  1. In the middle of PND I would have happily have given my son up. I'm very dog savvy, and always said I would do anything for my pets, but nothing can mess your life up like a nice case of PND and a baby who doesn't sleep. It's one of those things that until you have been there you really can't understand (trust me, I didn't understand either till I had a child)
  2. I can 100% see why people give their dogs away when a baby comes into their lives.
  3. I use a screen door here, means the cats and dog can't get in. Since moving its done off the 2 year olds room but will be going on the babies room. Cats are locked up at night but kaos has run of the house. Once 2 year old is in a real bed I'll have to rethink it as I know the dog will want to hop in. I love my pets, I would never trust them with a child
  4. Spook will be getting her wings on Wednesday
  5. You can have your dogs at the Orange showground. Not sure how good the accommodation is though...
  6. OP. Just be careful with giving the dog water or food. I've heard cases where a neighbour has done that and the rspca have come back saying that the pet has water (even though someone else put it there) and didn't take any action. It's a hard place to be!
  7. Vet check up today, the lump around her neck has had no change and they are worried it will impact on her breathing. At this stage the vet is ok to keep her being treated but has told mum what to look for of it goes bad She is a bit happier and eating, so that's a good sign. Just arranged pets at peace though
  8. Plenty of people do do it. I've been pet sitting for 11 years, and it's often a recommended thing here when people ask for ideas to care for their pets while they are away, now suddenly it's a bad thing to leave your dog alone. Once again, I would love to know how OP went with reporting it.
  9. Lol yep. Horrible, traumatic, I'm a disgusting owner. My other option was to bring her to the new house and leave her in the yard with no shelter at all.... I'm sure she would rather that over a yard she knows with a nice warm bed . Hope the OP has an answer on what's going on by now
  10. It's a hard one. I just moved house and the dog and cats stayed at the old house for a week. I went over either very early or late to check on them, anyone watching would have thought no one was over there. Hope it's the same issues here and they haven't dumped the dog
  11. My 11 year old still sleeps in her crate :)
  12. She went ok. Mum was happy to keep her at home and knows she can bring her over here at anytime and I'll look after her.
  13. I've been pet sitting and dog walking for 11 years. The only time it's ever been enough to cover all my living expenses has been at Christmas time, the rest of the time it's busy but not enough to live off
  14. Argh now mum is calling me worried because spook is panting a lot. I said she is probably just hot. Take her outside and ring the vets if she is still worried. I will call in an hour and if mum is still worried I'll see if she can bring spook here and take kaos home ( the two hate each other) and I'll keep an eye on her for them.
  15. She is crate trained but needs to wee and can't hold on. Mum had a chat to the vet and she started the meds today, vet told mum not to give up yet, to give her 2 weeks and see how she is (my vet is great, will tell it as it is and will tell you if she believes pts is the best option) Dad is telling mum to pts and it's not helping, she asked me again if she was doing the right thing. I told mum the second I believe it needs to be done I will tell her.
  16. Parents aren't good. At this stage they are up every 2 hours or she pees everywhere. They are worried the meds will make it worse. Spook also hates winter. They are now wondering if it's nicer to let her go now over having to make her go out in the horrible weather when they aren't around to take her in and out. (my parents are also not well at all) Mum just called me in tears asking me to tell her what to do. If it gets worse it is going to take a huge toll on mum and dad, they are having issues caring for her now without any extra problems that arise. I told them she is their dog and no one will judge if the decide to let her go sooner rather than later and would she rather know she went while she was happy(ish) or would they regret it if she gets worse. I've also told them to ring the vet tomorrow and see what she has to say to them. Sorry as for the swelling, we were told the lumps may go down once meds are start, that them showing up again mean it no longer is working.
  17. We had one regular who started showing 15 mins late... the first 2 times was ok.. then it was 30 mins and so on. We always had 2 staff on site, so if he was going to be late he got charged 2 x what an hour of pay would be, if they wanted any longer it got higher... it was actually cheaper for them to pick the dog up the next day... but they still did it! Now i work in retail the same customer used to come in and try the same thing! show up at 5 mins to close, hang around 30 mins to an hour and leave... I asked them what time they finished their work and they said 4pm.. they just rather shop as late as possible to avoid annoying customers.... I told them the next time that we had gone to Auto alarms for the shop, that at 15 mins past the hour they turned on themselves and would couldnt stop it, he now shops in normal business hours and has never tried it again!
  18. Can I ask. Those who went steroids, did your dog have many negative issues because of them ?
  19. Thanks guys She is pretty crook so i cant see us getting to the end of the year with her... but who knows? Maybe she will surprise us all! She is only eating sausages at the moment, mum worried about it and i said it cant cause much more damage and while she is happy eating something, to stick with it for now. Once the tablets have started working we will keep an eye out for her going downhill again, the second the swelling starts we are going to PTS - while she is happy and not in pain and is herself. while we may get a bit more time out of her... none of us want to see her get worse and suffer.
  20. I have hours for pet sitting. I get people who want me to pop over at 10 pm because it's when their dog gets fed or 5am... If they don't like my hours they can find someone else.
  21. Thanks. Bring up isn't an issue, mum and dad both have medical issues and neither sleep well anyways!
  22. She has 3 months left if lucky. starts steroids Thursday (she had a biopsy and we have been told they can stop the healing process so they want the wound to be ok first) Chemo is just too pricy and no guarantee she would get more than 6 months. We keep her comfy and the second she gets worse she will be pts
  23. My parents 9 year old bulldog Spook has just been confirmed to have high grade lymphoma and liver cancer. We have an appointment in an hour to talk about treatment options, the weekend to think about it and any treatment to start Tuesday. our options are chemo, steroids or nothing. Just wondering what people's experiences are with the above? We have been told we might get 12 months out of her at best if we go chemo and the other options are unknown. Thanks
