Gertrude you must have some wonderful memories with all the rescues you have fostered, its takes allot of heart to do what you do and I'm sure the dogs that go through yours hands move on to wonderful homes and have a great life

Dogs are outdoor creatures, sure society has turned some breeds into couch puffs on legs that have their own massage chair and indoor hydrobaths  and that's fine if your down for that thing, but a dog is a dog and if you have the opportunity to let it explore outside whether its a secured yard or a 100 acre plot then I am all for letting them get this experience. My boy is attentive, fast learning and damn smart, he spends most of our working hours outdoors and when we are home has the choice to be in or out as he pleases via use of a dog door, I think allowing him to have this experience of being outside during the day has helped him mature and grow into the dog he is now, if he was stuck inside all day I do not feel that he would have progressed as well.

Good place to get a cheap camera is here: http://www.kogan.com/au/shop/cameras/ip-cameras-webcams/ The white one is good as it can save direct to your pc and you can save each video file each evening so you have video evidence to match against there "claims" of barking.

This would be my ideal solution but I'd be a little worried about nuisance barking! Are your doggies very quiet and well behaved when outside on their own? I trust that Hank the pup would just wander around & chase butterflies but Odie tends to go into full "guard dog mode" when outside which we are working on but I have to be around to tell her to snap out of it. Also I'm worried about someone coming along and stealing them but my SO tells me that's highly unlikely I think I'm the one who has separation anxiety here Hankodie I was in the exact same position as you when I first got Koda, I was also really worried as at the time we were in a new developed area in the middle of a busy suburb so lots of people would walk by our fence, back then I sectioned of my yard so Koda could only get access to a small portion of the garden and full access to the covered alfresco, this was to keep him away from the fence that was road side so he didn't get disturbed by any noise or people walking by the fence I think it took me longer to adjust to the situation than he did

My boy owns outside when we are out, he has a covered 3m square alfresco with a large dog kennel outdoor sun bed and 2m long outdoor fully wooden table for shelter, water pool in the yard will be added soon, its a small yard but just enough for him to do zoomies back and forth, round and round all day, he has an abundance of toys and objects to keep him amused, a large heavy water bowl in place and a few large bones on a regular basis to chew on, we have a radio playing by the sliding door so he has some noise interaction for sleeping As he is young we do not leave him out there after dark, only from early morning till after work, my partner works shifts so if no-one will be home within 8 hours of leaving him one of will head back on our lunch break to feed and check on him, when he hits 6 months we will be stopping this check and feeding and moving to two meals a day and if my partner is on a double he will be out there from 7am till 5:30pm, but that will probably only be twice a week sometimes 3 times. It took him about a week to adjust to amusing himself out there and he seems to have settled well over the last month When we are home we have a modernpetdoor sliding door insert in our back sliding door, it is the best thing ever, great to let him go out when ever he wants at night when we are home to do his business or play and then can come inside when he wants to rest or cuddle or just roam around

My boy was having great fun tipping over, jumping in and allround playing with his water bowl, As he is alone most of the working day i needed to sort this out so I did the below Bunnings shopping list: Went to garden section and to the damaged / discount part, bought a large square clay/ceramic pot, it is about 20L capacity - $5 Went to the builders section and bought a bag of cement - $4 Went to the storage section and bought a tub that had straight sides and would fit inside the clay pot with a decent amount of space still in the pot - $4 Filled the pot with the mixed cement up to about half way, pressed the tub into the pot so it was just below level with the top, filled up the rest of the pot with cement securing the tub in place. let dry overnight, now I have a 25kg square pot with a removeable plastic inner that I fill with water each day works a charm

Camera Draining Battery When Not In Use!JackC replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos before you discount the battery, how old is it? how many cycles (charges) has it had, roughly, has it been left aside for a long time? do you have another battery to test out to ensure it is the camera? only reason I ask is the off switch on most camera's is a direct voltage switch and there should be no drain when switched to off.

I am a complete novice when it comes to this but after a few years of playing with photoshop I have found that a few small tweaks really make a huge difference with my shots, sometimes its just a simple contrast or tone tweak, other times its a full blown colour and shading adjustment, I am slowly getting better now with my camera, only really started taking photo's a few months ago and learning all about aperture, iso and shutter speeds now

Also glad I read this thread, my boy loves his plastic bottles, was worried at the start but I just need to remember to remove the lid and ring and its play time :D
