  1. i love bold lead designs (especially their take on a no pull leash infinity leash )
  2. It was the poor transgender woman who was killed who was breeding dogs, not the the awful man who murdered her. The quote was from the girl's mother who still refers to her as a son. But even if it was the murderer who was breeding the dogs I hardly see how that is at all relevant to BYB and puppy farmers needing tougher regulation nor in anyway a sufficient argument to 'rest your case'. Sex work is a legitimate occupation, your moral objections to it does not necessarily equate to somebody being incapable of caring for animals. I don't really think there's enough information on this poor woman's breeding practices for you to use her as an example and I think she's suffered enough without needing to be further vilified, perhaps use one of your other hundreds of other examples instead.
  3. unsure if he's detecting the gluten in the cake or the fire on the candles!
  4. my tips would be for websites, if you have enough knowledge to DIY go with something with shopping cart modules like wordpress or joomla-my current preference is wordpress but everyone is different, or if you dont have enough knowledge but have some cash, pay for a business to set up a site for you that you can then manage. Make sure it has an easy shopping cart module. Managing a set up wordpress site is very much like posting to facebook these days. get your branding done 1st, and ensure the same branding is on website, facebook page, set up an ebay shop so people can find your stuff on ebay as well.- selling on ebay gives you access to http://shop.auspost.com.au/pack-post/flat-rate-satchels/ebay-flat-rate-satchels - cheap postage. Make sure an easy to type and remember domain name is available for your business name, check http://au.godaddy.com/ to make sure your name is available. if you are going under your previous abn, and just 'trading as' check http://www.abr.business.gov.au/ to make sure there's no other business running with your name. google the business name you want to make sure theres not another business with that name already established- you dont want to be giving them free publicity.

  6. my name is sunny... now i wish it was Sonny so i would have one for my birthday too
  7. Flansburgh is a much better name than John! and yes we had our next breed picked out when our pup was 6 months old, she's 1.5 now and we're still planning the new dog for another 6-12 months time. Tentative name was picked out ages ago too
  8. sad for poor pup. They live to be with people (actually what dog doesn't want to be part of some pack) http://www.rspcapuppyguide.com.au/ doesnt get enough reading (and at least it acknowledges some people want planned for dogs not just other peoples mistakes) I hope the labs breeder is keeping in touch with the owners and is hinting that it's ok to return a pup if it's not working out.
  9. it depends on the antler itself as well. Some are harder than others. our lab still has the 1st one we got her, but demolished several we've bought since ETA we just discovered cows hooves - also awesome but smell like cows arse when actively being chewed-dog loves it, but dog likes to share with humans and its not so nice
  10. oddly enough I feel the same about parents and untrained children wreckit!
  11. we have a nice cafe that is dog friendly we to for coffees or lunch. waiter brings a water bowl out when he notices the dog, though we get the comment 'sorry didnt notice you had a dog' a bit. Our girl sits nice and quiet (though we do go for coffee after a big run)we tend to sit out of the way and she sits and watches the people or snoozes. we think she's doing well for a 1yr old
  12. our lab swims in a creek everyday. we dry her off before she gets in the car and then use a peppermint/eucalyptus on her, and dry that in using a fresh towel. We dont notice a strong doggy smell on her, theres also not a strong smell left by that product so she doesnt go the other way and smell overperfumed. she rarely gets real baths. The only smell we notice is the nice cornchip smell when she is sleepy
  13. another tip is to make sure your windows are insulated in the really hot days, prevent heat getting in and cool from getting out a cheap way to do this is to buy some "space blankets" from a camping supplies shop, a pack of 4 is usually <$10. the space blankets are really large, one should cover a window, they are thin like cellophane so easy to tape against the inside of your windows. They are also a little bit see through so the house wont be in total darkness
  14. spoilt dog was in the lounge room with the aircon on, and grizzling at my partner who was in the bedroom reading with the door open. Took a while to realise spoilt dog was complaining that the aircon in the bedroom was not on and she wanted to be on the bed in the same room with the aircon on in that room. (the lounge aircon is enough to cool bedroom enough for humans, but apparently not for spoilt dogs) bedroom air con was turned on
  15. Warrnambool people are there any nice cafés around with outside tables that are dog friendly? Down this way for te holidays and there's nothing on pawclub for warrnambool.
  16. is our set up, the play pen is anchored to the crate with carabiner hooks. its also anchored to bookshelves with another carabiner hook. Thankfully ours has never thought about trying to jump over. She did lean on the sides when people came around which pushed them down, but playing a game of 'no treat if your feet are touching the pen' for a few minutes each day works wonders. while teething she didnt get a real bed as she would rip pieces of material off the bed and destuffing it. she's only recently graduated from an old blanket back to a real dog bed(covered in a polar fleece fora first line of defense) The old saying of a tired dog is a good dog is true, but we found it really hard to tire ours out when a puppy as we were very strict about not doing too much running and no jumping to minimise impact on joints while she was growing. we ended up finding a dog pool and taking her swimming every few days when we needed a good rest. ETA: everytime i see this post I think what a cute and prophetic name Mayhem (May for short or maybe Mr Mayhem for the SOA fans) would be for a pup.
  17. Just posting to offer some lab puppy love our lab pup ripper..er i mean River is now 1, we hadnt realised how much of a "all the things in my mouth" labs were. The good new is for Riv this has meant she loves toys and food. 1 year on and we still have 1/2 our lounge as a dedicated puppy pen with her crate in there and if we leave the house she goes in there. Teething was the worst time, Riv loves ice though so just having ice cubes to soothe her gums worked wonders /hugs for you and your pup ps she is best dog i've ever had
  18. in a kiwi accent: Stop trying to make Fitch heppen! +1 for Faust and Finn !
  19. as someone who had a rude pup I am grateful if someone has an older dog that is well versed in dog etiquette to tell my pup what is and isn't on. I've never reacted to it and my girl takes it as it's meant. No need to over the top or the poor pup will start thinking they should get defensive towards dogs that politely tell them off.
