  1. So, Tyrion has been having a problem with dry flaky skin, at first I thought it was related to fleas - but he has been flea free for about a month now and now he is loosing pathes of fur, I took him to the vet thinking he may have had mange. But, apparently its not - the vet seems to think its an allergic reaction to something which has now caused a secondary skin infection. He has two lots of medication and a medicated shampoo and will need bathing twice a week for three weeks. He also is not gaining weight. Despite a cup of Blackhawk, 100 grms of beef mince and a couple of chicken necks a day, which I thought would have been ample food for a Corgi. The vet has said over the next month while we are treating his skin condition to stop measuring out feeding and feed as much as he wants to eat (keeping an eye on weight of course) and that if he still hasn't gained when I go back we'll start looking for underlying health issues. Argh!
  2. I noticed the other day when I brushed Tyrion out that he has terribly dry flaky skin. At first I thought it might be flea related as he had fleas last month and I gave him comfortis which cleared the fleas up but not his coat or skin issues. I gave him a bath in oatmeal shampoo. Its been two weeks since I washed him but his skin is still quite dry and flaky so im beginning to think it is his food. I bathe him once every 6-8 weeks so I don't think its from overwashing. From reading one of the other threads on here I've discovered that people very commonly have problems with BLACKHAWK dog food and dry flaky skin. He usually gets a cup of this and beef puppy mince as his daily food. I'm now tempted to change his dry food and was just hoping for suggestions on what to try next?
  3. This is devastating for dogs everywhere. Im so glad my beautiful staffy x is no longer with us to be a potential victim to these laws. I would be way to scared to ever adopt a unpapered bully breed or cross breed with these laws in place.
  4. lol! Happy to answer, it was my daughters 1st birthday party on the weekend, and also the local agri show was on! I've been making decorated novelty cakes for a while now so I decided to enter a cake into the show for the first time ever(which I got first, and also most outstanding exhibit overall :D) so we had an overabundance of cake for few of us that were actually here lol. The cake he got was the very last couple of slices of the left over birthday cake which had gone stale from sitting on the bench after we were all caked out. lol
  5. I think so!! Cheeky puppy. Im sure he did enjoy it lol
  6. Thanks! He is fine this morning, no ill side-affects that I can tell. Just stools are a bit loose but I did expect that.
  7. So, I just caught Tyrion going through my bin and found him eating some chocolate mudcake! I know chocolate is poison to dogs so what do I do? What signs do I look out for etc?
  8. This is Tyrion's Grand-daddy had to post a pic cause he is just adorable! http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=8968 And this is his Daddy: http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=58305 There are no pics of his Mum that I can find online. And I can't find his papers right now to get her name.
  9. Gah come home to find Tyrion has had a bout of the runs inside while I've been out. Which means someone has fed him something he shouldn't be eating. Grrr. Also, what do you guys do to keep your dogs fur nice? Tyrions isn't very nice at the moment. I wash him monthly but his current shampoo isn't doing a great job, what would you guys suggest I try?
  10. Hey everyone! Haven't popped in in a while! Looks like everyone's dogs are doing great! Tyrion is now 7kgs and 6 months so about half of what he should weigh fully grown. Anyone know if this is an ok weight? My inlaws keep crapping on about how "skinny" and "underweight" he is. (im fairly sure he isn't. I googled it and he is within perfect weight range). It just shits me cause they want to feed him more when they're here, their dogs are so overweight but they see nothing wrong with it. All they keep saying "oh but you can feel his ribs"... im like "but your MEANT to." grr
  11. In the event of the divorce. I get the dog. OH didn't want the dog he only said yes cause I really wanted him so that's a no brainer. The old cat - Abbey would probably go with OH. I love her, but im in all honesty not a cat person, and she is more attached to him anyway. I'm also mildy allergic to cats so while I would miss her I know she'd be better off with him. Weasley is my sons cat - and given I would most likely have the kids most of the time since I don't work and OH does Weasley would go with wherever our eldest son was living. Buuut don't really have to think about it much, not planning on getting divorced anytime soon. lol
  12. Grew up with Corgi's, and just got my first as an adult. Will never change. :D

  14. Oh Lollipup, Envy is just beautiful! At the obedience trial the other day I saw a lady with a Mal puppy! I got so excited cause I recognised the breed cause of all your photos of Envy. He was so lovely and I got to give him lots of pats. :D
  15. Oh oh when/where is it?! :D If I get a chance I'll have to pop up and have a look!
  16. Some Koolies are very finely built, she looks Koolie to me :) I don't know a lot about Koolies, I've always admired them from afar, they seem like lovely dogs! Any handy hints, Kavik? :p We're much more active already! Hahaha. Being working dogs like Kelpies, they are active and smart, and very trainable. You will have lots of fun :) I like trick training to keep them busy, and also a lot of tricks are actually very useful for agility as well. Agility for sure! Koolies are buckets of fun, my parents had one for many years when I was growing up and she was an awesome dog. Fantastic worker, and a great family dog too. There is one in our puppy class at dog school as well and she is just lovely. Very very active!
  17. What breeds do her papers say? Im goin' out on a limb and sayin theres some Koolie in there somewhere.
