  1. It is a terrible thing for a baby or child to be bitten by any dog I would be interested in seeing these statistics you speak of. I am aware of some incidents in the UK but to brand these breeds as being anymore dangerous towards babies seems unwarranted in my opinion. I know the 360 members in my Perth Husky group would be horrified to read of this incident, but would be equally surprised as Huskies are known of being great family dogs but saddened that such generalised comments are made about these breeds. I do agree that no baby should be left unattended with ANY dog. Very sad incident regardless
  2. Oh, what a lovely thread, amazing work Love the pic of Mac and Andy :) :) :)
  3. I feel the same, Westiemum. Although I have a fairly large yard, I'd have to remove all the gardens to give them room enough, because I have created something of a jungle . I think I am too old now and Tigger makes me question all those threads about Greys just wanting to be lounge lizards. That said, there is the most beautiful Malamute cross over the road from me who has been very well brought up and socialised . . . . . . . . . . .I thing in the next 5 to 6 years when all my littlies and oldies have gone to god  , I'll become a foster carer for Greyhounds. I don't have a big yard, but Ronin obviously gets out a fair bit LOL, many Husky owners around the globe have them in apartments so I am not one who says big dogs must have a big yard. Neither does Tigger's owner. She says he is definitely a lounge lizard and will sleep 20 hours our of 24 :D The play sessions with Ronin are big energy burners for him and she laughs how Tig will take himself out to the sun lounge, get comfy and let out a huge sigh and sleep. Apparently he nudges his pjs at 10pm at the latest, signifying it is time for nigh nighs  and will often sleep in :) Ronin on the other hand, will wake up early, and snuffle and snort at the crack under my door until I get up, once he has achieved his goal of destroying any hope of a sleep in, he then goes to sleep for a few hours, happy in himself that got dad out of bed! One of friends has a husky that will sleep in till 10 most mornings - such a funny boy. Those would be some lucky greys to have you and DD as foster mums But imagine the there will be a few that will become family
  4. Aww, thanks Westiemum :) I am so glad that you are still enjoying the vids
  5. They'd have to get a Ronin too. Looking forward to seeing those pics. Aw gawd, I can't imagine my elderly parents with their own Husky  A 4 or 5 year old grey would probably be perfect and Ronin will be able to visit frequently :) Beauty is a hard one to get an action shot of as she will be standing or laying down for ages and then she will spring up like she has been zapped on the coit and do her crazy rear and bolt
  6. Thanks Hazy :) Greys certainly have a great style when shaking and digging. I have to try and get some footage of Beauty who is an 8 year old grey, that has started to really get a new lease on life by hanging around with Ronin and Tigger - she 'pops a wheelie' with her front legs when she starts a run, she looks like a horse rearing up and then off she goes LOL
  7. Hahaha - I remember that quote now but it wouldn't have clicked if you hadn't said Bambi :D
  8. Some pics from yesterday's play day - vid is on the previous page for those that missed it. Camouflage Skills = low Likes his photos taken on his good side I'm a little flower :D and a little one of my mate Tigger - Dat hound is one cool cat
  9. I met two Leonbergers at the park the other day, such big, beautiful and gentle dogs
  10. Oh that is so true for me too. They are so in tune with each other and you are dead right about them having a sense of humour, Yonjuro. Did you notice early in the vid how Ronin was waiting just out from behind the shed for Tigger to start chasing him. Just lovely ..... and the SIZE of the yard. Brilliant for big dogs who love to play. Thanks DDD :) :) They were playing like this for about an hour and a half but I was so engrossed with watching them that I completely forgot to take out the camera till about midway LOL They would lay down near each other to have a rest and one would get up and sneak around the back of the other and pounce :D The backyard is at my parents place which is pretty close. The normal dog park hasn't been as much fun for them of late, too many wanting to join in their games and it just becomes less fun for all of us as most don't have the same control when playing their robust style. So we are using mum and dads on occasion so they can get some time together without other distractions. ... and still trying to get them to adopt a greyhound :D
  11. Thanks Dave-o, its By Ennio Morricone from an old spaghetti western staring Terence Hill and Henry Fonda called My Name is Nobody Thanks RSA :) - they do know how to have fun :) Thanks TT :) , anyone who thinks dogs don't have a sense of humour is missing out
  12. Well, it's been a long while in-between movies, but here is the latest adventure of Ronin and Tigger... I hope you enjoy it and please comment :)
  13. Sounds like a green lipped kiss goodnight Sheena
  14. Really interesting thread and one to store in the memory banks - thank you!
  15. Thanks Stressmagnet, great advice much appreciated :)
  16. Thanks for your comments DDD
  17. Thanks Westiemum Thanks Jemmy Thanks Tdierikx, Truly amazing what our four legged friends are capable of. Thanks Stressmagnet, I will let my wife know about your kind offer. Our friend is quite a private person, but it always nice to know there are people able to offer support.
  18. Thanks Pie, She finished her chemo and was given the all clear 3 months ago - after Ronin's sniffing she has been back for routine tests and her levels are rising agin
  19. Thanks TT, unfortunately the news is bad, we don't know how bad yet
  20. My good friend has been batting cancer for the last 12 month and after major surgery and a very long time on Chemo she was given the all clear. During the treatment she had to be very careful of getting scratches etc due low immunity and high risk of infection, so contact with Ronin was avoided to be on the safe side as he LOVES people and get very excited when we have visitors. We were all super happy when her tests came back that the cancer was gone! So last week she finally is able to visit and Ronin was very calm, greeted her very gently and gave her a good thorough sniff which, although not highly unusual - his manner was. He looked at her and just stood by her allowing a nice pat, I thought nothing of it at the time except that he was such a good boy but unusually calm. When we spoke to her this week she was very upset that her levels have started to rise again, and the doctors are quite concerned. We are all upset about this, but I am also amazed that Ronin knew something was wrong, of that I have no doubt whatsoever
  21. Never heard of it, but I am very keen to hear more and hope some can add to the thread :) It doesn't sound like the kind of thing someone would discover by chance so I would imagine the idea must have come to this person from somewhere? Are you able to quiz the person further? Type of pumpkin skin would also be good to know.
