  1. While we're waiting for photos of Stephs new addition. Here are some recent pics of Tyrion.
  2. Oh some people are so stupid! Some people get Tyrion's breed straight away or they ask what he is. I often get the response of "I've never seen a corgi with a tail before." By far the stupidest comment I've had regarding Tyrion is "Is that a Husky cross?" "No. He's a purebred pembroke corgi." "REALLY!?! Wow. He looks like a husky." .... Um no he doesn't crazy lady. :S
  3. I much prefer Sansa in the books than the TV series so far. Even though she isn't overly strong yet. (im only up to the second book lol). Tyrion is my fav character. I adore him, even if he dies horribly (which given the fashion of GoT is likely at some point), i'll still like him lol.
  4. Hey Zereulah A little birdy *cough*LisaCC*cough* tells me our pups have the same birthday :D Whats an ultra weird coincidence... your guy is called Tyrion... by little poppet is called Sansa  Hello! Yes, he's a may 6th puppy! AND Tyrion, a pembroke corgi (dwarf dog) so a Dwarf name was only fitting! :D
  5. My enquiries say no......................nearest for starters might be Diggers out Sunbury way................they have a website................most of us travel for lessons Thank you. Will have look.
  6. Is there anywhere close to Ballarat that teaches Herding?
  7. This weekend there is an obedience and rally-o trial at my local dog club, so i'm going to just lend a hand with everything! So excited can't wait. :D
  8. I've been keeping updated on everyones puppies and its good to see they're all doing so well! I haven't had a chance to post much later as life has been incredibly hectic with puppy and kids etc. Anyway, I woke up this morning to find both of Tyrions ears upright! (one is down again at the moment but I think its due to teething). Anyway he looks so ridiculous so here is some pics! hes so funny.
  9. yes a barking bullmastiff can be perceived as a threat. However, your a stranger, coming onto his property ALOT of dogs, regardless of size are going to do this. Secondly the article said the dog was shot in the back of the neck which would make me question wether or not the dog was actually moving TOWARD the officer like they claimed. Def hope there is an investigation into this. So awful.
  10. http://www.thecourier.com.au/story/1749179/police-shoot-and-kill-dog-at-wendouree-home/?cs=61 WENDOUREE residents are outraged today after the shooting of a pet Bullmastiff dog by police at a house in Willow Grove. Police said two members attended a Wendouree West property at 8.55am this morning to make inquiries in regards to an investigation. WARNING: This story contains photos readers may find distressing Ballarat North Sergeant Nathan Gardiner said the members went through the front gate and were half way up the Willow Grove driveway when the dog allegedly ran out the front door in a "threatening manner". "A police member was forced to take protective action and fire one shot," Sergeant Gardiner said. "The member was fearful of being attacked. "Police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances in accordance with Victoria police policy and reasonable force provisions." Sergeant Gardiner said that offers were made to move the dog's body out of sight, but were declined. A blood stain indicates the dog was halfway down the driveway when it was shot. The dog's body has been viewed by The Courier and the bullet entered the back of its neck. Jessica Williams, who lives across the road, was walking out of her front door to take her young children to school about 8.58am when the shooting occurred. "I saw the coppers walk up and the dog hadn't even left the yard," Ms Williams said. "They didn't say 'put the dog away' or anything. We just heard a bang and then we saw the dog just lying on the ground." Owner Caroline Elliott has mental health issues and said she was dependent on six-year-old Bruiser's company. "I got nothing now, he was everything to me," a teary Ms Elliott said. "I can't understand, in the whole time he has been here he has never bitten anyone. They shot him in my own driveway." Renee Fraser, who is the partner of Mrs Elliott's son Craig, said Bruiser was registered and had never been aggressive in the past. "It's wrong. They just shot him," Ms Fraser said. Mrs Elliot's daughter Nyleakah said she and her father, who has recently had a heart attack, were left to move Bruiser from the driveway to the front garden and cover him with a blanket to avoid further upset to her mother and children in the house. "Everyone in this street knows our dog. That's got to say something," Ms Elliot said, pointing to the crowd who had gathered outside their house to mourn Bruiser. "He was so docile. There was no reason to kill him." Ms Elliot held grave concerns for her mother's welfare. "When my mum feels like killing herself, Bruiser isn't going to be there for her." When police returned to the house, both Ms Fraser and Ms Elliott demanded answers as to why Bruiser had been shot. When police said Bruiser had attacked a member, Ms Fraser said: "You can protect them but we've got a dead dog." Ms Elliott said her father had asked police why Bruiser had been shot and was told: "It scared me." "Bruiser had to have been turned away to be shot like that and when I felt his body, he wasn't tense at all," Ms Elliott. "He's never attacked anyone. He'd lick you to death first. "He growls and barks and that but that's all he would do." Ballarat City Council said there was no record of complaints or incidents filed against Bruiser.
  11. will he come back to your leg when you have treats? At dog school we reward them. ANYTIME they come to our left hand side. This way, being on the left side close to my leg, is a very rewarding place to be. Have you tried a martingale collar? or a halti? for walking? That should stop him from choking himself.

    Dew Claws

If you care to actually read the thread above, I'm not talking about front dew claws, i'm talking about REAR dew claws, which are a different case entirely.
  13. lol no tips here, but i'm already thinking about how we're going to manage family trips to Albury with three kids and the dog! And we have a Kia Carnival! lol
  14. no animals on furniture here either! We have a black couch the pet hair shows up so easily. Im also allergic to the cats, and my husband is unimpressed that the dog lives inside. lol convincing him to allow Tyrion onto the couch would be fruitless (it took me ages to convince him to get a dog in the first place!)

    Dew Claws

There are reasons to keep dew claws. See recent thread in the General discussion. http://www.dolforums...move-dew-claws/ Although dew claws may get torn, front dew claws are an integral part of the leg. Removing them may make your dog less able to manipulate things with its front paws and may destabilize gait in ways that produce arthritis. Dew claw removal is getting less popular in some agility circles. See http://www.caninespo...explanation.pdf Thank you. But my enquiry was regarding rear dew claws only. We've made the decision to have rear dew claws removed on advice of our breeder and our vet.
  16. Didn't you know? Leaves are THE BEST THING EVER! Tyrion LOVES leaves! And chunks of dirt. lol
  17. Excellent I wondered about the teething thing! I'll have to go buy him a new toy me thinks :)
  18. Can I just ask how do you get your dogs to tug? Tyrion use to tug, but I've tried to start up a game of tug over the last couple of days and he won't? lol hoping hes just going through a phase.
  19. I noticed this too. Elderly dogs which it looks like some were should always have access to water and something soft to lay on. IT actually looks like footage was shot at different times. Some of it looks like its night, and some of it is daytime. Either way, its trespassing, and I tend to agree with the comments on how well groomed ALL those dogs are for neglected animals. I really dislike how these animal rights groups go about things, and have a general lack of understanding for how things actually work. Its like the sheep mulesing argument, they just have no idea!
  20. My 5 mins includes the play before and after - actual training exercises are usually less than a minute Ok cool thanks! :D He is fast asleep at the moment so will try again this afternoon when he is usually wide awake.
  21. My assistance dog needs to be big enough to handle my weight on him sometimes (I can pass out) pull in a harness as sometimes I need help walking. Be obedient enough to pass a public access test which is quite strict and doesn't drool and to be honest I kinda don't like labs, Goldies or poodles (they are lovely dogs just not for me) --Lhok When I was shopping the other day my baby girl was crying and I was greeted by a big poodle head sticking his nose up to see what was going on  his owner said you'll have to excuse him he just LOVES babies and children and just wants to check if she is ok. lol he was the sweetest thing. We got talking and she was saying that he is her assistance dog he helps her to not fall over etc. I don't particularly like poodles either but this fellow was just so sweet and lovely.
