
I found ours pretty basic for the first week, lots of talking and basic care advice. Tbh we didn't learn much in the way of training but Gus met people, older dogs, clinic cats and we all learned a lot of handy hints, more from each other than anything but it was a good experience nonetheless. I agree with raising it with them, diva had a great way of wording at the start there. But take what you can from it and chalk it up to a learning experience.

I'd so love a new car, the fiesta isn't much use for 2 people and 2 buh dogs... -
Mum's Shih Tzu is an amazing swimmer! The Maltese however...not so good. I also know a Golden retriever who can't swim to save himself so its not so clear cut, methinks! Haha.

It does! I just don't want to hassle her or have her assume I'm 'after anything' etc. Will draft an email this evening. Never a dull moment! -

NB it was outside so most of it went on the grass. Called the vet back who said she will have the runs but be fine. -

So, Gus the wonder dog has entropion, which explains the battle with weepy eyes we've had since he got here. Lots of half, hearted diagnoses with a course of antibiotics and come back if it keeps up. Few hundred in vet bills etc. Older vet takes one look today and goes 'see how the lower eyelids roll in? Bam. He was there for a lump on his leg, our vet said its a second wart but it looks pretty foul. He's taken a sample and will know Monday. Seriously. What a saga. This is gonna be the most expensive desex ever! Also while we were out Rosie drank half a litre of argan oil body oil. My brother is housesitting this weekend. Do I tell him or leave that as a special surprise? Haha. If you can't laugh what can you do? Also. Do I tell Gus's breeder about his eyes? Is that something they'd appreciate knowing or am I being a pest with the constant updates.
