  1. Staff that know dogs. We have a few kennels around here, one they have everything you want, full time staff, play time, dogs running together, air con, heating blah blah blah You couldnt pay me to use them There is another out the other side of town, no where near as flash, and they know dogs. Had no issues when i asked about Atlas and Kaos, both problem dogs, nothing was too hard and they suggesting things i was going to suggest before i said it. Hands down, this is the palce i will be leaving my dog at if needed. I rather a run down kennel with people who know their stuff over a kennel that looks amazing and is staffed by people who have no idea
  2. Love your suggestion Sway - even a shirt or the like with "in training, please don't approach unless invited" would be a start. T. I had one that said "please keep me space" i still had people coming over asking me what it meant!
  3. I like it But saw a comment in regards to if you had it and something happened and another dog got hurt, would you be in trouble because by using the yellow ribbon, you are admiring you have the problem dog...?
  4. juice as if i would get an ugly white bully! Has to be a coloured! Im tossing up between the Bully, a Rottie, French Bulldog and British Bulldog. I know, different breeds, i have had experience with the Brits. KNow a lady who has a litter of Frenchies due next year and also know a wonderful Rottie breeder whos dogs i LOVE (have known her and her dogs for 9 years) who will be having a litter in 18 months - 2 years.
  5. yeah, but that comment is made to someone who was almost in tears when the ultrasound only showed one baby :o I would kill to have twins!
  6. i know what the right thing to do is *sigh*
  7. i wont foster. Kaos has issues with other dogs, and it wouldnt be fair on her to bring them in and out, if she was ok then i would 100% look into it I also have my 11 year old cat bella to think of, she is having a few issues since i lost Atlas, i would hate for her to get attached to another dog, and have it leave.
  8. if it came down to it, yes i could hand a dog back. It would be hard, but i would do anything for my dogs and if that was the right thing to do. But if i did get a dog, i dont want to walk into it all thinking "oh, its ok, if it doesnt work out i will just give it back" - to me that is a bad way to look at it and i wont allow myself to. Family and friends are good, i have a lot of support so no issues with that. This litter isnt overly important to me (horrible to say hey?) i dont want to breed or show, just that i fell in love with this dog years ago and always wanted a pup, never thought the chance would happen! If it doenst work out, i know there are other dogs just as good. I have also juggled the one dog at a time thing, Kaos and atlas didnt do well out and about together, so i only took one at a time anyways, the other learned to stay home alone for that time. I want to get another dog because two works for me, i miss Atlas, but it isnt because of that that i want another one.
  9. thanks everyone :) Thats another issue. Kaos is so easy, she knows when she is inside and kids are here to sit on her bed, but is just as happy sitting in the back yard in the sun. As for walking and training, as long as she is with me she would be happy to do neither, and if she does need to go out a trip in the car is just as good as a walk for her. I know she will be great with a baby (i was actually worried about Atlas, i wonder if him passing away was because of someone/thing knowing that he wouldnt cope and it was the best thing..? ) but then i think as above. If things dont go well and kaos is chucked to the side and backyard while we get settled, at least she would have a friend. ( as much as i dont want this to happen, I do know and understand things dont always go to plan) Damn this  Think i might have to go with my head over this one, there will always be puppies around and i think i would rather regret not getting one, over regretting getting one
  10. thanks Clyde... i have been talking to a lot of new mums (friends) who have babies, one has a puppy and said no dont do it... but the others have all said how bored they are at home when bubs is sleeping. We will be looking at having another baby probably 12-18 months after our first. Damn, can i borrow someones new born for a few weeks, see if i really can do it before making my mind up?
  11. I actually do think i could cope. Just not sure if i should... thats where im getting myself confused
  12. havent been on to look at what they have, but petbarn has an online store now :) http://www.petbarn.com.au/
  13. think you will find its a comp, the dogs are used to it and as if they would use toxic colours on them  im sure thoese dogs in those photos get more attention than a lot of dogs around... including my own! My SBT would love to have someone spend so much time on her
  14. and this bull terrier litter is one i have been waiting for forever. I contacted the breeder ages ago saying i was very interested if they ever used this dog to get a puppy. Damn timing
  15. see i know that... but i still want a puppy
  16. im waiting forthe "but i got a puppy when i was pregnant and had another dog with issues and it worked fine!" Stories to come out now
  17. Both mine. Atlas loves males, but its me he comes to first. He would go up for a cuddle with OH, than run back to me in a heartbeat I used to think Kaos liked everyone else over me, but found it not to be true. If i am in the room she will talk to everyone, the second i walk out of the room. she sits at the door i went out of and cries till i come back, says hello and then goes back to the other people She also never listens to OH I have him doing some training and its getting better, but if he tells her off she comes running in to me to dob on him, pissed him off
  18. All i can think about at the moment is getting a Puppy There is a Bull Terrier litter on the ground I would love to own a puppy from... but then i think im not sure i am ready for another Bully and should go another breed... but then what breed? on top of that, baby due in Feb, and with luck, a new house by at least the middle of next year, as much as I love dogs, I think it is the wrong time to get one and would rather wait till next year... if it goes well thats great, if Kaos does not like new puppy it will take some time to get them friends and ok living together. I am not ready to do that right now and rather wait till next year to be sure. Someone just come and tell me right now that I am stupid and that only an idiot would be thinking of getting a puppy now, and how much i will regret it... because as much as i tell myself that... i still really want one :o
  19. i wouldnt take it One its too old for me. I took kaos at 4 months of age, the damage already done to her was there for life (note, the breeder was great, but she didnt get out with other dogs and now has fear aggression towards them) you also have your heart set on a boy, so keep looking and get a boy - I agree, i like boys better :) but i will always have one of each :)
  20. We had a cattle dog and a SBTwhen i was growing up,they got alonggreat :)
  21. i always said i would only have a SBT and a Bull Terrier. We are talking about getting another dog towards the end of next year, im looking at a Frenchie, Brit Bulldog or a Rottie.... not sure who would fit in better so i have a lot of research to do. Im in love with the bullys but dont think i am set up enough to have a dog that can have issues with the heat... and who knows, another breed may jump on my list! I know a Rottie breeder in town and LOVE her dogs, she wont be breeding for at least 18 months and if i get a Rottie, its going to be from her.
  22. I love it! Some people are talented... i would have gotten the shits and walked off in no time!
  23. 2. Maybe 3 if one was really old. 2 for cats as well, I love my guys but 4 is too many
  24. I also have had an older dog and a puppy and no issues We are thinking of getting another dog in the middle/end of next year. Kaos will be 9. Im looking at a Rottie, French Bulldog or British Bulldog, still have a lot to learn as I have only owned the British Bulldog before. My choice will come down more to the prefect puppy over the perfect breed... Kaos is fear aggressive against dogs and i want a pretty laid back dog. So if the right breed comes along with the wrong dog, i wont be taking a puppy.
  25. My biggest thing was not to spoil Kaos after I lost Atlas. I changed nothing and it was harder on me than her. I did have her in my bed one night, and she was shocking the next when she expected it again. I have actually been harder on her since he has gone, but think if I wasn't and if I babyed her she will end up being a huge problem Funny enough, it's the cat who is having the big issues with him not being here Good luck
