Jagd Terriers look really interesting, and intense! Look like a real hunting dog, not a pet. Depending on what you want, might work. JRT is the other obvious choice, with some research I'm sure you could find one that would be good for hunting still. My old girl Zoe was a good ratter in her prime.

What a difficult situation You should definitely seek out professional help. I agree that if siblings are also exhibiting aggression that there is possibly a genetic component, and being taken away from mum so young wouldn't help.

Stacking Tips For New Players With Learning Dogs
Kavik replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
No idea about showing here but a tip for handling their mouth. Nitro was very resistant to me handling his mouth when I got him, so I used food to help. Touch his mouth, give him a treat, lift his lips up so I can see his teeth, give him a treat, work up to open mouth, give a treat, and for pilling, open mouth, put treat in mouth (like a pill). He is starting to get to the point where he presents his head into my hand lol. -
I get mixed reactions, I've had people scared of my smallest dog who is now 14 years old, people scared of my GSD and bigger Kelpie (more understandable though Diesel really is a big softy and now 10 years old!), and I've also had people want to come over and pat them, including children. Generally I do find that Asians are often scared of dogs, although there is this one asian kid who always comes up to pat the dogs and asks heaps of questions, she wants to get a dog herself so is very keen. She then translates to her mother.

Do you have Susan Garrett's Success With One Jump DVD?

I agree with HW - the more time you spend around a breed, the more you see individual differences. My dogs are all very different, even those of the same breed and colour (and even with colour they are not exactly the same).

Until you get some help I would suggest you stop taking her to dog parks and avoid meeting other dogs. Meeting other dogs makes her uncomfortable. She may never really like it. If you continue, she may become aggressive. You may want to search for: Look at That Click to Calm: Healing the Aggressive Dog These are both methods which use clicker training to help with reactive behaviour, and I have had improvements with my dog aggressive dog using them. Crossing the road and going into driveways are good strategies for giving her the space she needs to remain under threshold while working on this.

Have fun! Tell us how you go with it!

It would be interesting to go see Michael Ellis - he has some interesting ideas and great technique.

Susan Garrett agility seminar - which led to me doing some of her online courses. Great presenter, innovative ideas, short fun games to do with the dogs, troubleshooting.

That is not a good situation with the kids at all! Very dangerous parenting. How high is your fence and what material? I have 6 ft colourbond and two kids - 6 and 2 1/2. There is no way my 6 yr old could climb my fence!
-
Why are the kids coming into your yard? What is so interesting there for them? Jumping the fence uninvited when you have said you don't want them to is not showing respect for others' property. And if you ever want to leave your dog safely in your yard I think you will have to address both the kids coming in and the next door neighbour dog getting in as well. I would be having a serious conversation with all of them. It is not safe for anyone.

That is a tough situation. I think the issue with the neighbours is important to settle for long term happiness of everyone, that is dangerous. The daycare I worked at, and others I have seen, all have more than one area, but I still saw a lot of dogs that were stressed just by being there. Maybe I'm paranoid and a control freak  but I trust my dogs alone in the yard far more than I do in a situation where they are being looked after by people I don't know, surrounded by a lot of dogs that I also don't know, while I am not there.
-
Be careful with the doggy daycare idea. I have worked at a doggy daycare before and personally would not send my dogs to one. My experience with them shows them to be a very stimulating environment which not all dogs enjoy, and there are often a lot of dogs in together, which not all dogs enjoy either. Why do you want him socialised with other dogs and people without you?

Clicker Training Resources?
Kavik replied to FalconRange's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Kikopup on YouTube has a lot of great videos on using clickers, and lots and lots of tricks and behaviours you can train! Have fun :) http://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup I don't start using a clicker the way you described, I use it for shaping new behaviours, not with behaviours the dog already knows on cue. -
Oh's Cousin's Partner Attacked By Rottweiler
Kavik replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks guys, I will keep you updated :) -
My OH's cousin's partner was walking their Staffy X yesterday and the partner was attacked by a Rottweiler that was loose (normally behind a fence). He is in hospital, has had a general anaesthetic and surgery, IV antibiotics, 3 day min stay I have told them to report the dog (apparently dog is normally aggressive behind its fence).

Just looks like passive resistance to me
