  1. whilst on news.com.au they've also put up this article http://www.kidspot.com.au/myspot-life-best-five-dog-breeds-for-families+3173+172+article.htm and proudly proclaimed on a list of best dog breeds for families Number two family breed: Cavoodle also love how they have finally linked the genes that produce colour in labs to their attention spans sad that being linked on a sydicated news site will result in better google hits if people are looking for good family dogs.
  2. Best in Show (2000) Stefan Vanderhoof: [discussing the calendar] We're not gonna sell, just give it out to friends. Scott Donlan: I think we should try to sell it. Stefan Vanderhoof: Really? Scott Donlan: Yeah. Stefan Vanderhoof: Well, if we could give the money to Shih Tzu rescue. Scott Donlan: They have plenty of money. Stefan Vanderhoof: Well so do we. Scott Donlan: What Shih Tzus need rescuing anyway? You don't see Shih Tzus straggling around the streets in an old coat "help, alms for the poor". Stefan Vanderhoof: Like the little match girl.
  3. I get mine from http://www.dogtreatsaustralia.com/ 1st one I got has lasted the lab 4 months and gets chewed daily, she's barely making inroads. Got another one last week and she managed to break it up and devour it in a few hours being a natural product there's room for large amounts of variation in the product. Im preferring them over nylabone
  4. unlicenced breeder would be a better term than backyard breeder with licenced breeders complying with mandatory microchipping and being a registered breeder with their local council and/or ankc. one standard registry for microchips nation wide would also be great - with the breeders details and whoever the animal is transfered to remaining permanantly on this register. then dogs shelters would be able to work out exactly where all the dogs are coming from with breeders who have a higher represenation of "dumped dogs" or in fact "dumping" dogs having legal repercussions. onus on person transferring a dog to another person to ensure the register is updated with the new owners details then there just neds to be more public awareness of only buying from licenced breeders
  5. hey ziggy, my comment wasn't to judge kirkland,I wasnt even looking at the posts on kirkland, so was more a reminder to compare how many days worth of food the OP gets from a bag rather than just cost per kg of food.
  6. canidae has a 20kg bag for $100. 20kg should last an adult lab with moderate excercise 80 days. with working out costs on dry dog food it's good to look at how much of the food you have to feed a day, some of the cheaper ones you may end up feeding 4-6 cups a day vs 2-3 cups for food with less fillers
  7. https://www.worldforpets.com.au/products/10910 I have a lab pup that loves to chew anything left in her area. She also prefers her water splashed around. We currently have a ceramic water bowl and keeping small amounts of water in it but saw the torus bowl Question is, does anyone know if its chew proof?
  8. Have you crate trained at all? Our pup is 12 weeks old and after 10 mins of sniffing an no toilet when we're sure she needs to go, we bring her back I and straight into the crate for 10 minutes or until she makes the 'need to go toilet' bark. Then we try outside again
  9. I can't offer any assistance on the issues but nice name for the pup, even if it seems ironic for the present time. (We named ours girl river and if we get a male dog in the future will call him Jayne)
