  1. Gus gets a good bone too. He just drags his feet....haha.
  2. For most of his formative puppy years Gus couldn't work out when the glass door was shut or open, but just yesterday I dropped a hot bit of chorizo out of the pan and he was in there like a shot and down it went. I was mortified, last I saw he was asleep under the air con. Funny how fast he can move for food, yet when I say 'outside' before work, you'd think he was 100. He dithers along and has to pick a toy and make sure Rosie's gone out first, then have a drink, then one last pleading look...anyway. Hahah!
  3. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! You are in for soooo much fun! He is adorable!
  4. Haha!!! Retriever pain tolerance is a sight to behold....
  5. Alas we need about 6 more to go ahead! I'll do some scouting in the morning ;)
  6. We had Petunia's done when she was desexed so I've no idea re cost. If he's managing it now good for him, you mentioned it which may be about all you can do at this point. Don't want to push too hard I guess... Hope it doesn't get any worse, perhaps you've given him food for thought.
  7. Might be worth a chat with a behaviourist there. I wouldn't feel comfortable offering any advise as frankly I've never had to deal with that! Poor pup. Sounds like you have it under control now but a quick phone call to make sure there's nothing else you've missed can't hurt!
  8. HANKODIE. HAHAHA. EVERY TIME YOU CRACK ME UP. I have lost count of these incidences. I've also thought Gus would drown before when 'retrieving' me old bottles from the bottom of the creek. He stays under for far too.long and comes up spluttering and grinning.
  9. OHHH YAY!!!!!! Whippytails.I'm thrilled for you, its been such a wait! Is she lovely?!
  10. I sent a few emails off the other day to the presidents of other states etc, asking what sort of commitment it would take to start it here and feeling out to see if anything might be in the works already. I also emailed DogsVic to query whether they would support it and how insurance could work, even as a fun day to raise awareness for something bigger, surely perhaps like Kepala would get on board? IDK. Was a bit of a flight of fancy moment. Either way I got two emails back, one offering me another contact who might be of more help and the other fairly generic. Even if the info helps someone more organised than me, it can't hurt? I'll keep plugging away and see if I end up anywhere. Haha.
  11. Mums dog had it when she was young. For her it was just a single stitch to pull it back into place.
  12. Even a chi would be living a stressed sad life. A chi may not do as much damage but would still be a liability.
  13. I can see how it would be hard, but she seems in such blissful and scary denial about it all.
  14. RE A kennel, if you have good undercover decking for her to get out of the sun you might find she won't use one. Get a cheap one to start with is my advice. We bought two lovely wood ones and lo and behold the only use for them is Rosie climbing on top to look in the window or see over the back fence.
  15. Absolutely, Terri! Its the werribee obedience club. Pm me if you like! Will have more info after 8. Haha.
  16. You will know where she's pooped now. Leave it too long and it might just germinate....hahaha.
  17. Hmm. It might not start itself, I wonder what it would take to run the odd informal fun/training day. I'd put my hand up to help!
  18. PS aware this thread is as old as time but beats starting a new one!
  19. Hi all! Is there anything in Melbourne yet,? I'd love to give Gus a shot but alas! Anyone hold any informal get togethers or anything? Just looks so cool"
  20. How fabulous! I've been watching g the thread too. Such good news! Fingers crossed all grow well!
  21. No advice but plenty of sympathy. Your life is being run by this dog and that must be rough. I can see why he's hard to like. I have to say for me he would be too much of a liability. In a dog so young there's a lot of years of management there. Keep us all posted. You must be exhausted.
  22. We enrolled at our new chosen obedience club, after the last one turned out to be all about choker chains and archaic thinking, we've found one we like and are really happy with. We went to the induction day yesterday, which is sans dogs, basically a really solid brief for us people on what we can hope to achieve, what the options from there on in are and how they run. All well and good, but we were 10 mins late cause Gus ate his vaccination cert.... I kid you not.... We had to stop at the vet for a reprint and an old guy was in to take his little old JR to be put down and he was buying the urn over the counter and I was struggling not to have a sook. All good though, we got there with not too much time lost and enrolled both dogs, and Brooke and I are going to compete for who can get a higher level quicker. He has the smart one, but she's less biddable and quite nervous. I have the super biddable one who's maybe a little less sharp but solid as a rock (Gus, duh!) so we figure we're on a pretty even field there. First intro class is Monday night. Wish us luck!
  23. Wow. That's bad! Hope they were suitably apologetic! Lots of ice and a wine for you tonight !
