A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their PuppyJackC replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat Hi Lisa, where did you get your martingale collar, koda is about the same at the moment and doesn't pull on the leash too much when walking but he can choke himself when he gets super excited doing zoomies and I really get uncomfortable with it and don't want to be drawing him back with that much pressure on his neck, the martingale style collar looks like a great idea

I don't have any experience on the matter but keep calm and show him that there is nothing to be afraid of, dogs pickup on our own feelings quicker than we even know we are feeling them. if your anxious he will pick that up. if its nice weather maybe get a deck chair and sit out there with a book for a while with a door open so he can see you and know that its all ok

My boy has his own section on my on-line budgeting system, I might start investing in some shares for him as well

Don't worry dory, your not the only one :D  both me and my partner work long hours and with my surgery just been my boy has had a bit of a slack week or two. I try to get at least one 15-20min walk in per day every night, starting to get a second in the morning now I am back to recovery, if I don't get a walk in cause I'm sore or lazy he has the beans in the morning and likes to see how fast he can get from the bedroom to the end of the yard and back two or three times over  training for me is every other day, usually no more than 10min, trying to mix it up and now with more light at night we are doing a little bit of outdoor work as well, small jumps, ducking under low objects etc, not too strenuous though as he is still young, at least nothing more than he would normally do by bolting around the yard by himself. He is outside in our yard during the day when we work so he burns allot of his own energy out there, its not the biggest yard in the world but it seems adequate for him at the mo. I've found a close off lead park near me so when it starts getting brighter I will be going there most evenings for his run around. comparing him to others in his litter he has a moderate energy level, it gets high when we miss a walk or training session but drops low when we have done a good walk, he is happy sleeping at my side when I work at home and will let me know if he wants to do something usually by finding one of my socks and running around the house with it, kinda like saying "daddy lets play, pleaseee otherwise ill run around with your socks and i know how much you hate that"

If the claim is through your insurance company then what will probably happen is, they will ask you to prove the cost of the item (recipe from camera house if you bought it from there) then they will pay you the difference of that amount minus your excess, its unlikely they will physically replace the item.

Hi MelB, lots of advise we can give on this, there are allot of us who just went through this process. What breed is your dog? for my boy, Aussie Shepherd, he was an outdoor dog from 8 weeks old, We had a covered alfresco which I put his kennel, warm blankets and another outside bed under the table as well, I also fenced off part of the yard (bunnings compost fences with zip ties) so he only had access to a section while he was young. will upload a pic when I get home for you About 12 weeks old we removed the partition in the yard and gave him complete access while blocking off any sidings to ensure he stuck to the grass/alfresco area. When we are home we have one of these in our sliding door:http://modernpetdoors.com.au/ - I cannot say enough about how much this product has made my life easier, its a simple procedure to slip it in and out of the sliding door so its not a permanent thing and he takes himself outside when ever he wants to do his business or just play out there. My boy only sleeps at night in his crate (big enough for full size) and we use it only for long travel or staying over at friends.

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their PuppyJackC replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat Lisa does your Aussie love the big plushy toys too? my boy has three now and he loves dragging them around, play fighting with them and rolling around on the floor with them. its hilarious when he sees his big teddy in the middle of the room, runs a full speed to it and does a flying jumping nut case leap onto it ending in a three or 4 turn barrel roll only to repeat the motion again from the opposite direction EDIt: spelling is atrocious

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their PuppyJackC replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat lol Lhok I'm sure the breeder is delighted that you are giving updates, I would hate to be a breeder and not know how the pups or even adults that move on are doing.
